I've driven past this stadium countless times on my way to Mapledurham but never had the chance to enter until today's friendly match between Reading and Tottenham Hotspur. Booking/Ticketing: The ticket price was just £12, which was definitely reasonable, especially given that I’d have spent the same amount attending the Leatherhead FC vs Tonbridge Angels match—an alternative I had considered. Although there was a technical issue with their website on Thursday and Friday, I managed to book over the phone thanks to a very helpful staff member who provided excellent service. Parking: There are several parking options: A) Club Car Parks—they’re available but tend to sell out fast. B) Mereoak Park and Ride—the round trip costs £5, which includes parking, making it a cost-effective choice. C) Parking at the nearby retail park (home to KFC, B&Q, and McDonald’s)—there were no visible restrictions or ANPR cameras on-site when I was there. D) Hilton Hotel parking—just a five-minute walk and very affordable. Non-guests can park at any time, with no post-match exit queues. As a Spurs supporter and away fan, I found both the stadium and staff to be impressively clean and well-maintained. The food options were limited but priced fairly. All in all, a pleasant experience.

I recently held my Grandad's 80th birthday celebration at the Malmaison Hotel, and it surpassed all expectations. We secured the private dining room, which seats up to 24 guests, and with our group of 20, there was plenty of room for everyone. From beginning to end, everything was smooth and stress-free. Imogen, who handled the booking, payments, and meal selections, was incredibly helpful throughout the process. She readily managed last-minute changes to our meal choices due to cancellations and replacements, ensuring everything went off without a hitch. Her excellent communication made planning a breeze, and I am so thankful for her assistance. On the event day, Yvette and her fantastic team hosted us with warmth and attentiveness, making us feel truly welcomed. Yvette, in particular, went the extra mile to make the occasion feel extra special, creating a memorable day for everyone. A sincere thank you to the entire Malmaison team for their hard work and dedication. My Grandad and several family members also stayed overnight and loved the hotel's elegant atmosphere and luxurious setting. I will absolutely choose Malmaison again for any future family celebrations.

I had stayed here once before but visited today for a quick cappuccino and to use their secure underground parking ahead of a football match between Reading FC and Spurs at the nearby Madejski Stadium. Arriving at 1 pm, I saw the Spurs team coach leaving for the stadium—clearly, they’d had enough of my ‘aroma,’ a potent mix of cheap aftershave, cigarettes, and budget booze! The coffee was fantastic, the staff were wonderful, and the hotel itself is lovely. For parking, just enter your car registration into the automated machine in the hotel lobby, right next to reception.

Ibis Reading Centre is perfectly located for travelers relying on public transport—just a short walk from Reading station and the terminals for various bus routes. During my time here, one of the two main elevators was out of service, leading occasionally to longer waits to access my room on the 13th floor. Thankfully, the stunning views both from the lift area and my room made up for this inconvenience. The room itself was modern, spotless, and surprisingly spacious, with a comfortable bed and a shower room that was mostly satisfactory. However, the step up from the bedroom floor posed a bit of a challenge for me at 82 years old. After some effort, I managed to get the TV working, though the volume control seemed disabled—likely to prevent any disturbance to nearby guests. As with all ACCOR hotels I’ve visited, the breakfast buffet was extensive and diverse. I must particularly commend the excellent effort by assistant Milana, whose attentive service stood out during my stay. Like many large hotels nowadays, this one relies heavily on digital services, and I noticed other guests also facing difficulties with the plastic room keys. On my departure day, I had arranged a late check-out (until 17:00), but when I came back to the hotel around 15:00, neither of my keys worked, which resulted in two additional elevator rides to seek assistance. On that occasion, the female reception staff, especially an Italian employee, were understanding and helpful, which contrasted with the treatment I received at check-in. Despite having paid for check-in from 09:00, the male staff member who processed my ALL card informed me at 13:00 that I wouldn’t be able to check in until 15:00. This was frustrating, but fortunately, the subsequent support offered by the other receptionists helped leave a better impression overall.

We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary at the Roseate and treated ourselves to a spa package. From the moment we arrived, the staff were wonderful, especially Shee, who generously upgraded us to a gorgeous suite. The room was decorated with petals on the bed and complimentary chocolates, making us feel truly pampered and enhancing our special celebration. The hotel itself is beautiful, and we highly recommend staying in the main building—its classic charm, high ceilings, and elegant design stand out. Our spa experience was reasonably priced and absolutely worth it. A couple of days before, we received a helpful call asking if we’d like to use the sauna and steam room beforehand (these need to be pre-booked since they are intimate spaces) and whether we’d prefer massages together in the same room, a delightful option we didn’t know about. Chenga gave us incredible massages—so relaxing that my partner even dozed off! The entire session was a calming treat. We enjoyed a late breakfast the following day, but there was still plenty to choose from. Later, as we wanted to explore town without moving our car, Shee, Helen, and Martin (hopefully that’s his name!) kindly extended our parking at no cost. It was a wonderful stay overall, with ornate, spotless rooms, exceptional service, and heavenly spa treatments. Highly recommend!

After walking about half a circle, you will see a reservoir and open grassland, which is perfect for taking pictures. In autumn and winter morning, the fog is misty, the screen is extremely beautiful, very suitable for morning travel photography; in summer morning or dusk, the sun's light hits the water reflecting, the whole atmosphere is super healing. 🔍 Sightseeing tips 1.
