"The hotel has Wi-Fi" is one of the most optimistic phrases in a hotel description. "Wi-Fi" doesn't mean it works. And "Wi-Fi" doesn't mean it can handle a video call. I've compiled a practical ranking for travelers: speed + coverage + cost of mobile internet + stability outside the capital. This isn't an official global index, but a benchmark for travel and remote work. 🥇 1. Singapore Lightning-fast home internet, a stable mobile network, and Wi-Fi practically everywhere. You can download large files faster than you'll regret the price of your coffee. The main drawback is that, like everything else in Singapore, the connection isn't the cheapest. 🥈 2. Malaysia Strong mobile network, affordable packages, and comfortable work in Kuala Lumpur, George Town, and Langkawi. But on small islands, a room with a jungle view sometimes means internet with a jungle feel. 🥉 3. Thailand One of the best options for digital nomads: fast 5G, inexpensive SIM cards, and plenty of coworking spaces. Bangkok and Chiang Mai offer little reason to nervously check the Wi-Fi icon. On remote islands, it's best to have SIM cards from two carriers. 4. Vietnam Very good value for money. In Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, you can usually make calls and send large files without any problems. Weak spots include mountainous areas, small islands, and cheap hotels, where a single router heroically serves the entire floor. 5. Brunei High-quality infrastructure and stable connectivity, but tourist tariffs and overall price levels prevent internet access from being particularly affordable. 6. Indonesia Bali, Jakarta, and other major cities offer convenient connectivity. However, Indonesia is vast: leave the south of Bali and your workday becomes a search for a place where you can even download a voice message. 7. Philippines In Manila and Cebu, the situation has improved significantly. On the islands, connectivity varies greatly depending on the specific location, carrier, weather, and, it seems, the mood of the palm tree next to the tower. 8. Cambodia In Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, mobile internet is inexpensive and usually sufficient for work. Reliability decreases outside of tourist areas. 9. Laos Connectivity is sufficient for navigation and messaging. For daily video conferences and large files, you'll need reliable accommodations and a backup provider. 10–11. Timor-Leste and Myanmar Infrastructure is less predictable, and Myanmar may also experience restrictions and outages. Planning full-fledged remote work without a backup solution is risky. My verdict: · For work without surprises, choose Singapore, Malaysia, or Thailand; · For the best balance of price and quality, choose Vietnam; · For the islands of Indonesia and the Philippines, choose a local SIM card, a second provider, and accommodations with a confirmed speed test. Bali Beyond the Beaches: My 6-Day Island Adventure 🌺 Bali felt like several different destinations packed into one island. During this six-day trip, I experienced peaceful rice terraces, lively beach towns, dramatic clifftop temples, turquoise island views and some unforgettable Balinese food. Every area had a completely different atmosphere, which made the journey feel exciting without being rushed. I started in Ubud, where the mornings were cooler and quieter. Tegallalang Rice Terrace was especially beautiful early in the day, before the larger crowds arrived. I also explored the Sacred Monkey Forest and visited Tirta Empul, a traditional water temple surrounded by peaceful gardens and stone carvings. When visiting temples, remember to dress respectfully and bring or rent a sarong. The next part of the trip was spent around Canggu and Seminyak. This area was perfect for café hopping, boutique shopping and relaxed beach evenings. Batu Bolong and Echo Beach had a laid-back surfing atmosphere, while Seminyak offered more restaurants, shops and stylish places to stay. Watching the sunset with a coconut or iced coffee was one of the simplest but most memorable parts of the trip. For dramatic scenery, Uluwatu and Jimbaran were highlights. Uluwatu Temple sits above the ocean on towering cliffs, and the sunset views were incredible. The Kecak fire dance added a cultural experience to the evening. Afterwards, a seafood dinner beside Jimbaran Beach was the perfect way to end the day. I also took an early boat to Nusa Penida. Kelingking Beach was the most iconic viewpoint, but Broken Beach, Angel’s Billabong and Crystal Bay were also worth visiting. The roads can be uneven and the attractions are spread out, so comfortable shoes and an early start are essential. My final sightseeing day focused on East Bali, including Lempuyang Temple, Tirta Gangga and the green landscapes around Sidemen. This side of Bali felt quieter and more traditional. It was a refreshing contrast to the busier beach areas. For transportation, hiring a driver was convenient for full-day routes, while scooters worked better for shorter journeys in quieter areas. My biggest advice is not to pack too many attractions into one day. Bali is best enjoyed slowly, with time for spontaneous cafés, local meals and unexpected viewpoints. We found Dahayu Kitchen almost by accident, but it quickly became one of those places we genuinely wanted to return to. We’ve already been here several times, and every visit feels peaceful, welcoming and wonderfully local. The restaurant is set inside a beautiful traditional Javanese and Balinese-style house, surrounded by greenery and views of the rice fields. It doesn’t feel like one of Bali’s overly polished viral cafés. Instead, it feels more like being invited into a warm family home. This time, we ordered: 🍚 Nasi Campur — Rp50,000 One of the best dishes to order when you want to try several Indonesian flavors at once. Nasi campur means “mixed rice” and usually comes with small portions of vegetables, chicken, tempeh, tofu, sambal and other local sides. The exact combination is different everywhere, which makes it fun to order again in new places. 🥜 Tipat Cantok Special — Rp25,000 A traditional Balinese dish made with rice cake, vegetables and a rich peanut sauce. It’s filling, flavorful and a great choice for anyone who wants to try something more local than the usual avocado toast. 🥚 Extra egg — Rp5,000 ☕ Hot piccolo — Rp23,000 🥑 Seasonal avocado drink — Rp30,000 In Indonesia, avocado is often served as a thick and creamy sweet drink. It may contain sugar, condensed milk or chocolate syrup, so it’s worth asking for less sweetness if that’s what you prefer. 🧊 Iced tea — Rp12,000 🥥 Dadar Gulung — Rp25,000 A traditional green pandan pancake filled with grated coconut and palm sugar. Soft, fragrant and very coconutty — definitely one of the local desserts worth trying in Bali. Our subtotal was Rp170,000, and after the service charge and tax, the final bill was Rp196,350 for seven items. A few useful tips for ordering Balinese food 🌶️ Ask about the spice level, because sambal can be much hotter than expected. 🍚 Start with nasi campur if you’re new to Indonesian food — it lets you taste several dishes in one meal. 🥜 Be careful with peanut allergies, as peanut sauce is common in dishes such as tipat cantok, gado-gado and satay. 🌱 Try tempeh. If you long for a private conversation with time, the 700-year-old Bayan Ancient Tree in Bali must be on your list. Located north of Ubud in Bayan Village, it is considered one of the largest and oldest ancient trees in Bali and holds a very sacred place in the hearts of locals. The tree stands about 70 meters tall with a circumference of 60 meters. Its thick, intertwined roots create a stunning and healing sight when standing beneath it. 📍Location and transportation: Navigate directly to "Bayan Ancient Tree" on Google Maps. Address: H5VP+9QF, Tua, Kec. Marga, Kabupaten Tabanan, Bali 82191. There is no public transportation. It is recommended to charter a car or rent a scooter from Ubud. The one-way trip takes about 40 minutes to 1 hour. If you are heading to Lovina from the airport, it’s on the way. 🎫Tickets and hours: Free admission with voluntary donations. There is a donation box and registration book at the entrance. Suggested donation is around 20,000–50,000 IDR (about CNY 10–25). Open all day. 🌳How to enjoy: It’s perfect for photo ops. There are many roots around you can climb; meditating inside the tree hollow is a soul-refreshing experience. You can ask the tree guardian to guide you into the hollow for meditation and feel the millennia of energy. You can also chat with the guardians and hear their stories—they are very friendly and devoted. There is a small restaurant opposite the tree and a scenic rice field restaurant not far away. ⚠️Tips: Some rainforest areas have snakes and insects. Wear high-top shoes and bring mosquito repellent. The ground is slippery during the rainy season (Nov–Mar), so watch your step. Respect local culture as the tree is considered sacred; avoid inappropriate behavior. Overall, Bayan Ancient Tree is definitely a hidden gem for healing! Although it’s a trip just for a tree, standing beneath it will lighten all your worries. Add it to your Bali list now!

Visiting Komodo was one of the best travel adventures I could ask for! We chose to explore it with Le Pirate and spent 5 days on a boat cruising around crystal lagoons. The nature of Komodo is truly unique and spectacular and so it the wildlife. We were lucky to swim with manta rays, see Komodo dragons and see thousands of bats flying from the mangroves into the sky at sunset. One of the highlights was also sleeping on Le Pirate island which is home to a wonderful coral reef. Komodo is definitely the highlight of our trip around Indonesia! #komodo #indonesia

This national park consists of many small islands which would require you to spend at least 2 – 3 days to enjoy at least the most famous ones. Here you can see the different three island from the top! Have to hike up to the top . First 3 quarters part are stairs , pretty easy to walk . The rest are stones, sometimes can be slippery ! It’s pretty hard to climb up in hot weather. Even though the tour will organize this is the first stop , and begin there around 7:30-8am, still you will feel the hotness.
