Nara Park 🦌in spring, regretting being late
Nara Park, this is a must visit place when visiting Nara!
Here, you can fully enjoy the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms blooming, while capturing the cute Nara deer and beautitul cherry blossoms in the same painting. This is definitely a paradise for photography enthusiasts!🌸
This is the most long-awaited scenic spot in my journey. There are many little deer here, and I am not afraid of not being able to capture other colors. As long as there are fairy shells and deer cubs in my hands, I will chase you. Some will even use my head to rub against you and make important fairy shells. It is so cute!
The area is very large, and there will be many little deer along the way, as well as a large range of "big and small". However, the environment is still very clean. It's just important to watch and like them when walking, and you don't need to step on the country's Nara deer park.

A restaurant in 100 years old house 💯
#2024wish #nara #couplestrip #couplestrip #deliciousfood
This is the 1st meal we had when we arrived in Nara, Japan from Kyoto. The sky got dark by the time where the whole street was so quiet and we cannot even hear the talking of anyone through the wall walking along.
Thought we have to settle the dinner in Family Mart or 7-11 but lucky that we managed to find this vegetarian restaurant through the Happy Cow App. From the Henn na Hotel we stayed, it was a 20 min walk to there and it is hidden in the residential area. Shop was remained closing and lights were off when we were there but that was a sign board showing open so we just ring the bell to try our luck. Thanks god the owner opens the door and on the light saying ok to serve us as last customer!!!
Entire dining experience is unique as we just sit on the floor with a bar table in a 100 years old house with the dim light. Owners were so kind to us and told us that this was their grandparents place until they turn it into a restaurant about 30 years ago.
Overall food taste is good and I will give a 8 out of 10.

Feeding the deer in Nara
Nara Park is one of the must-see areas in Nara City. It is a nice place to see hundreds of deer roaming freely.
Feeding the deer is one of the highlights when visiting the park. Some deer are aggresive tho, they will be chasing you if they smell the crackers, which you can buy around the park for 200 yen.
When you bow your head to the deer, they bow back to
you.
Getting there:
From Kyoto, take the JR Nara Line from Kyoto Station to JR Nara Station. Miyakoji rapid trains depart every 30 minutes, and the trip takes about 45 minutes one-way. It is covered by the JR Pass. Local trains are also available, but take an hour and fifteen minutes one-way.

The park's surroundings boast incredible temples like Todaiji, with its awe-inspiring Great Buddha statue. There's also Kokufu-ji, Kasuga Taisha, and other interesting sites surrounding the deer park.
Exploring the park and these historic temples is a perfect way to immerse yourself in Nara's rich history and natural beauty. It's a must-visit for anyone traveling to Japan! 🦌🏯

The worlds biggest Bronze Buddha statue
The Todai-ji temple near Nara park contains the worlds biggest bronze Buddha statue in an enormous wooden temple built over 300 years ago.
The temple is set in grounds surrounded by deer that move around from the Nara park, with smaller temples and shrines dotted around the grounds.
The Buddha itself is within a museum and you need to lay about $5 to enter, but it’s totally worth it. It’s absolutely mind blowing, the sheer scale of the Buddha and the structure built to house it is hard to comprehend.
There are many smaller shrines inside and some interesting wooden models that shows the construction history.
If you’re feeling brave and small there is a famous hole the size of the Buddhas nostril for you to try and crawl through
The temple closes around 5 and they do last entry at 4:30 so try and come as early as possible to avoid disappointment!

Oh deer! Thousands of deer at Nara Park 🦌
Nara park is world famous for the Nara deer that roam around the grounds, around 1500 at the last count. These deer have been protected for at least 1000 years and have become an inseparable part of the city, you will see there image everywhere.
You can reach the park from Nara station on bus routes, about 4 stops from the station, taxis or direct on trains from Osaka, Kobe & Kyoto.
The deer are very docile and friendly, If you are calm and considerate you can get close enough for photos and to touch them.
The local shops sell food tor about $1.5 for you to feed them. But be careful, the deers can get very excited about the food and ground around you very quickly!
It’s easier to find one or two deers on their own and feed them, feeding the large crowds can become very overwhelming!
It’s a great trip for the whole family, and then there is plenty to do in the town before you go home - lots of food options and walking streets for souvenirs.

Nara Deer Park Review
The Nara Deers are cute and all but they get really feisty when you have food!
Remember to ONLY feed the Nara Deers with food bought from the park! One pack of biscuits (10 inside) is 200 yen! You can get the food from any white standing wheel carts pushed by oba-chans (aunties).
I’ve been chased non-stop by the deers once I bought my food. It was extremely horrifying.
Here’s a tip! Get your camera ready once you find a deer to bow at! Because they will only bow at you twice or thrice max before they get bored of you!

Play with the deer at Todaiji Temple 🦌
Todaiji Temple is the landmark of Nara. It is located at the Nara park where not only you can pray at the temple but also feed and play with the deer! But be careful, some deer are in big size and may scare you 🤣
The buddha in this post’s cover photo is in Daibutsuden hall which is known as the world’s largest wooden building!
The park is quite big so you will need to walk a lot but I think it’s not a problem if you visit here during winter time. #todaiji #nara #narapark

Luxurious JW Marriott hotel in Nara, Japan
#staycation
Wow, wow, and wow! Those were my initial reactions upon stepping into my room at the JW Marriott Hotel Nara, Japan.
For starters, the JW Marriott Hotel Nara is Japan's very first JW Marriott hotel! One would expect it to be in Tokyo, but breaking into Japan via the world famous Nara is an intellegent choice too.
I stayed in the entry-level Deluxe Twin Double Guest Room with a city view. It's amply sized at 36sqm2, and is super luxurious and well appointed. Here are some of the highlights:
- 55in LCD TV
- Separate bathtub and shower
- Aromatherapy bathroom amenities!
- Large refrigerator
- Delicious breakfasts
The property also boasts awesome dining options. Silk Road Dining (fusion) was my favourite! Do check out Azekura and The Flying Stag, which is a lounge/bar.
Although the parking was a bit confusing, the service, attention to detail and food were simply excellent. When in Nara, do give this hotel a try. JW Marriott once again does not disappoint.

A hidden autumn paradise near Osaka / Kyoto
A beautiful autumn escape from the nearby cities of Osaka, Kyoto or Nara, the Hoshi no Buranko bridge in Hoshida Park is well worth the trip.
Hoshida Park is a prefecture level forest park in the Ikoma mountains. In autumn, the leaves are transformed into stunning red, orange and yellow shades, with the hillside almost on fire with colour.
The walk itself starts at Kisaichi station, from where it's around a two hour round-trip to the Hoshi no Buranko bridge. Although the bridge itself is the main attraction, it's the peaceful walk through the forest which made the trip for me.

🇯🇵 🦌 Nara deer
Konnichawa and welcome to the city of deer in Japan. You have to read this for some life-saving tips. The deer will come towards you as long you have food with you or you have deer crackers with you. They will nibble at your clothes and even push you. So if you ar afraid, then don’t carry any food with you. I wear a raincoat over my clothes and after spending time with them, my raincoat got many holes. You can use the deer crackers and redirect the deers to move to a nicer spot to take photos. There are many greenery in Nara parks and you can take the deer with the autumn backdrop as well. The deer will also bow as you before eating your cracker.
Japan reopened on 11 Oct and I will be there berry soon!

🇯🇵 Todai-Ji Temple
A lovely temple to visit and the views there are amazing. In the temple, they also have a tree hole for you to pass through. It is supposed to be the nostrils of the Buddha and if you can pass through then you will be able to seek enlightenment in your next life. This tree hole is pretty small and children can pass through easily. If you do a search, Todai-Ji temple will appear among the top hits for awesome views in Nara. Many years back, I would bring along my camera. Time fast forward and my phone camera can take nicer photos too. Bring whatever is suitable for you and make sure you have enough memories to capture everything at Todai-Ji temple.

Adorable and mostly friendly deers in Japan
Visited Nara Park in Kyoto years back, the weather was lovely during early spring and many cherry blossoms trees bloomed. The deers roamed freely and are very intelligent, following you around when they smell the treats you can buy from vendors there. Some deers also bow when you give them a bow, extremely adorable! The views and temples around also are great for photos and creates a very relaxing environment. Highly recommend visiting!

TodaiJi Shrine - Nara
#passionpassport
When completed in the 740s, Todai-ji was the largest building project ever on Japanese soil. Its creation reflects the complex intermingling of Buddhism and politics in early Japan. When it was rebuilt in the 12th century, it ushered in a new era of Shoguns and helped to found Japan’s most celebrated school of sculpture. The roots of Todai-ji are found in the arrival of Buddhism in Japan in the 6th century. Buddhism made its way from India along the Silk Route through Central Asia, China and Korea. Buddhism quickly became associated with the Imperial court whose members became the patrons of early Buddhist art and architecture. #todaiji #visitjapan #kyoto #nara

Nara is located less than one hour from Kyoto and Osaka. Due to its past as the first permanent capital, the city remains full of historic treasures, including some of Japan's oldest and largest temples. Japan's first permanent capital was established in the year 710 at Heijo, the city now known as Nara. Before that date, the capital used to be moved to a new location whenever a new emperor ascended to the throne.
