Let’s go to Fort Canning Heritage Gallery!
#2024wish
It was such a good surprise to visit Fort Canning Heritage Gallery during my walk in Fort Canning Park. I was able to explore the evolution of the hill through collections of natural history art and photographs. There is a display covering the flora and fauna of the hill. Most of them being typical South East Asian critters including hornbills, squirrel, monitor lizards and jungle fowls, which I could spot roaming the outdoor gardens sometimes. Interestingly, there is also a payphone handset which I tried to dial the shown numbers to listen to interviews with Singaporeans sharing their memories of the Fort Canning Park.

Fort Canning Heritage Gallery
#2024wish
It was such a fun experience exploring Fort Canning Heritage Gallery. I was very much impressed with the collection of various artifacts recovered from the site, as well as a well-preserved pillar displayed in a timeless glass case. There are even a Chinese porcelain compass and fragments of a porcelain pillow recovered that date all the way back to the 14th century! Many interactive stations available across the gallery make the experience more immersive and help visitors gain a more comprehensive understanding of the place’s history. This including an interactive panel which shows the troops movement in the Battle of Singapore.

From Military Base to Recreational Space
#2024wish
If you are into Singapore's history, there is this place that you absolutely have to check out - Fort Canning Heritage Gallery at Fort Canning Centre. It showcases how pivotal Fort Canning Hill in the development of Singapore from being a government base to a recreational space. There are also many interactive stations such as a digital, no-touch storybook that helps to set the scene with legendary tales about Singapura. The most impressive thing for me would be the original pillar of the building left untouched over the years.

I have always loved Fort Canning Park for its wonderful mix of nature and history. It has gotten even better with the new Fort Canning Heritage Gallery. Upon entering the lobby, there is a display of rickshaws here which creates nice photo opportunity. There is also a variety of plants and spices such as turmeric, nutmeg, ginger, onion and more that are on display. It's fun to be able to touch and smell them!

A place for History enthusiasts 🤓 !
#2024wish
If you happened to be in Fort Canning Park, do check out the hidden Fort Canning Heritage Gallery which traces the rich history of the hill. This heritage gallery spans over two levels of the south wing of Fort Canning Centre and is divided into five zones. Starting from the introduction zone, I could see a wall that's filled with different names of many places. There is also a curved wall where significant milestones and years are marked out. Slowly walking and read through the information, I felt like I was transported back in time!

Beautiful Fort Canning Heritage Gallery
#2024wish
It was a nice to spend my Saturday afternoon in Fort Canning Heritage Gallery. This place provides a window into the hill’s 700-year history. I could trace the rich histories of Fort Canning Park and its significance through the detailed and informative panels that are organized to cover five periods in Fort Canning Park's history. I could also see the enormous effort pouring to put this place together such as the impressive painted stairwell in the rear service sections of the Fort Canning center.

This is one of the less known heritage gallery in Singapore but it is so informative and educational to have spent an hour plus here. It all started from the introduction zone where a curved wall detailing all the significant milestones. Along the way there are artefacts from the 14th century, excavated from sites around Fort Canning Park. Modern features are also integrated to provide an interesting an immersive experience to visitors. There is an interactive book going through Singapore legend folktales. #2024wish
This is an inspiring public sculptures in Singapore and the world's longest sculptures at 192 meters in length. The idea came from raising awareness and calling for action to re-wild the word. It features 45 of the world’s most endangered species led by a gorilla, one of our closest relatives, marching together to save the animal kingdom by re-wilding the world. Do look out for the QR codes on each animal, it would come to life and start marching after visitors scan the codes and can learn more about each animal.

The Most Fragrant Garden: Colonial Garden 🍃
#singapore
The colors feature in Colonial Garden shows Singapore’s history as a British colony. The black and white verandahs and frangipani trees bearing white flowers are inspired by the colonial houses of the early 1900s. There is also a small plantation in this area to display how important agriculture was in development of Singapore. Interestingly, there are a few sniffing stations where boxes containing of spices such as pepper, coffee and more are available for visitors to take a few sniffs and learn more about the spices itself!

Chinese Garden is part of the Heritage Gardens. It's based on the Theme "Plants and People". Here, I could notice the traditional Chinese elements such as the bamboo tree, stone statues with decorative rocks representing mountains and water features symbolising rivers or lakes and creates a beautiful natural landscape. There are also interestingly-sculptured rocks resembling a rabbit and a hammer! There is this very signature circular moon-shaped opening in the garden wall known as a “moon gate” is another distinctive feature that frames an inviting view and beckons one to explore the space beyond it.

There are stone elephant statues which is the also a sacred symbol for Indians. There is also a feature wall displaying the information about Indian cultures and traditions.

🇸🇬Plant House-A hidden spot worth exploring
#singapore
The Plant House is tucked away from the main trail of the Gardens and this is one of the less known spots in Singapore Botanic Gardens. Leading towards the Plant House, I had to go through the Prisoner-of-War brick steps. There are arrows marked on the bricks as a sign of defiance. Upon entering the Plant House, I could see a pool for lotus flower. The view was so peaceful and nice especially in a breezy morning. I could stay there for sometime to enjoy the view and let my mind wander.

🇸🇬Swan Lake-Tranquility and Serenity 🦢🌤️
#singapore
This is a major attraction in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Going into Botanic Gardens through the Tanglin gate entrance, I was immediately welcome by the large beautiful lake scene of the Swan Lake. There is no way that I could missed the almost realistic bronze structure of swans in the midst of their ascent adorns the centre of Swan Lake, rightly named Flight of Swans. I like spending some time here to soothe my mind and just let my mind wander in the clear water of this tranquil lake, while watching blue sky and swans swimming and enjoying the lake breezes. The iconic spot to enjoy Swan Lake is the Gazebo, a garden shelter made of cast-iron and a wooden roof. It also makes a nice picture spot.

The most popular place in this garden would be the treehouse slides 🛝 ! It looks really fun and tall and our little one was having a great time sliding down! There is also a maze for kids to run around. It is pretty huge and educational place to explore and play, offering endless fun and learning opportunities. 🇸🇬RainForest Trail for Nature Lovers🌳🪵🍃🐿️
#singapore
This is one of my favourite parts in Singapore Botanic Gardens! It is a nice rainforest path that I could walk through and feel like I am well and truly experiencing nature. There's a long wooden board path to guide you through the rainforest area and the trees and foliage are quite dense. It is very cooling in the area. Along the way I saw some squirrels 🐿️ jumping around the trees and that gave me little shocks here and there but I think this is the real experience of being in a forest! Trees as tall as 60 meters are highlighted and I was amazed by the work of nature. Also, I spotted a reptile and managed to get a close up of it! I could also hear insects humming that was also captured in the video and it makes such a well orchestrated sound in the background. It was so so so calming! Definitely a must visit for those who enjoy walking through rainforests, this is a heave for nature lovers even though the entire walk isn't that long.

🇸🇬Photogenic Waterfall in Botanic Gardens💦
#singapore
This is such a nice little waterfall in Botanic Gardens! It’s actually and man-made one but it’s still beautiful nonetheless! It has a little cave behind that I could walk through and it’s very calming and cooling after a long walk under the sun. The sound of the water is very therapeutic too. The ceiling drips and you get a little spray from the waterfall as well so you can cool off a little. This spot also makes a nice picture spot by having yourself standing in the cave and someone snap some pictures from opposite and you will get a lovely photo with the waterfall right smack in the center of your frame.
