The Scenic Shodoshima Island
Japan has finally reopen its door to the world where no testing is required upon arrival into the country.
There is always so much to explore in Japan where people will head to popular placesike kobe, osaka, Tokyo, narita.
But if you are someone who loves scenic views looking out from a small island, shodoshima island is the place to be where it is situated in the setouchi sea. My utmost recommendation, since you are a travel rent a car on the island itself and not when going to the island, saves you the convenience and the money too!
The view from Shodoshima island is breathtaking, and you can visit the olive Park, for outdoor fanatic you can climb the kankakei Gorge or take a walk at the angel road. Small island but many things to do ^^

Day trip to Shodoshima island
We went to there with a group of people, it was fun we had our own itinerary. Before you depart to the island make sure you are going to the right port that goes with your itinerary because each attraction point is like 30 mins away from each other by bus.
Be sure to keep checking the time of angel road which we missed because there’s a certain time window that the road becomes angel road and the rest the sea would rises over the path.

Shodoshima Kankakei Gorge
One of Japan's three most beautiful gorges, and a representative scenic spot of Setonaikai National Park. You can witness one of Japan's most exquisite gorges, formed over 2 million years. The view from the ropeway, which passes through unique rock formations and towering cliffs created by wind and rain erosion, is truly breathtaking. Enjoy the changing scenery throughout the seasons: fresh greenery in spring, deep green in summer, autumn foliage, and snowy landscapes in winter.
Riding the ropeway accentuates the grandeur of the gorge, offering a powerful and impressive view. It is the only ropeway in Japan where you can simultaneously view the sky, sea, and gorge.

Bicycle Exploration of Shodoshima: A Complete One-Day Tour Guide
Heading to Shodoshima
This time, I chose to take a high-speed boat to Tonosho Port on Shodoshima. Departing from Takamatsu Port, the round-trip fare is about 2,600 Japanese yen, and the journey takes approximately 40 minutes.
Nijushi no Hitomi Movie Village
There's really a sense of traveling through time here, as if returning to the Showa era. The village has many retro buildings and scenes from the movie 'Twenty-Four Eyes', and walking here feels especially nostalgic. The weather is great, the sea view is beautiful, and standing by the sea with the wind blowing is truly enjoyable. It's worth mentioning that I took a speedboat from the pier near Olive Park, which only took ten minutes and cost 500 yen per person. The boatman waits at the pier, and the boat departs immediately after boarding, without waiting, which is very convenient.
Shodoshima Olive Park
This place is really great for taking photos, every corner is beautiful. Particularly interesting was a photo I took riding a magic broom, feeling like I entered the world of Harry Potter, super fun! Of course, you must try their green tea ice cream topped with a layer of olive oil, the taste is really special! The aroma of olive oil and the fresh scent of green tea blend perfectly, each bite is amazing. The park also has many olive trees and other cute facilities, the whole place is relaxing and great for taking photos and checking in.
Lunch at Shodoshima Dining Hall
The meal was really super sumptuous, it felt like every dish was thoughtfully prepared. There were fried tempura, various side dishes, rice balls, and a bowl of hot soup, plus my favorite soft-boiled egg. The tempura was especially crispy, and the side dishes tasted great, the whole meal was very satisfying. The food here is not only delicious but also has a local flavor, truly a must-eat meal when visiting Shodoshima.
Transportation
For transportation on Shodoshima, I chose to rent a Happy Bike with electric assist, which made cycling easier. This made the whole trip more free and convenient. If you don't want to cycle, you can also choose to take the bus, but the bus service is less frequent, so you need to pay a little attention to the schedule.
This trip to Shodoshima not only relaxed my mood but also allowed me to enjoy lots of delicious food, truly a great experience. If you also plan to visit here, don't miss these places!
Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village: A Scenic Classic Filming Location on Shodoshima, Shikoku
On a recent trip to Shodoshima in Shikoku, Japan, I opted for a local day tour, one of the highlights being the Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village. Just a 700-meter walk from Tanoura Fishing Port, it's a hidden gem where you can gaze out at the captivating Seto Inland Sea, feeling as though you've stepped right into a film scene, surrounded by a serene and leisurely ambiance.
The village also recreates numerous scenes from novels and movies, offering visitors a heightened sense of immersion and presence.
【Kagawa】Is this Greece? A Spot to Visit.
Welcome to the Olive Park on Shodoshima, an island floating in the Seto Inland Sea. 🫒
The Olive Park is a roadside station spread on a small hill overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, with about 2,000 olive trees. 📝
Admission is free, so it's recommended to drop by casually!
The scenery here alone can make you feel as if you're in Greece. 🇬🇷
Brooms can be borrowed for free at the roadside station inside Olive Park, so make sure to borrow one! 🧹
I pretended to be Kiki in front of the Greek-style windmill with a broom in hand. 🧹♥️
There are many other cute spots, so be sure to visit! ✨
Shodoshima in the Rain: In Pursuit of 'Kiki's Delivery Service'
After returning to Shodoshima from Teshima, I came to Shodoshima in the Seto Inland Sea of Japan, carrying my longing for the witch Kiki from 'Kiki's Delivery Service'. This magical island is not only picturesque but also hides surprising art and cultural experiences. Let me take you on a journey to see how this little island blooms its unique magic in the rain!
🚤 Travel Overview: Journey from Teshima back to Shodoshima
After returning to Tonosho Port from Teshima, I took a bus straight to Olive Park. Although the journey was a bit long, the magnificent seascape along the way made time fly by. After getting off the bus, it's just a short three-minute walk to the long-awaited Olive Park. If you plan to return the same day, you can take a bus directly from the Olive Garden to Ikeda Port, where there is a ferry to Takamatsu Port.
🌸 Exploring Olive Park: Following in Kiki's Footsteps
Upon arriving at Olive Park, the free 'Witch's Broom' provided by the visitor center is a highlight here. Picking up the broom, a symbol of a witch's identity, I felt like I became Kiki ready to deliver goods, experiencing the thrill of flying. These brooms allow every visitor to temporarily enjoy the fun of being a witch for a day.
📸 Photographer's Paradise: Capturing Dreamy Scenes Even on Rainy Days
There are several excellent photo spots in Olive Park. In addition to the themed mailbox and windmill, there are photo spots named 'Childhood Dream' and 'Happy Days'. These places are scenes straight out of a fairy tale, and even in the drizzle, we successfully captured dreamy photos that perfectly showcase the unique beauty of Shodoshima in the rain.
🌟 Park Tips
• Dress comfortably: Considering you may need to walk a lot, choosing comfortable shoes is particularly important.
• Timing: Even on rainy days, Shodoshima still shows its unique charm. If you don't mind the weather, Shodoshima in the rain can also offer a different experience.
• Accommodation recommendation: The 'hotel-kei' guesthouse, surrounded by gardenias and olive trees and next to a windmill, is filled with the style of Studio Ghibli animations. Every detail here seems to take you into the world of animation, making it the perfect place to end a day's witch experience.
I hope this share inspires your adventurous spirit, and maybe next time, you'll be the witch riding a broom across Shodoshima. Don't miss this opportunity to start your magical journey on Shodoshima!
I'm flying on a broom in the Olive Park on Shodoshima in Takamatsu!
Checking in at the 'Olive Park' on Shodoshima in Takamatsu, not only can you take pictures of the windmill from 'Kiki's Delivery Service', but there is also a beautiful slope where you can take stunning photos of the mountains and sea. Next to the slope is a giant book prop.
In the Olive Park, another must-do activity is to find heart-shaped olive leaves, similar to finding four-leaf clovers, carrying people's hopes for luck. After finding a heart-shaped olive leaf, you can take it to a designated place to make a souvenir to take home.
Lover's sanctuary ~ Angel's road
Must-visit attractions on Shodoshima Island.
What travelers see: Lover's paradise ~ Angel's road.
It is a natural landscape formed by the ebb and flow of seawater.
You are fortunate enough to personally experience the charming path formed as the tide recedes.
You can stay at the Shodoshima Island International Hotel.
Watch the beautiful sunset landscape.
The subtle changes of the Angel's Road, with the ebb and flow, the path gradually widens. Walking on the soft sandy beach, a gentle breeze brings a faint sea scent, making one feel refreshed and happy.
At the end of the Angel's Road is a small island, where pairs of lovers pray on the trees, swaying in the wind, wishing to become family and grow old together.
As the tide rises, the path slowly narrows and is submerged in seawater.
Quickly leave the Angel's Road, or your shoes will get wet.
May all lovers in the world eventually become family 🙏
Japan's Kagawa 🌿 Shodoshima Island 🧹 discovers a dreamy paradise.
Tokyo's cherry blossoms are almost gone 🌸
Over the weekend, I quickly took my mother on a plane to Kagawa.
For me this year, compared to the cherry blossoms of spring, the art islands of the Seto Inland Sea are more attractive.
Haven't seen my mom for three years, want to take her for a stroll on a small island!
Shodoshima is a small island that I really love. It is covered with green olive trees and is the filming location for Miyazaki's "Kiki's Delivery Service" and the anime "Takagi-san". Being there feels like walking in a fairy tale.
Went to see the thousand-year-old olive tree 🫒, the green mailbox 📮, the white windmill 🤍, and the 400-year-old heritage of Yamaloku soy sauce 🧉.
I also went to the super fun Monster Art Museum and the Kabuki stage in the village that was like a paradise outside the world!
Inside the Monster Art Museum, in addition to traditional monster displays, there is also a modern monster design competition hosted. Currently in its sixth year, the museum showcases many well-designed modern monsters created by contemporary artists, reflecting their attitudes towards modern life.
For example, there are monsters that protect the environment~ monsters that specialize in giving likes to people~ monsters that only eat people who have been staring at their phones on the subway [meow meow]~ and monsters that are silly and point the way at the entrance of the art museum! I recommend everyone to go and play~
The Kabuki stage (P1, P11) also has a history of 300 years!
It is said that the villagers of Shodoshima went to travel in Osaka at that time.
(🌟Osaka is a super fashion capital in their hearts)
After seeing a Kabuki performance and finding it particularly exciting, we decided to put on our own in the village. The villagers worked together to build a stage for the performance, with the audience sitting on the grass and watching the Kabuki show in an old house. This tradition has been passed down from generation to generation. The next performance is said to be on May 3rd, so if you're interested, you can go and see it!
My mom had a great time, so I'm happy too! Took her to my favorite little island~ Met my friends on the island and saw the island life. Thanks to my mom for taking so many beautiful photos for me, haha.
Everyone, remember to spend more time with your parents on your days off, take them out to play if you have the time.

Mew Travel Shodoshima has a delicious soy sauce museum
accidentally took the wrong bus on Shodoshima,
then came to the gold soy sauce memorial.
I didn't think there was such a large soy sauce factory on the so quiet and beautiful Soy Island. When I got out of the car, I smelled the smell of soy sauce in the air. It was quite fragrant, and I was hungry when I smelled it.
There are museums to visit on the side of the station. You can look at the development history and soy sauce production technology here. The exhibition hall is not big, but the layout is quite elaborate.
The opposite side of the museum can also buy a unique soy sauce ice cream, the same color as chocolate ice cream, a lot better than the imagination, the taste is not strange, it is worth a taste!
Because I took the wrong car, I spent an extra hour and a half, so I walked by the sea, slowly enjoying the scenery while walking to the next station. Along the way, there are many small shops related to soy sauce. Life on the island is really good~~
Located on the northeastern side of the Shikoku, Shodoshima is sandwiched between the Shikoku and Honshu, among the 3,000 islands in the Seto Inland Sea. It is the second largest island and a popular tourist resort.
The highest mountain on Shodoshima is the 817-meter star city, and its west side is a flat highland, known as the "original beauty." A steep wall is formed around the high ground, and there are scenic spots such as the Zizi River. In addition, the erosion of wind and rain for many years has created a large number of rock formations, as well as the Hanxia River, which is known as one of the three major valleys in Japan. There are walking trails, and the ropeway is between the steep banks, from the ropeway. Offers a view of the surrounding area.
There are a thousand Japanese in the hearts of a thousand people, Japan in the hearts of young people in Tokyo, Japan in the hearts of the people in Kyoto, and the islands in Japan in the hearts of artists in the Seto Inland Sea.
The three-year-old Japanese Seto Inland International Art Festival has finally arrived. This time is divided into three stages: spring, summer and autumn:
spring exhibition period: April 26 to May 26;
Summer extension: July 19th to August 25th;
Autumn extension: September 28th to November 4th.
Exhibition islands include: Naoshima, Toshima, Iwaki, Manmu, Shodoshima, Oshima, Inushima, Saimi (limited in spring), Honshu (autumn limited), Takamiji (limited in autumn), Su Island (limited in autumn), Igloo Island (limited in autumn), around Takamatsu Port, around Uno Port.
The Seto Inland Sea is located in the four countries and has many large and small islands, of which the small bean island is relatively famous and relatively large.
Shodoshima is famous for its olives. The whole island is full of olive groves and olive-themed everywhere. It is very admirable that the people of neon can turn a simple thing into a cute theme.
Olive Park is a relatively famous punching point on Shodoshima.
The traffic is not well developed. The bus has been coming for a long time. Be sure to arrange the timetable in advance. Be optimistic about the moment to avoid missing.
Olive Park has a famous windmill, which is the shooting place of the witch's house. The service center can borrow the broom and then take a variety of shapes. If you want to try to fly, you must use it. Shutter mode. Remember to borrow a broom, you must return it, you must have credit and quality.
Olive Park is filled with olive trees, you can find your own heart-shaped leaves. If you find it is said to have good luck, you can go to the service center to make a lucky bookmark after you find it.
Island is rich in olive-flavored ice cream and olive-flavored soda. It is highly recommended for olive-flavored soda. It is really summer. Its not too greasy, but I brought a few bottles back.
The Angel Walk is known as the Road to Love, and is a famous attraction on the romantic Doji Island, a pilgrimage site for lovers.
This road will only appear when the tide is low, stretching for 1.5 kilometers. When the weather is good, the sea is blue.
and the couple holding hands with angel trails, it is said that they can always be happy and sweet. At the end, there is a wishing tree, full of lovers' love wishes and love declaration.
There is also a viewing platform that climbs up to better overlook the Angel Walk.
The tide is only two times a day, so be sure to bring a couple to walk.
The Soy Sauce Museum is not big as a whole. You can smell the thick soy sauce when you get off the bus, and it is not bad to smell. It is the smell of soy sauce when you were a child.
The exhibition hall is very small, you can finish the tour in ten minutes, and you are not allowed to take pictures. The highlight of the
soy sauce museum is the soy sauce ice cream! ! It sounds difficult to imagine, I was skeptical at first, and I really fell in love after I tried it! ! The commissary at the door is sold, 300 yen, the amount is very good, the faint soy sauce taste can be said to be perfect with the thick milk flavor of the ice cream.
The traffic here is not too developed. Be sure to watch the timetable and miss a class for at least an hour. Of course, I feel that if I miss it, I will come back again.
In fact, Shodoshima is not only beautiful, but also food and art. From the last Setouchi Art Festival, the art atmosphere of Shodoshima, which was originally very small and fresh, has become more intense. Even the food has begun to have the soul of art~
Come to Shodoshima to go to the beach The art-savvy restaurant, people who come to see the Setouchi Festival will come to eat here, and they are very popular! The restaurant was opened in an old dwelling house and was redesigned by the designer. The atmosphere is often literary. There are also many books written by Japanese writer Rong Jinghu. The original literary work of "24 Eyes" in Shodoshima Village is also written by him. The name of the restaurant "" is also the name of one of his books. This restaurant is mainly for local cuisine. It uses local ingredients from Kagawa Prefecture, and the plate is also very artistic. And because of the sea, the scenery is really delicious, the photo hin looks good ~
Speaking of Shodoshima cuisine, the soy sauce ice cream in the "Shanliu" soy sauce shop is also a must! This soy sauce shop is made from wood barrels and is now rare in Japan. This home has a very comfortable small courtyard where you can have tea and snacks. It is recommended to try the soy sauce ice cream, you can add soy sauce according to your own taste, the combination of ice cream and soy sauce is quite novel.
When you visit the art festival in Seto Inland Sea this year, Shodoshima is also a must-see. To the island of Shodoshima, you must punch the olive park. There are large olive trees and herbs, and there are many places to take pictures. Greek blue and white houses. And the Dutch windmill is very traversing! Here is the location of the live-action version of "The Witch's Delivery Service". The visitor center can rent a broom to take a photo of the concave shape for free. You can ride the broom and take off the little witch to take off. - Find the heart-shaped olive in the park. Ye can also make a bookmark to take home, meaning to bring happiness home.
Take the bus to the port of Handan in the southeastern tip of Shodoshima. I want to see the port "the star anger" and the nearby "anger from the bottom". The producers are Yahya. The two works also appeared on the large murals on the side of the port. On the silver planet is a dragon symbolizing the water god, and at night the sphere will turn and shine. The latter is in the Meisui Shrine. The designer is Kitano Takeshi. The earth about eight meters high appears in the ancient well. The axe is inserted in the head and spit water every twenty minutes. This is Kitano Takeshi. In 2014, the temple was built on the ancient well in order to preserve the work forever. In addition, there are no special places in other works. The bus rides slowly back to the earth village, just happens to meet the autumn festival of the Yasaka Shrine, but there is no time to get off the bus. The Angel Road is a road that shows the tide every two times. When the weather is good, it is beautiful. If you live next to the Shodoshima International Hotel, you will have a good view. Later, after going to the same place for a high tide one morning, it was actually good. It is said that in order to prevent pirates in ancient times, Tazhuang Honmachi deliberately built an intricate street, and it was easy to get lost. I took the map and found that I did not find a place for half an hour. And went to the Bandit Strait. Here is the narrowest strait in the world, you can buy a certificate for this tour. There is also a lot of fun on the streets, which is hand-made by local residents using the buoys of fishing boats.
