I've been to Yangshuo several times before but I'd never climbed the TV tower hill until now. It was really worth it! I didn't know exactly where the trail started but I had a good idea of where it should be (you can see the trail snaking up the mountain from the town.) I headed in that direction and found myself in a maze of alleys behind the market. I wasn't sure I'd be able to find my way through these narrow streets and then saw 上山--> painted on a wall. Perfect! I followed a few more of these ad hoc signs and soon found myself at the bottom of stone steps leading out of the village and up the slope. It's a typical Chinese trail: steep and all stairs. It's not a long climb though. At the top there's a compound with the TV towers in it; the old man who lives there will take 5 kuai (WeChat accepted) to come inside and admire the view. I think he also sells drinks. I asked him if he climbs up there every day and he laughed and said no he stays in the house there. What a view to wake up to every morning! You can see how the town of Yangshuo stretches out like the arms of an octopus in between the karst hills, radiating away from the area around 西街 West Street.
Definitely recommended if you've got an hour or two to spend and want the best overhead view of Yangshuo. If it's too much climbing for you, go to the hill in People's Park, which is t#awesomepic pped by a small pagoda and overlooks the town centre.

Rainbow moutians in real life!
One of the most spectacular sights at Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park in Gansu, China. I can't quite believe I got to see snowcapped rainbows. Well worth the visit!#mountain ##산 #爬山 #rainbow
Niru: Yunnan's Hidden Gem
Up in the mountains of Yunnan, about 3 hours' drive from Shangri La, is the village of Niru. Tiny shops and guesthouses line the single road that winds up and down, around the mountainside, through the village. If you stay at the right guesthouse, you can watch the sun rise a little different every morning, colorful and lovely over the valley, while smoke rises from houses in the village below. In June, the barley is harvested, fields shimmering with golden treasure. Hiking trails up to the Tibetan Plateau begin here, leading deep into the mountains and true wilderness, far, far away from phone signals or civilization. Niru is a beautiful place to rest away from modern society for a while.

Petra: A Jewel in the Kingdom of Jordan
Petra is an amazing cultural site, with ancient ruins, palaces, and temples. The walk in through winding canyons is a magical experience by itself! I enjoyed the years of history and the education information available. The sunrise feels like a dream among these buildings of the ancient world.
Some of the hikes can be intense, so wear good shoes and take a water bottle. I also recommend going very early in the morning, as soon as the site is open to visitors, because too many people will arrive even by mid-morning.#jordan #petra #desert #约旦 #废墟 #寺庙 #沙漠 #hiking #爬山
