Zijin Temple in Dongshan, Suzhou is a historic temple located in Ximaowu, Dongshan Town, Wuzhong District, Suzhou City.
History: Zijin Temple was built in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. It has a history of more than 1,400 years. Although it only has one hall, it is famous for the Arhat statues sculpted by Lei Chao and his wife, famous sculptors in the Southern Song Dynasty.
Main features: The 16 painted clay Arhat statues in the main hall are exquisitely crafted and lifelike. They are known as one of the "two and a half Arhat halls in the world" and are an important cultural heritage in the history of Chinese sculpture and art. In addition, there is a 600-year-old osmanthus tree and a magnolia tree from the Song Dynasty in the temple, adding a touch of simplicity and elegance to the temple.
Visiting information: Zijin Temple is open all year round from 8:00 to 17:00, and the ticket price is CNY 30. Visitors can drive or take a bus to the temple, and there is a parking lot in the temple for convenient parking.
Zijin Temple attracts many tourists with its profound historical heritage and unique artistic charm. In late fall and early winter, the maple leaves in Zijin Temple turn red and the ginkgo leaves turn yellow. It is a great place to enjoy a pot of green tea and chat with friends.
