St. Brelade’s Bay in Jersey- Honestly, it’s just a fantastic beach. Soft sand that’s great to walk on, water that’s actually clear and calm, perfect for swimming without getting bashed around by waves. Loads of places to eat right there, from fancy seafood spots to quick cafes for a sandwich. I saw families, couples, everyone just chilling or messing about on paddleboards. The church nearby is worth a look if you’re into that kind of thing. Got there early, so parking wasn’t a pain. Sunset was epic – the kind you actually want to take a photo of. Enjoying the adventure of Channel Island

During the five years that the British Crown dependency Jersey was occupied by Germany during World War II, the entire island was built into an unsinkable aircraft carrier. The French Atlantic coast became Germany's outpost. In order to prevent the Allies from attacking France from the sea in the future, the Germans began to build defensive facilities with reinforced concrete on the Black Mountain Cape on the island of Jersey in the English Channel as early as 1941. These included a large command bunker equipped with four 150mm SK L/45 naval guns. Later, before the Allied landing in Normandy, Jersey was first occupied to clear the obstacles for a successful landing. This defensive position was the only German naval coastal battery on the island and was part of Hitler's infamous Atlantic Wall. It is one of the few relatively unspoilt areas on Jersey's south coast. The La Corbiere Lighthouse on Jersey, a British Crown dependency, is located on the rocks of a tidal island. Only at low tide can people walk to the lighthouse from the shore via a causeway. There are alarms to remind visitors to clear the causeway at high tide, but despite this there have been casualties from the careless or unlucky. A plaque beside the causeway commemorates the lighthouse's assistant keeper, Peter Edwin La Balestier, who drowned on 28 May 1946 while trying to rescue a tourist who was cut off by a high tide. La Corbiere Lighthouse was the first lighthouse in the British Isles to be built of concrete. The tower is 19 metres high and the light is 36 metres above high tide. It was built to the designs of British civil engineer Sir John Coode and was first lit on April 24, 1874. The beam has a range of 33 km and was automated in 1976. During the German occupation of Jersey during World War II, this was one of the main defensive positions, and the fortifications are almost intact, including a reinforced concrete blockhouse with five shooting floors (Figure 2). The lighthouse is one of Jersey's most photographed landmarks and is almost a must-see for visitors.
