Shark’s Cove Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Release your laziness at a good place | Shark Bay
Shark Bay is located at the end of the west coast of Australia, surrounded by islands and land, and is famous for its three incomparable natural landscapes. It has the largest and most abundant collection of marine plant specimens in the world; and it is home to the largest number of dugongs (sea cows) and stromatolites in Shark Island, while also protecting five endangered mammal species.
The bays, harbors, and small islands in the Shark Bay region support a vast aquatic world, where sea turtles, whales, prawns, scallops, sea snakes, fish, and sharks are all common aquatic creatures. At the same time, in some areas, coral reefs, sponges, and other invertebrates, as well as tropical and subtropical fish, form a unique ecological community. Various burrowing mollusks, hermit crabs, and other invertebrates live on the wide, flat beaches.
The wide coral reefs are another beautiful sight for underwater viewing. The diameter of the coral blocks is about 500 meters, filled with rich marine life. Countless colorful corals compete to catch people's eyes, such as blue, purple, green, brown, and so on, truly a feast for the eyes. Here, you can also go boating, diving, snorkeling, observing marine life, fishing, windsurfing, and swimming.
Shark Bay!
Bay Area weekend: Shark Bay | Highway 1 in the North Bay is also beautiful.
Departing at 1pm in the afternoon, heading south from Berkeley, planning to drive along Highway 1 to near Big Sur, but it got foggy near 17 Mile Drive, and it seemed cloudy near Big Sur, so we didn't continue driving further down.
The main place we passed by is Shark Fin Cove (between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz). We arrived at the parking spot near the railway and walked along the railway for about 15 minutes. The beach is quite beautiful!
Later, we drove to 17 Mile Drive, which we highly recommend. Although it was cloudy when we went, the overall vacation feeling was spot on. There were also many wild deer and sea lions inside...the feeling of harmony between humans and nature was very strong.
We chose TheBench restaurant inside, which is a bit expensive. Many residents living here gather with their families for meals. We chose this one mainly for Italian cuisine, which is quite delicious (the mushroom pizza is average).
Tips for entering 17 Mile Drive:
At the beginning, you will be charged $10, but if you consume inside (such as in a restaurant), they will deduct it if you show the receipt.
Inside there is a very large golf course, friends who like golf can choose to stay there for a night, the environment is very much like a resort.
Actually, the beach heavily relies on weather conditions, because it often gets foggy and cloudy there. So when you see a beautiful beach, stop and enjoy it, because you might not find another one like it.
