Should you visit Koh Samui, Thailand?🇹🇭
📍Koh Samui
We arrived in Koh Samui on a ferry from Surat Thani. As we approached the pier, the ferry was flooded with heavy rain- so our first day & a half in Koh Samui were pretty cloudy & rainy. We tried to enjoy it nevertheless!
On our last day, the sun was shining & we headed to the Wat Plai Laem temples this morning - probably the craziest ones we’ve seen!
And then we decided to detach from our phones and spend the rest of the day at the beach, jumping through the HUGE waves and sunbathing🌞
Koh Samui is a total party island & very touristy - if that’s your thing, you’ll love it, if not, try Koh Tao!

Afternoon stroll around Tuk-Tuk, Samosir
Tuktuk Siadong is a small village is located in a small cape in Samosir Island.
I arrived in Samosir Island at noon. After checking in Hotel Tuk-Tuk Timbul, I decide to explore Tuk-Tuk on foot since I had no other means of transport. It was about 2 km from my hotel.
There were many hotels in Tuk-Tuk. Some of the hotels facing Lake Toba had private beach and nice views of the lake. Sadly I think most of the hotels did not have many guests and some even seemed deserted.
I had late lunch at Maruba Restaurant and I was the only customer there after the previous customers left. I ordered beer battled fish & chips and tamarillo juice. Food was good.
I also bought some souvenirs at few of the souvenir shops in Tuk-Tuk. Many shops sell wooden sculptures of batak houses. Do get some keychains of batak houses for your loved ones when you are there!

Travelers’ Meeting Place in Bangkok (Khaosan)
#bkkinsider
KhaoSan Road is the most popular meeting place for travelers in Bangkok. It is located in what is called the old city of Bangkok.
You can see tattooists, tuk-tuks, people selling tours and masseurs all over this crowded street.
In this region, where there are hotels, bars and restaurants around, if you come in the evening, you cannot find a place to take a step.
If you like nightlife or crowded environment, I definitely recommend you to come here. After eating your meal at a reasonable price, you can have your massage or go to a club.

The city of Angels ”Bangkok”
#bkkinsider
Bangkok, one of the most populated cities in Asia, is rich with religious temples with magnificent architecture.
It is the most impressive capital of Asia with Thai massage and delicious street food. Since the city is very big, it is very difficult to travel on foot, so you can rent a local vehicle such as a tuktuk and travel easily.
Bangkok is notorious for its really heavy traffic, so I recommend that you plan your time accordingly. When you come to Bangkok, do not forget to visit beautiful temples and palaces, I also recommend you to try the floating market.

Angkor Wat, The Ancient and The Unique
✈️ Getting There - Angkor Wat is located in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The best way to get to and around Angkor Wat is to rent a tour from your hotel that will include a Tuk-Tuk, car or a van with a driver. Tickets to Angkor Wat itself are: 1 day pass at $37, 3 day pass at $62 and 7 day pass at $72.
🤩 Attractions - Angkor Wat is an ancient temple complex that offers a lot of cultural knowledge. Drive and walk around and enjoy the architecture.
🏨 Hotels - There are plenty of decent hotel in Siem Ream that offer good service and value for money.
🍲 Food & Restaurants - There are some food stalls at Angkor Wat itself but it’s better to eat in Siem Ream before your trip begins. Local food in Cambodia isn’t good in my opinion so I’d recommend to eat at a western restaurant instead.
That’s about it! Enjoy your trip to Angkor Wat 😊

🇹🇭 Travel by Tuk-tuk in Thailand
A tuk tuk is a three-wheeled or four-wheeled motorized vehicle commonly used for transportation in many Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand. It typically consists of a small cabin for passengers, powered by a motorcycle engine, and a driver's seat in the front. Tuk tuks are known for their compact size, maneuverability in traffic, and colorful decorations. They are a popular and iconic mode of transport for short trips within cities and towns. Traveling by tuk tuk in Thailand can be a thrilling and convenient experience. Do negotiate the fare beforehand as it is common for tuk tuk drivers to quote inflated prices to tourists.

Getting around in Bangkok: Taxi Grab TukTuk
To/From Airport to Hotel - definitely book an early transport via trip.com or other means. This will give you less stress once you arrived at the airport or when leaving town. Grab will be slightly cheaper than taxi but will require you to wait for one which can take abt 15-20mins wait. Our taxi tried to scam us saying fees are rate +200 baht airport service fees eventhough the counter mentioned rate+ 100baht extra for service fees (see above). Taxi cost 750 baht (~8pm weekdays) make sure u have small change else they will say they have no change for 1000 baht.
Uber vs Tuk Tuk for getting around: definitely Grab! Its cheaper and yes the price do go up during peak hours or during raining. For the experience and faster transport, then go with Tuk Tuk. Tuk Tuk cost about 250-300baht around town (eg.mbk to pratunam). They can beat traffic too! Also with Grab, if you book, make sure you dont cancel as they can still pretend to pick and drop you off and charge you eventhough you didnt go on the ride (see picture: i cancelled the trip then somehow the ride is completed after 20mins! crazy)

Should you visit Koh Tao, Thailand?🇹🇭
Koh Tao📍
5 Nights on the beautiful island of Koh Tao. We’ve absolutely adored just lazing on the beach everyday, after the crazy activities in Bangkok & Chiang Mai.
The highlights; paddleboarding & kayaking, the fireshows, the best smoothie bowls & pizzas and being able to watch Netflix for the first time in three weeks🤣
