Trip Moments Recommendations
Macau · Portuguese Tart vs Egg Waffle.
Macau Delicacies Part Three
Especially recommending the flaky caramel tart that's even tastier than Andrew's
1️⃣ Andrew's Portuguese Tart
Visited purely for its fame
Slightly sweet, a bit greasy😌
After eating, you'll see the bag is all greasy😫
Feels no different from KFC's tart
💰MOP11 each
🏠Andrew's Bakery (Taipa Old Town)
📍Address: No. 9, Rua do Cunha, Taipa Old Town, Block E, Pak Hung Building
2️⃣ BAMU Flaky Caramel Tart
After lunch, was attracted by the buttery scent of the flaky pastry while passing by💖
The whole store specializes in flaky pastry products
The pastry is crisp and not greasy
The custard filling is lighter than the Portuguese style, not so sweet
Jon's family🧑🧑🧒🧒 unanimously thinks it's tastier than Andrew's😋
💰MOP12 each
🏠BAMU BAKERY HOUSE (Sai Van)
📍25 Rua dos Mercadores, Sai Van
3️⃣ Portuguese Tart Flavored Egg Waffle
Zexian Ji Egg Waffle comes highly recommended by friends
Happened to be at the food street of the hotel we stayed at
Went to buy some after dinner, luckily didn't have to wait too long
The egg waffles are made to order
The shell is thin and crispy
There's a variety of fillings to choose from
Worth a try
💰MOP41 per base

Sooper Yoo
Totally missed this one out 😂 We were there before indoor playhouse required vaccine pass (VP) for kids under 12.
Having a 10,000 square foot space, Sooper Yoo offers a place to explore, climb, learn and play. There are different areas and sections, the first 2 are my kids’ favourite
1. Scramble Course is a 2-3 level maze with slides, climbers and obstacles along the way
2. Yoozoo Racer is an interactive game where kids run alongside animated animals to test their running speed on track
3. Sooper Slap is a game to test their agility and reaction
4. VR cave is pretty common now, virtual world with games, kids basically just smacking the wall to hit the target
There are other like Formula Yoo Sooper Loop (race remote control cars by riding the bike, for kids 130cm and above), Sooper Kix (a VR version of soccer game) and Digi Decks (table games on digital).

Well, it’s clean and new and fancy but it’s a been there done that thing for us. I highly doubt it’s for age 4 to 17. More likely suitable for age 4 to 8.
Although we prefer outdoor activities, I understand there are parents who feel more comfortable and safer being indoors, especially when the adults taking kids to play are grandparents or helpers.

The Big 8 Dino-Revelation !
It is definitely the most happening exhibition in town! Not only among the parents (I don’t know why but most kids seems to have certain level of fascination with dinosaurs) and of course the dinosaur fans.
Hong Kong Science Museum is currently showcasing 8 of the most iconic species, including T-Rex 暴龍, Triceratops 三角龍, Spinosaurus 棘龍, Allosaurus 異特龍, Hesperosaurus西龍, Diplodocus 梁龍, Hatzegopteryx 翼龍 and baby sauropod 蜥腳類恐龍. Hence, calling the exhibition, the Big 8. I am surprised and impressed by the amount of original fossil materials and reconstruction of the skeletons dinosaurs. It’s really informative and in a way, quite interactive to attract children’s attention.
Exhibition period from 8 July to 16 November 2022
Location: 2/f exhibition hall of science museum
Opening hours: 10am to 7pm (weekend and oh to 9pm)
Admission to the exhibition is free but visitors have to make reservations up to seven days in advance through the online booking system.

Located at Fanling near the famous country walk, Lau Shui Heung, Four Seasons is sure to be one of the popular place families choosing to bring their kids and fur baby to experience glamping or if you have the equipments, camping.

If you’re first timer or with young kids, renting the mongolian tents with aircon definitely make everything easier. Most of the camping stuff could be loan at the campsite, there’s even external chargers for rental. Campsite could purchase ingredients for barbecue on behalf if you’ve ordered or choose such option at booking.
Its considered summer now that the weather has been so warm, we reserved the inflatable pool for kids and adults to have a water gun fight in it. I guess the pool part could only happen during summer.

😮💨: The grass were soaked with heavy shower the morning we arrived, and it became all muddy. The 2 days we were there, kids couldn’t run freely because of that.
👍: The campsite’s toilet/ shower is probably the cleanest I’ve even been. Kudos for that! Convenient shop with food and drinks, tent is tidy and playground is clean.

Peppa Pig’s Happy Day Interactive Play
If you have kids around you, you would’ve heard of Peppa Pig. It’s widespread among parents and children. It’s episodes of story of Peppa, who lives on a hill with Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and little brother George. Although it’s a very famous cartoon, my kids knew them, we watched a couple of episodes but I decided to stop for a couple of reason. Honestly, I didn’t think kids should watch too much of Peppa Pig or Cocomelon 🫣
Anyway, there’s a Peppa Pig event at Kowloon Bay, it’s called the Happy Day Interactive Play! You must’ve seen blogger/ influencer posting about it. So, here’s the thing, I don’t just sweeten the package; readers know I give honest opinion. And this event, is definitely no go for kids 6 and above.
There are different sections; vr interactive running, matching game on screen, slide with a sleight, vr jump into puddles and farm activities, train tracks, trampolines and more. BUT they are designed for toddlers, meaning kids age 1.5 to 5.
So, if you’re a Peppa Pig fans, or you have kids 1.5 to 5, your kids might enjoyed this event a lot more than my kids 🫣
Event date: 2022/06/25 – 2022/09/12
Different sessions from 10:30-19:00
Address: FT life tower, Kowloon Bay

Po Kwu Wan 曝罟灣 Adventure
It’s a hidden bay of Sai Kung, next to Sheung Yiu Trail and close to high island reservoir. It’s special with its half moon shape concrete embankment.
Starting point located in Sai Kung Country Park, follow the signs to Pak Tam Chung Nature Trail(北潭涌自然教育徑)/ Sheung Yiu Family Walk (上窯家樂徑), passing a beautiful lake-like creeks heading to Sheung Yiu Folk Museum and the swamp with mangroves.
First stop would be Hei Tsz Wan (起子灣)pier. From there, we spontaneously took an adventure trip, coasteering to the direction of Po Kwu Wan. It’s actually pretty straightforward, just walk along the coastline.
We started early on Sunday morning, bump into a handful of people at Po Kwu Wan and few groups at Yuen Ng Fan view point, only a couple of fishermen while coasteering and non when hiking out to Man Yee Road.
Distance: approx 6km
Difficulty: Easy Intermediate
Duration: approx 3.5 hours
How to get there:
- Take bus 94 heading to Wong Shek Pier from Sai Kung; Get off at Sheung Yiu Bus Stop
- If you’re driving and want to be as close to the starting point as possible, go early and you may find a spot at Sai Kung Country Park Visitor Centre
- Or you could park at the metres car parks along Tai Mong Zai Road and hop on to taxi or bus 94

Yim Tin Tsai 鹽田梓
It’s a small offshore island under Sai Kung District. The only salt pans in Hong Kong, and an island filled with swampy mangroves and Hakka cultural. Former villagers returned to the island to preserves their traditional way of life and way of making salt.
We took a trip to Yim Tin Tsai before the “5th wave”. It’s a 15 minutes boat ride from Sai Kung Pier to Yim Tin Tsai.
Arriving at 9:30 in the morning, we have plenty of time to explore the island. Hence, decided to take a hike around the island, passing St Joseph Cathedral where the museum dedicated to Hakka life is right next to it, heading uphill to the Twin Pavilion, downhill to a T junction, we stop by Jade-Girdle Bridge that’ connects Yim Tin Tsai island to The Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course before returning to the junction and heading back to the pier.
Our tickets includes the entrance to cultural museum and salt pans. It’s easy to understand, my k2 boy and p1 girl definitely learn something out of it, and got to see the tools used in old days for real.
We traveled with 好姐 at the pier, her booth is close to the restaurant. Charging $70 per adult, $50 for kids age 4-12 and senior age 65 above. There are restaurant and public toilets at the pier.
For those who’s interested to visit the Salt & Light Preservation Centre (鹽光保育中心), take note that they closed on Monday.

Brick Hill
When kids have too much screen time (few hours of zoom classes), sports centres & indoors activities closed, and there’s no playground for them to waste some energy… they became emotionally unstable, unable to focus and basically showing impact on their mental health and overall well-being.
Please, I’m not interested in adding on screen time, so don’t recommend the online exercise or switch’s just dance/ sport related game.
I still prefer outdoor activities with kids. We normally do it early to avoid the crowd. Trust me, 80-90% of the people prefer sleep in and starting their day after brunch. Hence, when we took a hike to Brick Hill, it’s pretty much just us and a handful of other hikers.
Speaking of Brick Hill or better known as Nam Long Shan is a hill near Wong Chuk Hang, overlooking Ocean Park, deep water bay and sham wan.

Luk Keng to Kuk Po
Found another family friendly hiking trail ! It’s a round trip, easy route with tasty snacks and food in between.
It’s Sunday, to avoid crowd, we arrived at 9.30am, parked our car at Fanling then hail a taxi to Luk Keng. The hiking trail is pretty straight forward. Got off at Luk Keng’s BB happy store, walk along Bride’s Pool Road, then take the left road towards Fat Kee Store. The starling inlet/ mangrove swamps are on your left at all time while walking on Tiu-Tang-Long Path. Half way through, there are stairs headed towards the other side of the mountain, once over you’ll reach Fung Hang in no time.
There’s a public toilet at the entrance of the village next to a cafe. The stalls along Fung Hang Pier selling local made snacks such as 茶粿 (cha gwo) which is stuffed tea cake made with sticky rice flour, 砵仔糕 (put chai go) which is red bean pudding, pumpkin cake etc. Do give it a try ! I regretted not buying more as we have lunch plans at Kuk Po.
Let’s talk about this restaurant at Kuk Po. It operates on weekends only. Booking and pre-order are highly recommended. It’s Hakka cuisine. We ordered
❤️墨魚片 Squids
豉油王吊筒 Cuttlefish in soy sauce
走地雞 Steam Chicken
❤️豬肉砵 Pork Belly Pot
❤️客家醋鴨 Roast Duck in Hakka Style
❤️黑腳𩶘 Blackhead Seabrem
芥蘭 Kai Lan Veg
揚州炒飯 Fried Rice

❤️肉絲炒麵 Fried Noodles with shredded pork
After lunch, just take the same route back to where it begins.

Dinosaur Park
That’s what my kids have been calling Ping Shek Playground (坪石遊樂場) . Located on a top of a hill in Choi Hung, this dinosaur theme playground seems to excite kids, taking them into a world of imagination and adventurous (well, at least that’s how my kids played) .
The playground is filled with caves showing archaic wall paintings, dinosaurs bones and fossils, and a castle play. There are swings at the back, slides, bars for climbing and the special one is a holding drops (I’m not sure what is that called officially, it’s like a fireman pole but all you have to do is hold the handle and step on the plate, then let your body weight take you down) .
My kids met some other kids, and they began playing catch, then move on to role playing pirates going on adventure, climbing up and down, using the castle as their base, the cave as dungeon to keep prisoners, and sometimes with serious discussion into where to run and hide.

Tsz Wan Shan Playground 慈雲山中心歷奇遊樂場
While everyone is talking about the NEW and quite happening shopping mall playground at MOKO, I took kids to one at Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre.
It’s another free playground at the shopping mall but this one with quite a big area of water splashing equipments, huge climbing nets and rope climber. There’s a 2-storey slide for user age 7 or 120cm and above. K is at the borderline and was thinking to give it a go, but then she walk away after hearing the other big kid saying it’s steep and too fast 😂
Kids spent most of the time under the shower, jumping in the puddles, then running around with other kids playing catch. We were there for a session, they had fun, but I don’t think it’s worth a second visit.
Tips:
✅ bring extra clothes because kids will definitely get wet
✅ wear socks in case you need a grip
✅ shoes off at all area with rubber flooring
✅ there’s locker if you need to store personal items
✅ get tickets to entry at the podium next to escalator opposite of the jewellery shop
Shade: We went for the 2.30pm session on a sunny day, but shaded by the building nearby.
Enclosed: Yes
Toilet: Shopping mall
Refreshment: bubble tea shop and cafe de coral just next to the playground

Tsuen Wan Riveria Park Playground
If you happened to pass by Tsuen Wan, and got tired of the playground at Tsuen Wan Plaza or Tsuen Wan Park.. perhaps consider taking a short walk from Tsuen Wan Park towards the direction of Tsing Yi Bridge along the promenade.
There’s another playground right next to the school. Quite a classic playground with slides, climbing bars, fireman’s pole, twirling slides. But there are 2 old school’s metal slides in front of the playground, there are stairs at both sides and it’s in between 2 playground (lower one for toddlers and upper one for kids age 5 and above).

Coombe Road’s Children Playground
Cont’d.
After spending some time at Wan Chai Gap Park’s playground, we walked across to another playground, sitting right next to the metered parking lots, closer to the Police Museum.
Another classic playground with swings at the back, climbing nets and bars, fireman’s pole, twirling slide and a rather steep slide. However, this playground offer something my kids love it so much they spent almost an hour on it - a spinning top with climbing nets! It’s in a shape where the spinning is based on the gyroscopic effect when kids climbing the nets.

Wan Chai Gap Park
This is quite a hidden park in between Coombe Road and Mount Cameron Road. It’s so quiet and we have the playground to ourselves most of the time. I was quite surprised to see a food stall selling snacks, hot food and cold beverage. Apparently this park is a refreshment stop for hikers taking the “Wan Chai Gap Road to Aberdeen Country Park” trail.
The park is remote and quite on weekday, too quiet that we met a mommy wild boar and her piglets searching for food from the trash cans. Kids were so excited to see the adorable piglets but I have to warn them about getting too close to the wild animals. It’s a proper park, with tables, chairs and benches, the garden is being taken care of and it’s rather clean and peaceful environment.
The playground is right next to food stall, with benches around it. A classic playground with swings, tunnels, slides, simple climbing bars and the fireman’s pole. The only special is a short zipline. It’s far too simple, perhaps great fun for kids age 1-5. Definitely not worth it if you have to travel far for it.
Shade: No
Enclosed: Not exactly but there’s only 2 entrance in and out of the playground area
Toilet: Public toilet behind the food stall

Ryze at Kodak House
Last month was Karena’s birthday month and she’s invited friends from her kindergarten to celebrate with her. To accommodate 9 kids in total, I’ve choose to held a small party Ryze.
Ryze Hong Kong is the largest trampoline park in town. It has over 40 trampolines interconnecting from wall to wall, and there are foam pits and rope swings to work on like ninja trainings... Kids love this place ! We parents do think it is “taking bouncy castles at parties” to a whole new level.
Note:
1. Liability waiver to be signed before you go to enhance the check in process. We signed online, and it will stay on file for a year (you don’t have to sign again when you visit during the period)

UREC’s exhibition
Came across the Urban Renewal Exploration Centre(UREC 市區更新探知館) website and found out their exhibitions on dilapidated housing alongside the walls full of information about the urban renewal in Hong Kong including problems of urban decay and work of URA in reserve, redevelopment, rehabilitation and revitalisation.
The exhibit caught my attention with the presentation of real life experience of dilapidated housing with small cubicles home, the famous caged homes, the less humane cockloft, the toilet and kitchen areas to be shared; giving us a better understanding of the poor living conditions in older districts. I learnt that some exhibits are collected from the authentic premises in the old districts. Everything is surreal. After visiting, I do think it provide some insight and allow visitors to understand urban renewal issues from different perspectives.
Most of the children these days are blessed. They’ve never see a lot of things, not even the housing or livings of the poor or less fortunate. Exhibitions like this not only giving them ideas, providing them the opportunity to look closer and imagine the lifestyle; it allows them to understand the importance of reserves, redevelopment, rehabilitation and revitalisation of the urban.
It’s free of charge and all tours are by appointment only.
Age : Primary and above.

Mon – Fri (except public holidays) 10:00 am to 12:00 pm & 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm

貝澳 Pui O Beach
Pui O Beach
Recently heard people describing Pui O beach as “beautiful beach with long stretch of soft golden sands”… well, don’t know from where you got that, but here’s the thing, I’ve been to Pui O prior kids, that’s 6-7 years ago, and there ain’t golden sands; then, I went again late June.. golden sands still nowhere to be seen 🤪
Anyway, the slightly dark sands are soft, and it’s considered smoother than most of the beaches in HK. The waves were pretty strong, we saw people surfing and kitesurfing. But Pui O beach is actually popular for the clam digging activities. You would see adults standing in the water twisting (foot digging clam) or kids digging by the beach while building sand castles. It’s low tide when we visit, so adults and kids got to go a little further.
We had fun picking shells, digging clam, tried jumping over each waves coming to us, buying snacks and drinks from the kiosk. Then, when we are done, kids farewell to the clams before returning them to the ocean.
Restaurant, bar and kiosk right at the beachfronts; local shops selling refreshments and beach equipments along the path from bus stops to beach.
Facilities: Toilets and showers available. Lifeguard stands.
How to get there:
- Blue taxi approx $100-120
- MTR Tung Chung Station Exit B and hop on to bus 3M at the bus terminus, get off at Lo Uk Tsuen or asked about Pui O beach
- 30 mins Ferry from Central Pier 6 to Mui Wo, bus 1, 2, 3M or 4 and get off at Lo Uk Tsuen

Kadoorie Farm
Finally visit this 150-hectare nature reserve and animal rescue farm located at Lam Kam Road, Taipo. It’s actually sprawled over foothills of Tai Mo Shan. So if you’re coming from Tsuen Wan, be sure you take the Tai Mo Shan hill road.
Kadoorie Farm started as a project to help the villagers nearby on how to farm and raise livestock. Currently, it put its focus on promoting and educating the public on sustainable living (farming) and rehabilitating rescued animals.
It is split into upper and lower nature reserve areas with the animals located in the latter. There are so many attractions abs we simply don’t have enough time (we went after school). At the lower nature reserves, we saw reptiles, birds and animals such as leopard cats and pigs. There are many plants, frogs, bugs and worms around too.
Kids had so much fun roaming around, finding everything interesting. We were surprised by a giant caterpillar whom look like a twig. We love this farm and plan to visit again when the weather isn’t too hot. With so much to offer, it definitely takes more than a day or two to fully explore it.
How to get there:
- Take 64K bus from Tai Po Market and get off at the Kadoorie Farm bus stop
Admission Ticket: $30 adults and $15 for age 5 to 11
Opening hours: 9.30am to 5pm

Ting Kau Beach
Ting Kau Beach
Many have heard or been to Lido Beach in Tsuen Wan, but very few mentioned a small gazetted beach managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department right next to it, called the Ting Kau Beach.
It sits under Ting Kau Bridge and looks out to Tsing Yi. There are metered carpark along the road, or you could take bus route 234b that stops at Ting Kau Village. On far left (facing the sea) of the beach sits the changing/ showering/ toilets facilities and the children playground is to the right.
It’s a quite beach, we went on a Friday evening, good for just chilling and kids on sand-related activities.
Water quality: Poor. Despite checking the EPD stated good… there are rubbish in the ocean. It’s so bad that we decided not getting in the water.
Lifeguard: On duty
Facilities: Showers, changing room, toilets are reasonably clean. Bring your own food and drinks, I don’t remember seeing vending machines.

Tsing Yi Park
This park has many recreational facilities, such as soccer courts, basketball courts and our favourite, children playground. Aside from that, it’s a beautiful park with lakes, man made waterfalls, picnic areas, walking trails and not forgetting the path with cherry trees and maple trees making spring and autumn famous for photography.
There are 2 areas of the children playgrounds. One with the classics play equipments such as slides, bridge, bouncy horses, swings. Then right across it, are different equipments laying in different sections while climbing up the stairs. Some are for young children, some are more complicated for advance users.
Surprisingly, we find this children’s playground boring. It’s a beautiful park, and there are varieties of playground equipments, but it doesn’t attract my kids to play any longer than 20 mins. I guess it’ll be interesting for young kids age 1-4yo.
Shaded: Yes, by tall trees and a pavilion next to the playground with benches
Enclosed: No. And Tsing Yi Park is quite a big park, so make sure you look after your kids
Stroller: Friendly
Toilet: Public toilet near the entrance/ tennis courts, 5 mins from playground
Coffees: Grab one from maritime mall before you head to the park. Or just get the bottles one from vending machines.
Mommy think: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Kids think: ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Location: Tsing Luk Street, Tsing Yi
How to get there:
- MTR to Tsing Yi Station and leave from exit B, walk through the maritime mall
- Or take mini bus that gets off at Tsing Yi Estates

Airport Theme Playgr
If you live in Hong Kong long enough, you should know that Hong Kong was once famous of its airport at Kai Tak. The one right next to residential areas, where plane literally just fly right above buildings. After it moved to Lantau Island, Kai Tak became just another residential area.
Anyway, few weeks ago, I took kids to this playground, it’s in between housings, on a huge platform, pretty sure it’s public area as there isn’t any sign saying other wise. As I expected, K and D love it ! There are 2 section, I call one the airport and another one the airplane.
At airport, you see settings for check in counters, departure gate, duty free shop, coffee shop etc, and a simple playground equipment with slide. The airplane area is a big playground equipment with slides, climbing bars, tunnels, stools etc.
Toilet: Estates’ mall toilet just 5 mins walk away
Coffee/ Refreshments: 7-11 and local cafes at the mall
Enclosed: No
Shaded: Yes
How to get there:
- All busses to Kai Tak (Kai Ching Estate)
- Kai Tak MTR station, 8 mins walk to Kai Ching Estate

Whale Garden
Passed by DPark the other day and kids wanted to go to the Whale Garden. We used to go on a weekly basis, prior covid; it is an outdoor playground but fully shaded by the mall. It’s considered “theme park” of a shopping mall, hence there’s opening hours.
Kids and myself love this playground because it provides a variety of facilities that train kids muscles and coordinations. They have 2 sections, one for young child of 2-5yo with simple equipments like the bouncy crab, drum circle, sea saw and the giraffe theme slides and climbers; and another section at the sperm whale theme playground with lots of climbing, steep slides, clown fish climbing bars and the whirls. For parents and guardians? It’s fully covered, no sun and no rain, enclosed with only 1 entrance to the shopping mall guarded by a staff.
However, due to covid, you can’t walk in like we used to. The garden opens daily from 12noon to 5.30pm BUT you can only register in person. And there’s time limits for each sessions.
✅For 12noon to 2.30pm sessions, you may register at 11.30am
✅For 3pm to 5.30pm sessions, you may register at 2.30pm
Each with 30 mins play time, and limit to 1 adult and 1 kid per register.
We were there at 3.30pm on a weekday and was told all sessions are full. The staff mentioned it’s always full immediately on a daily basis. I guess you just have to come early for registration.
Guess I’ll just share pictures I had in my archives for reference. Photos taken in Oct 2019
Toilet: Shopping mall toilet
Coffee/ Refreshments: Delifrance and other cafe in the mall on the same floor
How to get there:
- Tsuen Wan MTR station exit A3 to D Park
- Buses passing by D Park
- Park your car at D Park shopping mall

KidzTech at Whampoa
🌈
I’ve heard good things about Kidztech for a while. Finally understand why friends have been recommending; it’s spacious, clean and tidy, spectacular view, varieties in type of play equipment for young children. Personally love the crowd control. I book the first session on Sunday, which is 9-11am via their booking system and I do think it’s not crowded like many other indoor playground.
We arrived 5 mins before our session, filled in the covid forms, make payments for entrance fees, and sanitised before kids running straight to the play area.
There’s climbing nets, kids gym equipments, sand pits, slides, animals and vehicles figure setting, costumes etc. K and D spent most of their time at the climbing net and sand pits.

Micropark Yi Pei Sq
Microparks : Yi Pei Square Playground
Design Trust Studio initiates the idea of Play is for People, rethink and design public space into micro-parks. One of them, located in Tsuen Wan’s Yi Pei Square opened on 15th April ! It took 3 years to complete.
To be honest I am really surprised they’d chosen the location, Yi Pei Square. If you’re familiar with Tsuen Wan, it’s located right behind the Yeung Uk Road Market, surrounded by chinese mansion/ low rise apartments where the ground floor are commercial shops.
There are some specials which my kids love, the merry go round with climbing nets, the box and ball climber slides, the tunnels with rubber slopes where kids could just walk up and slide down etc. As much as I like the idea of rebuilding a local community, redesign public space for kids and elderly, this location is just not my ideal hang out space.
Shades: the buildings pretty much provide a shade from sunlight but definitely not for rain
Toilet: nowhere to be seen
Enclosed: no.
Nearest coffee/food: local cafe/ restaurant right next to you, or walk to the next street for 7-11
Mommy rating: ⭐️ (ask any Tsuen Wan residents, you’ll understand why this is not a good location for playground)
Kids rating : ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
How to get there:
- 15 mins walk from Tsuen wan west station
- Buses stops at Yeung Uk Road Market

HappyFarm x Citywalk
If you happened to be in Tsuen Wan, with children. Do take time to visit the Happy Farm brought to you by BusymamaBenny 余以辰 at Citywalk.
The handicrafts are incredible. It’s all made by recycled materials/ household refuse; perhaps giving you ideas on crafts you could do at home with all you have. My kids took some time to appreciate the artworks, having all sorts of ideas, thinking to create their own farm once we’ve collected enough materials. So, I guess it’s great for inspiration on some diy.
If you’re member of the shopping mall, in this case S + Rewards for Citywalk, do use the points you’ve been accumulated for games and workshops.

Children Playground
I have been seeing pictures of a sea of peoples at playgrounds, beaches, theme parks and even hiking trails. So... my advice for anyone hoping to AVOID huge crowd (except theme parks), go early !
Everyone heard of Lai Chi Kok Park. It’s big, and there are a couple of playgrounds or picnic spots in it. But this time, we are not going to playground in the park, instead, we went to the playground on top of Meifoo Mtr Station at the Podium. We arrived the park at 10 in the morning (Saturday), the playground is quite, just a handful of people.
It’s a simple but spacious playground, so kids happily running around, playing catch with other children; and hop on to swings, run down the slides, climb the monkey bars, and simply running around the play equipments that are attached together. There’s a fitness area next to the swing. Whole area of the playground is carpeted with rubbers.
Toilet: Public toilet next to the podium
Shades: Not at the play area but there’s roofs at sides with benches
Enclosed: No

How to get there:

Auberge DB staycation
This could be our favourite family friendly hotel. Satisfying my kids needs, including bathtubs, Disney Junior on tv, beach or playground at a reasonably good price. Before the playground reopens, I book the staycation packages that includes an afternoon set and buffet breakfast for 2 at $1100 per room, and upgraded to ocean front view for just $300 extras.
Room is spacious, bed and amenities are acceptable, view is always spectacular when the sea is included; the fun clubs or I call it the game room for adults and kids are opened which is cool because we had a little bit of fun time with the table tennis, basketball machine and arcade. Afternoon tea set is alright and buffet breakfast with enough food choices. Do remember to book your time slot for buffet breakfast though.
The next morning, we had breakfast at 8, done by 9 and head right to the beach nearby. Where we found this beach playground set up by the locals, and a pond next to it. K and D absolutely love this place! The swing, the zipline, the mini- tree house and their favourite spot is the pond where they found shrimp, crabs and fishes! They met other kids and started to play for hours. I love how kids are enjoying and being natural, at nature.
I took kids back to the beach and playground a week later. They spent 3 hours at the pond and beach, playing with Italian and Aussie kids. We managed to catch a fish and crab for close observation before freeing them to the pond. I later learnt that this amazing playground we are enjoying are works of these kids hero dads, wanting their kids to be able to have fun outside, especially during the pandemic where the playgrounds are closed.

NewTownPlaza‘s Sportzone and Workshop
Few weeks ago, I took kids to New Town Plaza, knowing that there’s this rooftop sports park. From the brochure, we are expecting a 5metre sleigh ride on artificial grass; 17 metres balancing path; a rather simple rock climbing; gym area without equipments; a colourful basketball court and rest area.
We went after school, arriving just past lunch hour. I didn’t expect such a sunny weather given the past few days were cloudy and gloomy. So, of course, the boulders on wall were too hot to climb on. Kids move on, ran straight to the balancing swings, then noticed the sleigh ride.
We went straight to the sleigh ride while I got my SHKP mall app ready (if you’re a member, you could use 50 points in exchange for a 2-3 mins ride). This is when we were told that the ride is only for 120cm and above ! Both my kids are below that requirement, and they were looking forward.. that’s pretty disappointed to be honest.
There ain’t no fun and it’s a boring park if you can’t go on the sleigh. So we left for Snoopy World’s playground.
Note: sleigh ride requirement as below -
✅120 cm and above (this is not mentioned in brochure nor promoting posts by others)
✅SHKP points x 50pts or
✅ receipts of spending at the mall (split the bills, be it 2-3 bottles of water)
The Sportszone ends on 26 / Nov / 2021
