Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival Launches Martial Arts Drama Costume and Prop Exhibition
Organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), the second Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival (Cultural Festival) adopts the theme 'Both Literary and Martial Arts', featuring a variety of exciting events. Among them, the 'Both Literary and Martial Arts' series includes the 'Classic Martial Arts Drama Costume and Prop Exhibition', which starts on April 17th at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre lobby. The exhibition showcases around thirty pieces of headwear, costumes, and props from television martial arts dramas spanning from the 1970s to the millennium, allowing the audience to relive the classics and experience the martial arts sentiment.
Many well-known martial arts drama series have been adapted from the works of local famous martial arts novelists, including Jin Yong's 'The Return of the Condor Heroes', 'Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils', 'The Legend of the Condor Heroes', 'The Smiling, Proud Wanderer', Huang Yi's 'A Step into the Past', and Liang Yusheng's 'The White-Haired Witch'. Martial arts TV dramas and their related theme songs and soundtracks bring the literary and martial arts scenes from the novels to life. These classic moments have always been an important element of Hong Kong's pop culture, accompanying many viewers as they grew up.
Selected exhibits for this exhibition include: the hero costume worn by Yang Guo in 'The Return of the Condor Heroes'; the elegant and ethereal white dress worn by Little Dragon Girl; the pink outfit worn by Zhou Zhiruo in 'The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber'; and the costume of Princess Changping (Ah Jiu) in 'Sword Stained with Royal Blood'. Prop exhibits include the Dragon Saber from 'The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber', which caused a bloodbath; the Dog Beating Staff, the symbol of the Beggar's Sect leader in 'The Legend of the Condor Heroes'; the flute of 'Eastern Heretic' Huang Yaoshi; the sword of Lian Ni Chang, the protagonist of 'The White-Haired Witch'; the fan of the male protagonist in 'Chu Liuxiang'; and the knife of Li Xunhuan in 'Sentimental Swordsman, Ruthless Sword'. The exhibition runs until May 5th and will move to the Hong Kong Heritage Museum on May 8th to continue until October 7th.
To enrich the audience's experience, the 'Both Literary and Martial Arts' series also includes the 'Literary Songs and Martial Music Concert'. Veteran musician Au Sui Keung will perform many popular martial arts drama theme songs and his classic hits live. Each concert will also feature performances by young singer Au Hing Chun and a special guest. Additionally, there will be a song request segment, allowing the audience to revisit their favorite tunes.
Edible Flowers and Herbs Exhibition at Hong Kong Park
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold an Edible Flowers and Herbs Exhibition at the Forsgate Conservatory in Hong Kong Park from April 22 (Monday), allowing citizens to closely appreciate the beauty of various edible flowers and herbs of the spring season.
Hong Kong's spring climate is mild with gradually lengthening daylight hours, which is suitable for the growth of different types of edible flowers and herbs. This themed exhibition displays more than 500 plants of different forms of spring edible flowers and herbs, including fragrant marigolds, dwarf hibiscus, dryland lotus, borage, calendula, and a variety of herbs, etc.
The flowers and leaves of fragrant marigolds have a rich aroma and are all edible. The tender leaves can be used for tea brewing and cooking, and planting them in a herb garden is most appropriate.
The light pink flowers of the dwarf hibiscus are small and exquisite, and although they only last for a short day, they bloom continuously.
The flowers, leaves, and rhizomes of the dryland lotus (also known as golden lotus) are all edible, with a taste as sweet and slightly spicy as mustard, and a crisp and juicy texture, also with a unique scent.
As for herbs, the humid spring is particularly suitable for the growth of mint family plants. Common types include green mint (also known as spearmint), peppermint, grapefruit mint, etc.
In addition to displaying more than 30 types of spring edible flowers and herbs, the exhibition also sets up panels to introduce their characteristics, planting tips, and propagation methods. The exhibition will be held from April 22 to June 10, open daily from 9 am to 5 pm at the Forsgate Conservatory, 19 Cotton Tree Drive, Central, Hong Kong Park. Admission is free, and the public is welcome to visit.
Hong Kong Space Museum presents the new 3D dome film 'Polar Extremes 3D'.
Starting from April 1st (Monday), the Hong Kong Space Museum's Stanley Ho Space Theatre will be screening the new 3D dome film 'Polar Extremes 3D', taking audiences on an exploration of Antarctica.
Antarctica is the coldest, driest, and windiest place on Earth. 'Polar Extremes 3D' will lead audiences deep into the Antarctic animal world, starting with a dive beneath the ice into a vibrant underwater world, then returning to the surface to join a large penguin colony, and finally enjoying what may be the most whales ever seen on screen. Whales play a key role in mitigating climate change, and the film not only provides a visual spectacle for viewers but also helps them understand the impact of human overhunting of whales on climate change. With global temperatures rising, the film prompts humans to reflect and take action to protect the Antarctic ecosystem, to prevent climate change from disrupting its balance and further affecting the whole world.
The program is 24 minutes long and will be shown until January 13, 2025. Screening times are 2:00 PM and 6:30 PM on weekdays; and 12:30 PM and 5:00 PM on weekends and public holidays. Ticket prices are 24 HKD (front seats) and 32 HKD (back seats). Tickets are now available at the Hong Kong Space Museum Box Office and URBTIX.
The Hong Kong Space Museum is located at 10 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, and is closed on Tuesdays (except public holidays).

Victoria Harbour in a cloudy day
The sky is not always blue, sunlight does not always directly shine on the earth.
There could be clouds and shades. But it should not affect your mood.
It is now the perfect weather in HK - most people find it the best time of the year, other than the short autumn.
Best time to be outdoor - here the Wanchai promenade, behind the convention center and next to the Golden Bauhinia Square, is a good place to relax and chill, to run and walk a cat :)

Popular TKO waterfront promenade
Here it is super chill and relaxing!
You can jog, cycle or walk a dog, a cat or even a huge tortoise like what I have seen today LoL. The common route here is to start from Lohas Park to Tseung Kwan O and further to Tiu Keng Leng, and vice versa.
Occasionally, you could see various types of water activities like dragon boating, kayaking, and fishing. And when near sunset, all boats and sampans will rush back to the typhoon shelter.
Picnic, stretching, dancing, singing, skateboarding – all by the seaside. At weekend, there are tents on grass or rocks at the seaside.
What’s more relaxing than being in such neighbourhood?

Earth Science Exhibition to handle curious kids
If your curious kid asked questions like how the Earth was formed, or you are new to HK and wonders what is typhoon or the hexagonal rock columns in the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark - do come check out the Earth Science Gallery at 1/F Exhibition Hall, Hong Kong Science Museum.
Here it illustrates the answer in an interactive and more interesting way than just reading from books or Wikipedia.
Not only is the exhibition free of charge, the museum offers free workshop about Earth Science.
The gallery offers learning through play experience, which complex and abstract concepts are demonstrated. For example plate tectonics, climate change, typhoons (especially if there are no typhoons in your home country) and different types of beautiful minerals.

An archaeological discovery in the MTR station
You don’t really have to go to the museum for an exhibition. The Sung Wong Toi 宋王臺MTR station, the location itself is already one of the major archaeological discoveries in HK. As the young generation in HK, I haven’t heard of the Sacred Hill before, until I came across with this exhibition.
“Treasures from Sacred Hill” - Song-Yuan Archaeological Discoveries at Sung Wong Toi
Sacred Hill聖山 (aka Hill of the King of Sung), that no longer exists, is the location which becomes what we called Sung Wong Toi. The penultimate emperor of the Song 宋Dynasty was believed to stay on the hill upon his escape from Yuan 元.
The hill was partially flattened during the Japanese Occupation, and then completely levelled in the 1950s for the expansion of Kai Tak airport.
During the construction of the Sung Wong Toi MTR station, relics from the Song and Yuan periods, including massive of celadon wares, were unearthed in the discovery.
There exhibited incense burners with monster decorations, tiles with family names, household utensils such as bowls and basins with carved design or painting. My favourite ones are the cutie goldfish and the tiny dices.

"Light of Jinsha - The Ancient Shu Civilisation"
"Light of Jinsha - The Ancient Shu Civilisation" exhibition at The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre
The Jinsha site was a recent archaeological discovery in 2001. The major findings are mainly about the traditional cultural customs back in the ancient Shu of 4,000 years ago.
The exhibition was not big but there were some interesting relics. My favourite one is the stone set of a tiger, a snake and a kneeling figurine with hands tied at the back. It is believed to be a human sacrifice activity, relating to religion or even occult.
There were two grade-one national treasures, gold artefacts - a face-shaped gold foil and a frog-like gold foil.
The most significant treasure unearthed at the site was the "gold foil sunbird", but only the replica was exhibited here instead.
Majority included utensils made of ivory, gold, bronze and jade.

Seaside - The Double-Arch Cross Bay Link
If you live in or stay at Tseung Kwun O or Lohas Park area, other than jogging, cycling or walking your dog along the promenade, now you have a new place to do so - The Cross Bay Link.
The main design of the bridge is the double-arch, and illuminated with LED spotlights at night time.
The Cross Bay Link could be a bit windy in the winter and also a bit crowded on a day with beautiful weather. A regular walk would take about 30 to 45 minutes.
The best path is to start from the Lohas and end at TKO South, where you find lots of restaurants, cafe or bar with al fresco dining and of course a seaview. That's your reward after the little trip.

Christmas is coming soon! It's time to start looking for Christmas gifts 🥰 Personally, I recommend this brand Scented Niche.
Christmas is coming soon! It's time to start looking for Christmas gifts. 🥰 I personally recommend the brand Scented Niche. Their scented candles are absolutely stunning and they have scents specifically for Christmas!
Ever since I moved to my new house, I have been a big fan of scented candles! I have them in almost every corner of my home!
The design of Scented Niche's scented candle jars are classical, vintage, and elegant. They are definitely worth collecting! Once you finish using them, you can use them to hold makeup brushes or plant small potted plants! They can also add a touch of sophistication to your home!
To celebrate the brand's 10th anniversary, Mendittorosa has launched the Daymonilia necklace. It is made in the shape of a cat's paw with sparkling diamond versions, so all cat lovers can wear their cute paw print around their necks.
However, my personal favorite is the limited edition scented candle by the French handmade fragrance brand Carrière Frères. It's really, really beautiful! And the scent is also Christmassy! 🤩🤩🤩
What exactly is the smell of Christmas?
Carrière Frères uses the Siberian white cedar, which Russians consider a national treasure, as the theme and has launched three new limited edition woody scented candles for the holiday season. The fresh scent of Siberian white cedar is mixed with sweet Christmas roses, smoky wood, and spicy gingerbread to bring a rich festive atmosphere to this Christmas season.
In addition to this Carrière Frères limited edition scented candle, there is also the Parfums MDCI perfume "Painter and Perfumer Series". The perfume bottle is printed with the French painting "Portrait of Madame Récamier", which is both classical and noble!
There is also the S.T. Dupont The Wand candle lighter series. The Wand candle lighter is adorned with black/white chrome plating, which is delicate and unique, and has a great feel! Having it is like highlighting the owner's taste!

Hot pot in peach blossom source Hot Pot in Chinese blossom garden
"The mountains and rocks are flowing, light smoke, and lingering. There are fishing weavers, and the fishermen find the past of the peach blossom source, which is poetic." -- Artist Amatrice d'art
Zui Taoyuan Peach Garden
3/F, Ginz 8, 44 Tsun Yip St, Kwun Tong
Recently, the guests were working at the Kwun Tong office. I heard that there are Chinese special hot pot restaurants in the nearby area. I drunk Taoyuan, so I set off to meet friends to eat hot pot.
As soon as you step into the restaurant, you will be attracted by the entrance full of Chinese classical colors. There are several peach blossom trees and flower and bird lanterns as punch points. The interior decoration is designed with the theme of peach blossom garden. There are mountains and rocks and flowing water, and there are fishing weavers. Light smoke, lingering, poetic.
The restaurant has many VIP rooms for customers to choose from, the Chinese dining table and seats are spacious and comfortable, and the staff are very polite.
A cup of coconut green water is served, and there are three-dimensional salmon patterns in the cup, and there are colorful and exquisite Jiugongge sauces for guests to choose from.
Scented tomato beef stew pot
Choose the soup base of the strong fragrant tomato, the beef and the tomato portion are not small, even after a round of beef is still smooth.
Crispy eel
A large plate of salmon is fat, meaty pink, very crisp and crisp after burning! There is a surprise!
Hiroshima, Japan
Eight fat Japanese Hiroshima Hao, full of grains, so delicious sea water, sweet entrance. Most recommended!
White Photos
Big slices, so fresh, no smell, sauce, very sweet.
Pork and pork dishes
Eight pig meat stews are big enough, the pig meat is tender and smooth, the stew is fragrant, and the entrance is very satisfying.
Sauce popping balls
The platter has truffle pork balls, flower carving beef balls, cheese shrimp balls, foie gras ink balls. The sauce pop balls really swell up at the entrance, and wait for the pop balls to cool down, otherwise they will hurt their lips.
Flushing Crispy Maru
10 balls have sesame and peanut flavors, two half, I will be too sweet, sesame and peanuts are delicious.
