The drive took about an hour and a half, accompanied by sunshine and stunning scenery where mountains meet the sea, lifting our spirits along the way. Upon arriving at Wollongong Beach, we were greeted by a vast expanse of shimmering ocean and pristine, fine sand. The sea breeze was perfectly mild, and the sunlight was just right. We chose a spot under the shade of a tree, laid out our mat, and prepared to enjoy a healing seaside holiday. 🏝️ Clean Sand and Gentle Waves What impressed us most about Wollongong Beach was the incredibly clean and fine sand. As soon as the kids reached the beach, they kicked off their shoes and started running around. Their little feet sank into the soft, warm sand, bringing smiles to their faces. We had to admit, the seagulls added a unique touch of fun and memorable moments to our picnic. Eventually, we decided to pack away the more conspicuous food items, leaving only fruits and snacks. We set up a temporary small tent closer to the beach, enjoying a relaxed picnic while watching the ocean. This was at the main campus of UOW so there are many other places that give you the same vibe. If you want to study at night, it is definitely possible too. This lookout is a must do in Wollongong area! It gives you outstanding panoramic views. On a good day you can see all the way to Cronulla and even on a rainy or hazey day the atmosphere feels magical! Can't recommend this spot as a picnic spot or a walk enough! Check out some of the walks here to make your trip even more memorable.
