🐲⛩️🏔️ The Great Wall 🏔️⛩️🐲
Glistening with snow in the winter months, China's great wall truly is a must visit.
The sheer size of the wall and its surroundings can only really be grasped by visiting. Badaling is one of the more popular and accessible locations on the wall. Although there were many other walkers, there was still space to breathe and have your own personal space.
The climbs are deceptively steep, and it can be rather slippy at times, however the views and historical significance makes it worthwhile.

The Simatai Great Wall
Gubei Water Town is a gorgeous fairy-tale town situated below the Great Wall. The Simatai Great wall looms so high above the water town, it gives the impression that it may be floating in the clouds, as the lights of wall switch on at dusk and are just barely visible through a thin layer of mist that gently veils the mountain.
I suggest a walk up to the Great Wall, the scenery is incredible, and then to take the cable car down.
The water town is best explored in the evening/night, it really comes to life and there are many types of delicious foods and beautiful trinkets to be bought.
Enjoy your Fairy-tale escape☺️

Beijing vacation tour! July & August 2023
Had a great time this first trip to Beijing - The Holiday Inn Express Temple of Heaven really helped make things perfect. Typhoon rain ruined the first two days of my trip but the hotel was a great place to get some much needed rest. The breakfast buffet was fantastic! The free ground roast coffee machine in the lobby was a nice touch. Housekeeping was fast, efficient & unobtrusive. The front lobby staff were really profesional and friendly - I don't speak Chinese and they were very helpful translating for me with taxis and whatnot. Thanks for everything, y'all! #summervacation#thegreatwall #holidayinnexpress

The Great Wall
Certainly! Here's a sample travel itinerary for exploring the Great Wall of China:
Day 1:
- Arrive in Beijing: Land at Beijing Capital International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Beijing. Take the rest of the day to relax and acclimate to the city.
Day 2:
- Explore Beijing: Spend the day exploring Beijing's iconic landmarks. Visit Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world, and explore the magnificent Forbidden City, once home to Chinese emperors. In the evening, you can immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Beijing's traditional hutongs (narrow alleyways) and try local street food.
Day 3:
- Mutianyu Great Wall: Take a day trip to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, located approximately 1.5 to 2 hours' drive from Beijing. This section offers breathtaking scenery and is known for its well-preserved architecture. Spend the day hiking along the wall, taking in the panoramic views, and exploring the watchtowers. You can choose to hike up or take a cable car for convenience.
Day 4:
- Beijing City Exploration: Dedicate the day to further exploring Beijing's cultural and historical sites. Visit the Temple of Heaven, an imperial complex where emperors performed rituals. Explore the Summer Palace, a vast imperial garden with beautiful pavilions, lakes, and gardens. In the evening, you can watch a traditional Chinese performance or enjoy Peking Opera.
Day 5:
- Badaling Great Wall: Embark on a day trip to the Badaling section of the Great Wall, the most well-known and easily accessible section. Take a scenic drive from Beijing to Badaling, where you can hike along the wall, visit the museum, and enjoy breathtaking views. Consider taking the cable car or the toboggan ride for a unique experience.
Day 6:
- Beijing Departure: Check out from your hotel and, depending on your departure time, spend the morning exploring Beijing further. Visit the iconic Temple of Heaven or explore the bustling markets for some souvenir shopping. Then, transfer to Beijing Capital International Airport for your onward journey.
Please note that this is a sample itinerary, and you can customize it based on your preferences, available time, and specific sites you'd like to include. Also, be sure to check the opening hours and accessibility of certain sections of the Great Wall during your visit.#thegreatwall #Beijing #China #travel
THE GREAT WALL of 🇨🇳
Can you truly say you’ve been to China if you have not been to The Great Wall?
You: “I just came back from China”
Friend or Stranger: “Oh yeah, how was it? Did you see The Great Wall?”
You: “Oh, no but there is more to China than The Great Wall you know?”
Friend or Stranger: “Ah, so you didn’t go then. I see”
Don’t be that person folks‼️(By the way, the above ⬆️ scenario is all in good fun) I know my friends would ask if I crossed The Great Wall of China off the bucket list if I had it on the list in the first place.
Anyway, if being on your bucket list isn’t enough reason for you to see this world-renowned landmark, go for the journey via cable cars so you can see surrounding forest. Add to the fact that you’re literally standing on a prolific work of art that stretches on for miles and miles. I went to the Badaling section which I was told is a popular section of the wall. July was when I went and luckily it was raining on the way but it cleared up enough for us to patrol the steps up and down. When you go, just be sure to stop and take it all in, really be in the moment. For if you go and all you did was take a couple pictures, it won’t be worth it. It should be one of your most memorable experiences. ☺️ Follow on IG for more pics @Crimson21_ (Don’t forget that underscore)

Where the Wall meets the sea.
Travelling from Dandong we got the train directly to Shanhaiguan. To then get to the Wall is a short taxi down to the Water. We arrived just before sunset so was able to get some really nice pictures and plus in was empty with no people there! There was pretty much no food options we we traveled here, probably due to it being winter and late in the evening. The cost was around 50CNY but is definitely worth seeing. Then it is only 2.5hrs train to Beijing. The beach there is also beautiful and bet would be very nice in the summer. It was around -10 when we traveled here so lots of layers needed.#2023travelwish #thegreatwall

The Great Wall of China 🏯🇨🇳
When we speak about The Great Wall of China. We don't only speak about stones and history. This place served as a vital military strategic point from ancient times. This is not just an ordinary place, this is officially one of the seven wonders of the world. What I can say about this place when others already said it? Stunning, breathtaking views from every angle where you can enjoy spectacular nature.
This place gives that amazing real ancient culture vibe and when you walk here you have a feeling that you are an important part of ancient Chinese history. I visited a section called Mutianyu Great Wall which is one of the most famous sections for tourists to visit. What is interesting facts about this place is that woods cover over 96% percent of the total scenic area.
To come to this Mutianyu section, the best way is a car and it will take you an hour and a half from the city center. To experience this place in the right way, I recommend that you should stay the whole day, ideally to get there in the early hours of the morning so that you have more time for enjoying, hiking and sightseeing.
To get up on the wall, you can use two ways, stairs that are the hard way or gondolas that are chilly because you can enjoy the most beautiful landscape. Also, when you need to climb down you can use the stairs again or you can go with slides down which is more fun. Sightings and hiking are the main activities, taking photos and checking out many watchtowers on the road.
Even if you are solo travel you don't need to worry, you can meet likable people there and hear some cool stories. When you come to Beijing, you can't miss this legendary place, and when you visited you will have the desire to come back again. 👀🏃✌️

Visit the quiet part of The Great Wall
The Great Wall of China is a must-see attraction while in Beijing.
It is a historical place that makes you feel the power and the history the place has.
I visited The Yellow Flower Fortress part of The Great Wall that is located near a lake and a water dumb. The Yellow Flower Fortress is a more quiet and isolated part of The Great Wall with not many tourists. In fact, we were the only ones there at all.
Over there you can have a spectacular view of mountains and lakes surrounding this part of The Great Wall. It is quite an experience to be the only one there because The Great Wall is a very famous tourist attraction and is always crowded with people.
In Chinese The Yellow Flower fortress part of The Great Wall is called Huanghuacheng and in English it is often called The Water Great Wall.
The downside is that it isn’t easy to get here, you’ll need a car 🚗 , a taxi 🚕 or hire a private driver for the day. But this is the reason it’s so peaceful here and you can really enjoy your visit to The Great Wall of China and take in the greatness of this place.
Plan your trip to The Yellow Flower fortress part of The Great Wall and enjoy 😊

Honoring the brave souls of Great Wall
As my taxi is approaching Badaling, I could feel the brave spirits behind those walls. My tears started to fall as I was seeing the curvy Mountains of the walls.
As I arrived from the bus stop, i queued for 1 hour to take free bus to the ticket site. I suggest you could directly walk on foot to the ticket booth to purchase either cable car or through WeChat.
I also suggest not to take a cable car because you will line up and wait for almost 2 hours just to get there especially on peak season.
But if you decide to go up on foot, Better use hiking shoes or non slippery apparels because it's steep and tiring to go up. Going down don't take the cable car for you to enjoy the beauty of the area.
There are also new walk way beside the original wall going down it is safer but not too exciting though.
At 5pm i went down to the souvenir and food shops and bought few items like key chains, medallion with my name on it. Have tried the ice cream on stick with its great wall design. I also enjoyed varieties of Chinese food just right down the bus stop of 877 to Deshengmen last bus stop.
The Visit was magnificent and for me it's the best trip ever. 😍#thegreatwall

Stunning Great Wall
The scenery is stunning and the Great Wall is a must visit when you go to Beijing, China. While in China, I and my family visited it several times at several points. Absolutely amazing!

I came to China in 2016. We were in Beijing for a few weeks and during those weeks we went to a lot of beautiful places including #thegreatwall. It was a lot of work ( and walking) but the scenery was worth it.
