Mt. Rebun Climbing Course The bus stop called Uchiji is the entrance. Some lodgings will provide a shuttle service to the trailhead. Mt. Rebun is 490m above sea level. It is about 4.5km one way, and takes 2 hours one way. If you are used to climbing, it will take about 3 hours round trip. However, you do not need heavy climbing equipment, and it is a course for beginners that can be tackled in sneakers. (Unlike other trekking courses, there are no flowers) The climbing course is just uphill. If you just keep climbing the mountain path, you will see what looks like the summit, but this is commonly known as the false summit (it was so cold that I almost gave up). But the summit beyond that is spectacular! We were lucky to have good weather, so we could see the blue sea, the clear sky, Mt. Rishiri, and Sakhalin in the distance.
