It is located in the Ancient Town of Xingping which is a popular landmark of the city. It can be reached by taxi or walking distance if you are staying in any of the hotels nearby that area. This is a fantastic place to spend a couple of hours having a drink and enjoying the good looking and tasty food. It is a medium size restaurant with a nice atmosphere, service is basic but good and the food is nicely presented. It has inside and outside dining options and the building is a beautiful historical conservation building. It’s a beautiful village with cozy streets, delicious food and amazing nature! Compared to Yangshuo, this town is small, but also worth to visit! ✔️ Walking down the ancient streets, drinking fresh orange juice from local farmers. A must-visit famous background spot of the 20 RMB note. Guilin’s landscape, through its spectacular karst mountains, provides a breathtaking landscape and known as the best landscape of the country. Plus locals specialty brunch (Chicken stew and rice in a bamboo) at Dawei Ancient Town. From the Yangshou west center we took a Didi car and send us directly to that spot. We paid 40 rmb to get quality photos for both printed and electronic copies. I took a quick hike up a mountain to get a beautiful view of the river and then headed down to the river. The cormorant fisherman down by the river makes for amazing photos. To get to the mountain: type “Lao Zhaishan” 老寨山 into your GPS app and follow the directions. Make sure to take some water with you. The hike isn’t too difficult but coming down the mountain is a bit more difficult than going up the mountain. The cormorant fisher men can by found down by the river close to the 20 RMB photo location. There are plenty of other activities to do around Xingping, I only had one afternoon and I wish I stayed longer.

So it was our last day in Yangshuo and we had managed to book a meeting and sunset shoot with Mr Huang, a traditional cormorant fisherman turned insta-model. We couldn't wait. BUT, at 4pm, it started pouring with rain.. Now, it had been raining the whole trip, but those lasted a few minutes. This was different. It just didn't stop. Shoes, pants and top were wet. Even my underwear! But we weren't worried about that. Our question was would the rain stop before we were to meet Mr Huang? We could only wait and see. Luckily, it stopped 45 minutes before our meeting! We met Mr Huang by the river side. His distinctive long white beard and pair of fierce looking cormorants gave a glimpse of what the Li River would have been like decades ago. The moment was perfect! The karst mountains was such a perfect backdrop that I stopped taking photos and just sat and watched the sun disappear. I've met many amazing characters during my travels, but Mr Huang is by far my favorite, his smile has a magical calming presence. Pure serenity. In the early spring of March, you can swim in the Lijiang River. Feel the psychedelic landscape smoke and rain.
