the place where the ferry dream begins and also where the dream ends (not On the way from Swartz Bay to Victoria, it’s a seaside town less than a 10-minute drive from Swartz Bay. If you’re not in a hurry, it’s definitely worth a visit. After getting off the ferry and stepping into Eastview Park, you immediately feel the relaxing and pleasant breeze of seagulls, sailboats, and the sea air. The fisherman statue on the bench instantly catches your eye, and it seems everyone enjoys changing its decorations (it’s like magic happening before your eyes). Besides the various crab fishers, there are also beachcombers picking up dropped items (maybe because Glass Beach is known for finding pretty stones?). The Pier Bistro isn’t open yet at 9 AM, but they’re already receiving and preparing ingredients for the day. The regular seagulls are everywhere, eyeing the fresh catch at the seafood shop. Walking south along the coast, there are several viewpoints. In theory, Mt Baker View Spot offers a view of Mount Baker, but unfortunately, clouds were blocking it that day. The coastal trail is really comfortable to walk along, with no tall buildings or noisy crowds. It’s no wonder many people like to retire on the island. Maybe it’s just that I haven’t been out for a while and needed a breath of fresh air, but everything looked beautiful to me.
