Kho Lipe,
Kho Lipe, the first time I saw this small island was in the movie "Mechanic: Resurrection" starring Jason Statham. After watching the movie, I kept looking for this small island and finally found out its name - Lipe Island. It is not an exaggeration to say that it is the Maldives of Thailand. Perhaps for tourists, its popularity is not as high as that of Koh Samui and Phi Phi Island. However, the enchanting island, the blue sea and sky, the beautiful white sandy beaches, and the coral reefs that can be seen everywhere in the sea are enough to prove that this is a small island worth traveling thousands of miles for.
Transportation to Lipe Island
Why do people say it's a long journey to get here? In fact, you need to take all kinds of transportation, including sea, land and air, to reach this small island. It's 950 kilometers away from the capital city, Bangkok. I flew from Bangkok airport to Hat Yai airport in southern Thailand, and I booked a package ticket online in advance. From Hat Yai airport to Pakarra pier, there is transportation available. Of course, you can buy a ticket from the airport to the pier, but it's more expensive. It takes about 2 hours to get from the airport to the pier. After arriving at the pier, you need to wait for the speedboat to arrive. If you have time, you can go to the nearby 7-11 to buy some motion sickness medicine, snacks, beer and sunscreen (you must bring sunscreen). Everything is more expensive than other 7-11 stores, so if you want to save money, you can buy them in advance. It takes about 1 and a half hours to reach Koh Lipe after boarding the ship, which is quite long. After all, you have to pay the price of transportation to reach this paradise. Haha.
After arriving at Koh Lipe, the boat will not directly land on the beach. A transfer station is set up outside the island where all boats must switch to smaller boats to reach the island. The ticket for the smaller boat is 50 Thai baht, and there is also a national park fee to be paid, oh, I forgot whether it is 200 or 300 Thai baht, and then take the smaller boat to shore.
Lipe Island is divided into three main beaches: Sunrise Beach, Sunset Beach, and Pattaya Beach. If you like lively places, you can choose a hotel on Pattaya Beach, which is closer to Walking Street and has the finest sand at night markets. Sunrise Beach and Sunset Beach are relatively quiet. In fact, you can choose any beach. There are tricycles on the island, and each person costs 50 baht per trip. After all, the entire island is not large.
Pedestrian street, here gathers restaurants, massage parlors, bars, travel agencies, as well as 7-11 and ATM machines on the island. If you haven't booked an island hopping tour, you can also choose to buy it here. Eating, drinking, and shopping are all possible. After dinner, you can have a drink at the beach bar and listen to live music, which is also a good choice.
Koh Lipe is also a diving paradise in Thailand. Whether snorkeling or deep diving, you can see the colorful underwater world. You can also participate in island hopping, choose several islands and snorkeling spots to play, and then return to the walking street to enjoy Thai-style massage and lie on the bench to listen to the sea. This is the taste of life in Thailand.
I always thought I wouldn't get tanned, but I didn't bring sunscreen before coming and ended up as dark as charcoal. So for those who are coming, remember to bring sunscreen and a waterproof phone case.
The trip to Libei Island ends here. I hope everyone enjoys this beautiful, cozy, and leisurely little island.
