Today we drove to Meinong for afternoon tea. Nongtian, the most popular afternoon tea dessert shop in Meinong, Kaohsiung, is incredibly delicious and highly recommended. Located on a small country road, there's a luxurious guesthouse in front. Entering the house is a green space with a red-brick courtyard. Nongtian Dessert Shop doesn't take reservations. The high ceilings and large windows on two walls offer a breathtaking view of lush green rice paddies and a blue sky. The cakes are freshly made, and there's a wide variety. We ordered (Black Tea Chiffon Cake) and (Sesame Chiffon Cake) along with two iced lattes. It was a very relaxing afternoon tea. The setting is wonderful, and the desserts are delicious. Kaohsiung's hottest breakfast spot, Coffee Awakening, is a must-try. I had a meeting this morning, so I arrived two hours early for breakfast at the Zhongshan branch. I was thrilled to be the first customer there! The spacious, comfortable space made me feel so at ease. The friendly and welcoming staff made me feel right at home. I ordered my favorite classic breakfast, which includes scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, bread, yogurt, and a vegetable salad. I also ordered a glass of hot milk. It was a truly relaxing breakfast. If you want to eat barbecued beef/seafood in Kaohsiung, you must go to (Hagi Yakiniku) on Qingnian Road in Kaohsiung. There is no restaurant that you can't eat without reservation. I made a reservation 3 days ago for 5:30 this afternoon. Two people are invited to have dinner at (Hagi Yakiniku). When I entered the restaurant, it was already full. It was very popular. The next table was 4 engineers working in Nanzi (TSMC). The only things in the world that cannot be let down are (love and food). We quickly became good friends. Everyone ate meat, rice, beef, fresh scallops, prawns, and salmon. The ingredients were fresh. They were fried in a small pan. They were tender and juicy and delicious. The service staff was friendly and greeted us to change the grilled iron plate and add white rice, lettuce salad, and miso soup. It was lively with more people. The food tasted better. The ingredients were fresh, delicious, and full of human touch. It was a great restaurant. It is worth recommending to everyone.

The broccoli had the perfect texture, and the tomato scrambled eggs were delicious, pairing well with the rice. Under the pork chop, there’s pickled cabbage, which is flavorful and complements the rice without being overly salty. The rice is topped with braised minced pork, a signature Kaohsiung flavor. The pork chop has a traditional taste—not too tough, though slightly greasy. The 10-dollar miso soup doesn’t have much in it, but it’s quite tasty. Every Sunday, I meet with Dr. Sun, who comes from Taipei to Kaohsiung for meetings. Today, we decided to have lunch at the Hanlai Hotel Lobby Piano Bar. The three of us ordered four business set meals: eel rice, scallion chicken rice, braised beef rice, and squid rice noodles. We shared the dishes, enjoying four different flavors. My favorite is still the squid rice noodles—the soup is fresh and flavorful, the rice noodles are chewy and springy, and the squid is sweet and delicious 😋. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic, constantly refilling our tea and water, which was very endearing 🥰. The elegant environment, with large sofas and spacious seating, made it very comfortable for business discussions. It's an excellent restaurant. After lunch, we ordered afternoon tea, including desserts, ice cream, and canelés, all of which were delightful 😋. It was truly a joyful experience.

Let’s start with the conclusion: This is the best chicken white broth ramen I’ve had this year! Their menu is simple, focusing on chicken white broth with options like soy sauce and salt flavors. If you prefer a saltier taste, go for the soy sauce option. The prices are reasonable. Currently, chicken skin and rice dishes are not available yet, and since the shop is still relatively unknown, there are very few customers, mostly high school students and small families. Today, I tried the "Soy Sauce Chicken White Broth Ramen." First, I took a sip of the broth—so rich and flavorful! Recently, many chicken white broths have been tasty but lack thickness, so I didn’t have high expectations. However, this shop delivers both flavor and richness, and the more you eat, the thicker it gets. After adding extra noodles, the broth even turned into a sauce-like consistency. Unfortunately, the portion of broth is not very large, so adding one extra serving of noodles felt a bit insufficient. You can also adjust the firmness of the noodles. I didn’t make any adjustments, but the noodles were firm enough and happened to be my favorite thin type, which absorbs the broth perfectly. Every bite was delicious without being overly salty. The free extra noodles come in a generous portion, so I recommend adding just half a serving. Lastly, let’s talk about the grilled chashu. The slices are small and not thick, but they are grilled to perfection, with an enticing aroma. As for the marinated soft-boiled egg, it was just average. If I were to compare this shop to an existing one, the first that comes to mind is Fengshan Village Tonkotsu’s chicken and pork broth. That kind of thick and flavorful broth is presented here in the simplest way possible.
