a day trip on the Ancient Ruins of Ayutthaya
it was blazing hot that the sun’s heat will certainly prick your skins. But seeing these ancient ruins satisfies my history buff heart❤️
these temples and their story certainly fascinates me, the endless question of how can they built these things without the help of modern technology. the works of these artisan craftsmen is simply wonderful.
for the Ayutthaya day trip, make sure to bring umbrella, cap, sunglasses and sun block (lol which we didn’t bring any😂)

Journey to the past | Syama Ayudhya
Syama is a beautiful cafe serving architectural-inspired beverages and bakery. From an ancient house along the Chao Phraya River to a contemporary cafe that perfectly retains a touch of Thai culture. It's architect and design focus are impeccable. We stopped there for lovely coffee after our morning temple excursion. We sat outdoors to enjoy the river and temple view. Love the creative drinks, recommend to try their carrort cake and Thai tea. Enjoy a good cup of coffee and spectacular view of Wat Phutthaisawan on the opposite side. Would be better though if they didn't use single use plastic utencils and straws..
Anyone passing through Ayutthaya must visit here.

Luxury great view | Sala Ayutthaya Boutique
Stayed for 1 night to explore the old city. The hotel is situated in the heart of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya - absolutely love the design. Modern blend to Ayutthaya colonial. Very unique, very charming.
The rooms were well prepared, with aroma and soothing music. Such soothing experience for a relaxing break. Bedrooms are spacious with generously sized bedroom and a big round bath tub. Rooftop cafe & bar offers great view and drinks. Breakfast/Dinner experience sitting on the edge of the river was just amazing. Plentiful options and really is excellent. This was our first SALA hotel stay and I was very impressed with the service and rooms.
We can't wait to return and book the room with a river view terrace. Definitely recommended.
Address - Sala Ayutthaya, U Thong Road, Pratu Chai Sub-district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya District, Chang Wat Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya
Note - It is near downtown and is a very short tuktuk ride to most temples.

Wat Ratchaburana - old beautiful temple
Wat Ratchaburana is a very unique temple with its founding story and whatnot contains. It was founded in 1424 by King Borommarachathirat II of the Ayutthaya Kingdom and built on the cremation site of his two elder brothers. The two brothers had fought to their deaths in a duel for the royal succession to their father Intha Racha. It’s also a sad story of how wars rip of history and cultures. It’s remains to remind us of what we miss forever in armed conflicts.

Details of Ayutthaya
Yesterday I already told you about the amazing city of Ayutthaya, which was once the largest city in the world. Well, now it's time to show you its details. And there are a lot of details here - after all, in this city they tried to make all the temples and important places for the citizens beautiful. Alas, after the invasion of the Burmese, most of them were destroyed. Well, most of all, the statues of Buddhas with severed heads are striking - the Burmese believed that if you cut off the head of a statue, then the soul will leave it.

Exploring the ancient capital | Ayutthaya
One of the oldest and beautiful temple in Ayutthaya, is filled with history and aged Buddhist statues alongside the wall of the temples. Very peaceful surroundings. You climb the steps to the top for the stunning view. This place has amazing sights to behold. Highlights are its 60 meter tall bell shaped chedi and a large Reclining Buddha. Lots of things to look at in awe. Worshippers and pilgrims may donate to adorn cloth over the reclining Buddha. Incense and candle offerings can be made at the main Buddha. The place is kept in good shape and clean. We have been here several times before, but it is always truly amazing to be back. Admission fee for foreigner is 20 baht. Recommendable to visit in the morning time or late afternoon.
You must take out a day to visit Ayutthaya if you're going to Thailand. A guided tour is always helpful, but if you know the history beforehand, your experience will be more immersive.

The largest city of ancient world
Until 1767, Ayutthaya was considered the largest city in the world. It was an ancient metropolis, where more than a million people lived. Most likely, if it were not for a small but - then now Ayutthaya would be one of the largest cities in the world and would definitely be the capital of Thailand.
What happened? There was a raid by Burmese from a neighboring state who came here and simply destroyed the city. The largest city on Earth ceased to exist in just a week. They cut off the heads of all the Buddhas, destroyed what they could and went to their Burma. And now 53,000 people live in Ayutthaya and there are many beautiful ruins.

WAT YAI CHAI MONGKOL IN AYUTTHAYA
Wat Yai Chai Mongkol or "Great Monastery of Auspicious Victory” was built by the founder of the Ayutthaya Dynasty. This temple located in the Ancient City of Ayutthaya was built in the 14th century to commemorate the killing of the Burmese prince in the war with Burma, hence the meaning behind its name: a great victory.
The temple is famous for having a 28-meter-long reclining Buddha. This huge reclining Buddha lies comfortably in the sun making people feel the peace at first sight. There are many Buddha statues around the beautiful pagoda.
Tourists are allowed to climb up the pagoda. Just be careful because the stairs are steep and also kind of tiring yet fun! There is a small Buddhist hall inside where you can pray and also make a wish through the well by tossing a coin. There are four gilded Buddha statues in the four corners of the hall and when you look up, you can see bats hanging from the ceiling which I found really cute!

REASONS TO VISIT BANGKOK
I've been here many times, and each time feels like it is my first time to be here. Plenty of places to visit. Floating River, Grand Palace, Ayutthaya, Lumphini Park, Central World, Wat Arun, Siam Paragon just to name a few. Lots of things to do. Best thing for me is the Chao Phraya River Dinner Cruise. It's a promines, you will enjoy it! What I love about Bangkok is that everything is cheap. Tours, shopping, massage especially food!!! oh my. 😍 If you love trying different cuisines, Bangkok is the place for you. They have international selection. With a wide range selection of Asian food. But you don't need to go too far, best food in Bangkok are the street food or market food. Authentic and delicious! It will save you a buck and you can thank me later. 😘🤗😅

KHAOSAN ROAD - for the young ones who wants to go wild and street party. Drinks are cheap. Amazing street food. I'd say the most delicious Pad Thai I've tried was from KHAOSAN Road. The other side of the road is quiet with lots of restaurants and massage place (dirt-cheap) 😊
ASIATIQUE THE RIVERFRONT - this one is a more chill and relaxing place to go to. You need to take a boat to get here. Restaurants and shops are pretty decent.

Ancient City of Ayutthaya…
This is a day trip that starts with a pre-dawn hotel pick-up. For late risers like myself, I promise it will be well worth the sleep deprivation, because the fact that so much has remained from something built in the 1300s will awaken all your senses with its very presence.
The ancient ruins of what used to be the second capital of Siam is a World Heritage site that deserves your time and attention. This day trip is hours better spent than any bargain bagging in Bangkok!

Train Trip to Ayutthaya
As a train trip lover, we chose train to went to Ayutthaya, Thailand from Bangkok. It cost only THB20 per way, it so cheap compared with local taxi or join local tour. It took about one and half hours to reach Ayutthaya from Bangkok Station which located at China Town.
Don’t worry about how to go around after you reach Ayutthaya, there were a lots of Tuk Tuk willing to be your tour guide of the day.
Witness the Unesco Ayutthaya Buddha Tree, take note that please sit down when you are taking photo with the Buddha Tree as a respect for it.
The Tuk Tuk will bring you to the tourist attraction for a day trip.
Took the return train from Ayutthaya quite convenient too, we reached Bangkok around evening time, perfect to continue our journey in China Town for dinner.

Ayutthaya is a less than 2 hour bus ride from Bangkok and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Best of all, it only takes a couple of hours to experience the richness of ancient Thailand.
There are enough temples to go around in this city. Some of the most popular ones are:
• Wat Ratchaburana (pictured)
• Wat Mahathat (directly across the road from Ratchaburana)
• Wat Thammikarat
• Wat Yai Chai Mongkol
Just to name a few…
Cost: Each temple costs 50 baht for foreigners, and 20 baht for Thai citizens
Travel tip: Dress modestly for the temples or you may be denied entry.
Getting There - Take either a train from the Bangkok station station or a bus from Mochit New Van Terminal.
Food & Restaurants - Cafes and street food stalls located across from the temple.

Temple of Wonders
One of the most important temples in Ayutthaya is Wat Phra Mahathat. It’s once glorious temple but still glorious standing today imagining the colorful place this temple was before. History is very rich that you can feel the atmosphere of the place.
They said that the Buddha head is stolen by someone and forgotten that the bayan tree swallowed it and stays there for centuries. it’s like you the robbers cannot steal from them anymore....
Before I can only see the image of Buddha head in the tree roots on postcard, images on internet but now I see it and take my own photo of the Buddha.
Wonders in memory.
