Eating pork ribs in a cave? Krčma Šatlava, a cellar restaurant in the town of CK
#2月好去地方2025
When you come to the Czech town of Český Krumlov, you can’t miss this famous cellar restaurant “Krčma Šatlava”! Luckily, we asked on the spot and found out there was room for dinner the next day, so of course we made a reservation immediately.
Walking into Krčma Šatlava is like stepping into a medieval European scene. The atmosphere of the brick-walled cave is very well created, with some antique ornaments and a retro fireplace. Dining under the dim, swaying light is really a special experience.
The cellar restaurant is famous for its pork knuckle ribs, which are large in portion, well-seasoned, tender and chewy. They are quite outstanding. The roasted pork neck (pine board) is also delicious. As for the traditional German bread soup, I really can't get used to it. The taste is too salty, and the bread becomes mushy after being soaked in the soup. I personally don't like it very much.
There are a lot of group guests in the whole restaurant. It seems that the Czech tour groups all choose to eat at this restaurant, so the business is very hot. Although the food is not amazing, it tastes pretty good, the atmosphere is good, and it is not expensive. You can definitely come and try it.

Czech Republic A romantic country worth visiting
In the fairy-tale town in the Czech Republic, just walking around feels like you are in a fairy tale book.
It is recommended that you book a homestay in advance. Most of the homestays here are very standard, clean and have sufficient space.
I highly recommend you go take photos in these alleys.
Just strolling around is already full of romance

Small city traveler, Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic🚗
The reason I started liking small cities,
Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic❤️
I think it was even better because the sky was prettyㅎ
At the Christmas market here,
I bought a Harry Potter music box as a gift for my friend!!
I was embarrassed because the market owner spoke Korean👀
When I walk around Cesky Krumlov,
I feel like I've taken a time machine and gone back in time🕰

Painted Tower|Castle Tower
📸️📍The most obvious building in the castle area is this colorful painted tower, which combines Gothic and Renaissance styles. It is the tallest building in CK town. If you want to visit the lighthouse, you must first climb 147 steps. After reaching the top, you can overlook the beauty of the entire CK town in 360 degrees, just like the scenes of a fairy tale unfolding before your eyes😍😍

This is the real fairy tale town!
Completely different from the expectation that it would be similar to Prague
Another surprise was given by ‘Cesky Krumlov’
This is the second protagonist of the recommendation of small European cities❣️
Isn’t it also the most famous city near Prague?
*Cesky is about 3 hours away from Prague
The more I walked, the more I entered a new space
It felt like a scene from a fairy tale was unfolding!
Cesky,, I got drunk on this place.. ♡
Just walking around the town
I was happy ~ My eyes were dazzled ~ 🥰
⭐️TIP
✔️There is no need to buy a ticket to Cesky Krumlov Castle ❌
From what I found out, I thought I had to buy it, but when I visited in person, it seemed like I only had to buy it to go inside the building ◡̈
✔️Cesky is known to Koreans as a fairy tale city
But as you can see in the picture, it is also quite famous for ‘kayaking’! So I'm going to use this as an excuse to go back and have fun kayaking 🚣🏻♀️🚣🏻♀️♡

Cesky Krumlov is a city in southern Czech Republic, a medieval UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its charming architecture and romantic atmosphere. The Vltava River flows through it.
Almost every tourist planning a trip to the Czech Republic will include Cesky Krumlov in their itinerary. It's a popular tourist destination, often combined with Prague, and a night's stay is highly recommended.
Cesky Krumlov Castle is a large castle built in Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. It currently houses a collection of English furniture, Feltian textiles, and historical weapons.
The walkway leading up to the castle is lined with former medieval guesthouses and St. Jost Church, now converted into apartments. The area surrounding the castle, called Latrán, was where the castle's servants lived. There's also the Round Tower, a vantage point visible from all over the city. The view from the top of the tower is stunning, offering a clear view of the entire city, including the Vltava River that surrounds it.
The Cloak Bridge is an ancient bridge connecting the castle to important landmarks in the city. You can enjoy city views from this bridge.
Old Town Square is a charming central city square. The buildings surrounding Old Town Square are colorful, in Renaissance and Gothic styles. In the center of the square stands the Marian Plague Column and a fountain. Benches are available for relaxation in the square. This area is also used as a venue for various city festivals. The streets within the city are paved with cobblestones.
Lazebnický most is an old wooden pedestrian bridge crossing the Vltava River, connecting the Latran district with the Old Town.

Krčma Šatlava is a restaurant you must try when you visit Cesk.
This renowned restaurant in Český Krumlov is tucked away in a small alley. It's a medieval-style tavern with an interior designed to feel like you're sitting in a cave, featuring dim and somewhat moody lighting. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. If you come for dinner and get seated outside, it can get quite chilly. You should definitely make a reservation in advance, specifying your dining time. We booked our table two full days in advance and got a spot inside, where you can feel the cozy heat from the meat grill. On the day we dined there, we saw some tourist groups who hadn't booked a table and had to wait in line for quite a long time.
The signature dish here is the Roast Pork Knee, grilled to perfection with crispy skin, along with grilled ribs and various other grilled meats. You'll notice that practically every table orders this dish. All the food is delicious and very reasonably priced. If you ever find yourself traveling to Český Krumlov, don't forget to drop by and eat at this restaurant.

🏰 Falling into a medieval time rift: Kulenlov's Red Roof Fairy Tale
If fairytale towns truly exist, they must be Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic. The Vltava River meanders gracefully in an S-curve around this town seemingly forgotten by time, its banks lined with rows of red-tiled roofs shimmering in the sunlight, each brick seemingly holding an ancient legend.
🎭 Highlights: A Blend of History and Aesthetics
· Stunning Panoramic Views: Climb the castle ramp to the famous Cloak Bridge. This magnificent stone bridge, spanning a deep valley and featuring multiple layers of arches, is not only an architectural marvel but also the best vantage point for capturing the "sea of red rooftops."
· The Elegant Atmosphere of the Castle District: Stroll along the cobblestone streets, admiring the exquisite sgraffito decorations on the walls, and feel the former glory of Bohemian nobility.
· The Surprises of the Town's Alleys: Wander through the labyrinthine alleys; every corner, every wooden window, is a postcard-perfect scene.
☕ Traveler's Secrets
· A Timeless Morning: Spending an evening in the town is highly recommended. When the morning mist envelops the town, away from day-trippers, Český Krumlov (CK) truly reveals its tranquil and profound Bohemian soul.
· A Slower-Paced Experience: Don't rush. Choose a riverside café, listen to the gentle flow of water, and let your mind completely relax amidst the waves of red rooftops.
This is more than just a tourist attraction; it's a visual feast of beauty. When visiting the Czech Republic, be sure to reserve your most romantic time for this gem of southern Bohemia.

Vltava Chill Spot🍻 Where Time Dines by the River: Tavern of the Two Maries, Český Krumlov
#hellohalloween #october2025
Nestled along the calm curve of the Vltava River, the Tavern of the Two Maries (Krčma U dwau Maryí) is a place where history lingers in every detail. Wooden tables, candlelight, and the scent of traditional Czech cooking create an atmosphere that feels both timeless and welcoming.
What truly stands out, though, is the warmth of the people. The staff greet you with genuine smiles, making you feel less like a guest and more like a local returning home. I enjoyed a plate of roasted meats and dumplings while watching the river drift by—a view so peaceful it almost feels like part of the meal.
Travel Tip: Come early or late in the afternoon to secure a seat by the water. The tavern is just a short walk from Český Krumlov Castle, perfect for unwinding after a day of wandering through cobbled streets.
At Tavern of the Two Maries, food, friendship, and the river’s gentle rhythm come together in perfect harmony—a reminder that the best moments often flow as quietly as the water beneath you.

Bread and Meat Feast🍞 Krčma Šatlava, Český Krumlov
#hellohalloween #october2025
Hidden within the cobbled lanes of Český Krumlov, Krčma Šatlava offers more than a meal — it’s an experience straight out of the Middle Ages. Step through its arched doorway and you’re greeted by the glow of open flames, the crackle of the hearth, and the scent of meat roasting slowly over embers.
Set within an ancient stone cellar, the tavern’s dim firelight dances across rough-hewn walls and wooden beams, wrapping guests in a timeless, intimate warmth. Here, the past feels alive — each clatter of tankards and hiss from the grill echoing centuries of hearty feasts and laughter.
The stars of the menu are the grilled pork ribs and steaks, cooked before your eyes on the open fire, their smoky aroma filling the room. Paired with a cold Czech beer, it’s rustic perfection — comfort and authenticity at their finest.
💡 Tip: Šatlava is immensely popular, so reservations (by email) are highly recommended. Come hungry, come early, and let this fiery cellar transport you into the delicious heart of medieval Bohemia.

Český Krumlov: Fairytale Vibes in Czech Republic 🏰🛶
I wanted to share Český Krumlov with you. It’s one of those towns that feels like it’s been waiting for you. Like someone opened a very old book and let the pages spill out onto the banks of a winding river.
📸✨ Get your camera ready for this fairytale town. This place isn't big. You can walk the whole thing in a few hours. When you turn a corner and suddenly, there is that castle in the pictures. It just takes your breath away. I remember standing there, and the air was cool and I could hear the sound of the river running and it felt like I was in a completely different time.
The castle is the main thing, of course. You have to climb the tower. The view from up there, it’s not just a view of buildings. It’s a view of a story. A very old story, with red roofs and the river carving its own path through time. It’s the kind of place that just makes me happy to be a part of it.
A lot of people come for the day, and they get to see a little bit of the town. But the real town, the one that hums with life, that one wakes up after the buses leave. If you can, stay the night. Just one night. Walk the streets when they’re quiet, when the lights come on and the sound of the river is all you hear. It’s a feeling that’s hard to describe, but it’s a moment of true peace.
For food, go for the fresh Czech classics. Hearty goulash, thick slices of roasted pork. Most restaurants serve up meals with real heart. And the beer, of course. Just find a little place by the river and listen to the quiet.
More stops:
· Church of St. Vitus (Kostelní ul., 381 01): Epic gothic architecture and serious main character energy.
· Egon Schiele Art Centrum (Široká 71): For the artsy vibes.
· Museum Fotoatelier Seidel (Linecká 272): Throwback to vintage photography styles!
· Wax Museum (Kájovská 68): Take a quirky peek at Czech history.
· Regional Museum (Horní 152): Don’t miss the giant ceramic model of old-town Krumlov!

This fairytale town of 15,000 is located nearly four hours south of Prague and nestled in the hills of the southern Czech Republic. It's a popular destination for its tranquil countryside. With its charming cobblestoned old town, rare Baroque theater, and colorful castle, Český Krumlov feels like you've been transported back in time.
A longtime tourist attraction, situated on a sharp bend in the Vltava River, it was a safe and popular settlement for Celtic, then Germanic, and Slavic tribes. During its golden age in the 16th century, Český Krumlov welcomed artists, scientists, and alchemists from across Europe.

[Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic] A World Heritage Site with a medieval European townscape
Cesky Krumlov, a World Heritage Site in the southern Czech Republic
It is a World Heritage city where medieval European streetscapes remain intact, including Cesky Krumlov Castle, built in the 13th century.
It is a little less than two hours by car from Prague, so we recommend taking an optional tour!
Cesky Krumlov Castle is a mixture of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque styles, and it is recommended to go with a guide who will explain in detail about Western style, life at that time, and the meaning of the coat of arms.
The five-petal rose coat of arms seen throughout the castle belongs to the Rosenberg family, who ruled from the 13th to the 16th centuries. 🌹
The Castle Tower has only stairs, but it is recommended as it offers a panoramic view of the city of Cesky Krumlov.
The painting collection, the residences of the successive lords, and the furniture collection can only be viewed on a guided tour, so be sure to join the optional tour!

Beer is cheap! It's delicious!
Prices in the Czech Republic are cheaper than in Austria.
The exchange rate at the currency exchange in the city is not bad, so I exchanged money here.
Now, to the popular restaurant I had reserved.
Restaurant: Krcma v Satlavske Ulici
Reservations are required even in the off-season!
I'm not good at making reservations over the phone, so I went to the restaurant directly before it opened and made a reservation. lol
I ordered a beef steak and the restaurant's recommended grill combo, but it was too much for three people. lol
I didn't need the steak in terms of quantity, but the steak was the best.
They grilled it over charcoal in front of me, so everything was delicious!
I couldn't snack, so I couldn't order dessert, which was a shame.
The two girls sitting behind me ate the entire combo (feels good)
The staff were all friendly and kind.
The customers even talked to me kindly and took photos for me.
I'm impressed by how many kind people there are in the Czech Republic!
