Songjiang - THAMES TOWN - Check out
We heard about this place and decided to go check it out.
The town is very nice! Lovely little town to just walk around and escape Shanghai! You'll find Thames town on the outskirts of Shanghai in Songjiang District. It takes a while to get there via public transport so be prepared to spend a whole day (From the city about 1 - 1.5 hours by subway). Take line 9 to SongJiang University Town station, and after that a taxi (about 20RMB) another 10 to 15 min journey. Entry is free to the area.
You'll find several statues of British people/ characters, such as Shakespeare, Dickens, James Bond and Harry Potter along with rows of shops, homes and restaurants. Doesn’t feel like you are in China or Shanghai at all. On the edge of the town, you'll find a large lake. Many of the shops were closed or empty when I visited, but there were still plenty there, and many restaurants too, ranging from British to Italian to Chinese. The main attraction of visiting is to wander around the streets and enjoying the architecture and buildings, and I also enjoyed watching the Chinese couples having their wedding photos taken.
Take your time to walk around. You will feel like you are not in China but at the suburbs of an English town, complete with a square, a Catholic church, bridges over water, quaint coffee shops and bookstores, etc
Grainger & Co with stood out to me as a place with decent food/drink choices. Prices are relatively cheap here and not boosted up due to the tourist area.
Thames Town was completed in 2006, and it’s part of a government project “One City, Nine Towns” which aimed to build desirable places for citizens to live outside of the city. The aim was to attract people away from the center, thereby reducing congestion and overcrowding.
If you want to visit a copied English town and get a taste of a UK town here in Shanghai, come here!
Address: No.900 Sanxinbei Road, Songjiang District, Shanghai 201620

Euxinograd Palace near Varna
#gooutside around #varna to see this place.
This in itself can be half a day trip. An 1800s French-style palace, a former summer residence of Bulgarian royals, with extensive gardens. The name itself comes from Pontus Euxinus, the old Greek name for the Black sea.
It offers guided tours which you can book and they’re offered in any language you want as long as it’s in Bulgarian. The guide will try to accommodate other speakers in some parts of the tour but be prepared for an all round Bulgarian tour.
Fun fact, the estate hosts some impressive vineyards where they make only white wine and brandy which they call Euxignac. It derives from the famous brandies from Cognac which they put a local Bulgarian twist on them.

Checkinaway (@checkinawayblog) Beautiful Peles Castle in Sinaia, Romania
Beautiful Peles Castle in Sinaia, Romania 🇷🇴. Definitely worth a visit!
Sinaia 🇷🇴, the famous mountainous city where the Royal (Aldovian 😃) Romanian family reside. Although, Netflix seems to have brought international fame to this mountain resort by choosing it for its famous Christmas movies, Sinaia has always enjoyed the spotlight when it comes to attention.
It’s built in Neo-Renaissance and was the residence of King Charles I. It’s now a museum of national heritage artefacts.
Interesting fact – Peles Castle was the first castle in Europe to be lighten up with locally produced electricity. Take that!

📍 Address- Caozhuang subway station. Didi to Yangliuqing Ancient Town. Or bus 175.
📍 Tickets - free ✨
A part of ancient working town.
It’s a big traditional open air place. You can walk all around “old style” houses, squares and streets, along the canal and take a boat ride.
Very quite historical place with small cafes around the corners.
If you want to take some pictures in Chinese traditional clothes you will find small studios. There it’s possible to rent clothes and staff will open additional photo locations for you.
Perfect way to spend the day!

#timetotravel #ferriswheel #biggest #amazing #view #interesting Tianjin Eye of Yongle Bridge. A wonderful tourists location in #Tianjin, north China. When night falls, the Tianjin Eye transforms into a dazzling spectacle. It takes 30 minutes for the Ferris wheel to rotate around, and when it reaches the highest point, the surrounding scenery is panoramic, and you can even see the scenery within a 40-kilometer radius. The wheel’s position on the bridge allows for spectacular vistas of the Hai River, bustling streets, and historic landmarks, creating a captivating blend of old and new. The Tianjin Eye is surrounded by a host of other attractions that visitors can explore. The Hai River Cruise is another popular activity, allowing visitors to enjoy a leisurely boat ride and observe the Tianjin Eye from a different perspective. The Tianjin Eye is easily accessible by various modes of transportation, including buses, taxis, and the metro. It is a nice location, go with your lover. #travel

Flat Iron building in NYC
#nyinsider #newyorkcity #unitedstates #nyc #unusualplace #interesting #flatiron
The Flatiron Building is unique and makes for a rare sight. It is located in a heavily trafficked neighborhood with a number of restaurants and shops. We had to go and see this building with our own eyes.
Depending on the side from which you are seeing the building, you can see why it is called the Flat Iron building.
The Flatiron Building, originally the Fuller Building, is a triangular 22-story, 285-foot-tall steel-framed landmarked building at 175 Fifth Avenue in the eponymous Flatiron District neighborhood of the borough of Manhattan in New York City.
Checkinaway (@checkinawayblog) Ellis Island - better than expected
#nyinsider #newyorkcity #unitedstates #ellisisland #interesting
Soooo ... we didn't really plan to visit Ellis Island but it came as part of our ticket to the Statue of Liberty. Wow, this place was so interesting and we leant so much.
Given our experience, we would certainly recommend.
Many of the people that came here first were met by doctors inspecting them and border agents looking them up for any suspicious behaviour. It is interesting that you just needed $20 and to be in good health in order to enter the USA 🇺🇸
Ellis Island is open every day except Thanksgiving (the 4th Thursday in November) and December 25th. Hours change seasonally. There is no entrance fee.

The Piano Steps In Berjaya Times Sqaure
Do you know Berjaya Times Sqaure has many interesting stuff apart from just the many shops that sells your clothings, shoes and accessories or the many food stalls too? The mall has a cinema, a indoor amusement park that has an indoor roller coaster.
But looking for some free fun stuff? Head to the basement of berjaya times square you will find this very interesting musical steps. Yup! Musical steps where you walk on it like a piano and it makes the sounds on what piano does. You will see alot of people walking up and down the piano which makes it rather interesting. I have to say this is one of the very few things I've seen that interest me in a mall!

Do you know how these animals are called?
#gooutside and feed the #coati
❓ Did you know these animals are called coatis?
ℹ️ There were plenty of animals at our hotel in Playa del Carmen 🇲🇽 from iguanas, to interesting birds, monkeys and coatis. We haven’t seen coatis before and were really intrigued, we even called them “fake monkeys” 😀
The coatis have a long snout of a pig, the tail of a raccoon, and the tree-climbing ability of a monkey. We had lots of these at the beach and enjoyed feeding them.
Playa del Carmen is located in eastern Mexico on the Yucatan Peninsula, along the Caribbean Sea in the state of Quintana Roo. Due to its geographical location in Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen features a wide array of tourist activities with lots of places to visit nearby.
