When it rains, it turns ochre, much prettier than the tall buildings in the city." 🌾 The "fingerprints of time" on the loess walls "You need some strength to touch this wall," the elderly woman’s palm brushed over the mottled loess. "It’s mixed with glutinous rice juice and tung oil, still rock hard after six hundred years." The wall surface was covered with fine cracks, like the veins on an old person's hand—one sunken spot held a child's handprint. "That was pressed by Afu’s child during the Republic of China era. Now his grandson is already a grandpa." The oldest building, the "Juren House," had wooden carvings on the lintel worn smooth by time. The doorstep was worn shallow by generations of footsteps. Off-season Songyang is really delightful~ No long lines of cars No rushing tourist crowds Only a few scattered visitors And villagers who work at sunrise and rest at sunset~ Hello 😊 I am exploring Zhejiang’s mountains, waters, and villages Continuing to share the ancient village tour of Songyang These photos were taken on 12/22-23, 2025 Location: Songzhuang Village, Songyang This small mountain village, known as the last secret place in Jiangnan, is located in Shandao, Sandu Township, about 40 minutes by car from the county seat. The mountain road is a bit rugged, but you will pass several ancient villages along the way, and the scenery is quite nice with several great spots for road photography. When you enter the village and hear the babbling stream, your heart instantly calms down~ 【Transportation】 It is recommended to drive yourself or rent a car/charter a vehicle, as public transport in the mountains is limited. We drove directly to the village entrance parking lot, with free parking and no entrance fee. 【Travel and Photography Sharing】 ▫️The best viewing platform is in the pavilion by the roadside above the parking lot, offering a panoramic view of the village (Photo 1) ▫️The village is small; a leisurely 2-hour walk is enough; By the stream, there is an art gallery, Peach Restaurant, a book bar on the restaurant’s second floor, and a popular ancient bridge; By the ancient bridge, we encountered a photography group and captured some ethereal shots. 【Accommodation Sharing】 Visiting Songyang in the off-season is all about experiencing mountain living, so we chose to stay in the ancient village. Peach Wild Homestay in Songzhuang Village was the best accommodation during this Lishui trip. It felt like I found the dream mountain home I’ve always been searching for. I liked it so much I didn’t want to leave~ A two-story rustic loft villa, each villa has a poetic name. The first floor has a high-ceiling living room, and from the courtyard at the entrance, you can see the mountain view and sunset. The second-floor rooms are spacious and suitable for yoga (yoga mats provided). White wooden pillars, rafters, doors, and door stoppers make it feel like living back in a childhood home~ Warm bedside lamps, poetry collections within easy reach, air conditioning and floor heating throughout the house. If you’ve ever seen those videos of lakes with unreal blue water, don’t doubt it—that’s Xiaoqikong in Libo. Libo, Guizhou, is the green gem on the earth’s belt and a world natural heritage site. The water in Xiaoqikong isn’t ordinary; it’s a blue-green color rich in minerals, so clear you can see every stone on the bottom. When the sun shines, the whole river looks like a flowing emerald ribbon, known as the “jelly sea”—the surface glimmers like a gemstone, crystal clear to the eye. 🌊 Wolong Pool: Libo’s “beauty peak” The most photogenic spot in Xiaoqikong, bar none. The water is that unreal blue-green, calm like a giant mirror reflecting the green mountains and ancient trees on both sides. At the dam, there’s a man-made curved embankment where the water flows over, forming a thin curtain of water like a layer of transparent silk laid over the blue surface. Standing by the pool, the water is so still it looks like a mirror, with the mountains reflected in it—you can’t tell which is real and which is the reflection. 📸 Best photo spot: the viewing platform directly in front of Wolong Pool dam.
