2-night, 3-day trip to Sapporo and Hakodate
In April, I went on a 2-night, 3-day trip to Hokkaido! The itinerary was quite packed, but I hope it can serve as a helpful reference for you!
💰Cost per person (based on 2 people traveling for 2 nights and 3 days):
Car rental: ¥7,500
Food: ¥15,000
Hotel: ¥30,000
Leisure: ¥2,800
Souvenirs: ¥10,000
----------------------
Total: Approximately ¥70,000
🗓️ Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrived at New Chitose Airport around 10:00 AM.
Rented a car near the airport and headed to Shiroi Koibito Park. ← We booked the Langue de Chat cookie-making experience in advance via the official website. It costs ¥2,000 per person, but since we went on a weekday, it was quite empty, allowing us to enjoy the experience at a leisurely pace. In the afternoon, we drove to Biei Town to visit Shirahige Falls (about 10 minutes stay) and the Blue Pond (about 1-hour stay ← stayed until 6:30 PM to see the light-up). For dinner, we had a quick meal near Asahikawa Station.
Day 2: Had breakfast and then headed to Hakodate.
We stopped by several service areas, but since the roads were clear, it took about 3.5 hours to get there. On the way to the hotel, we spotted Lucky Pierrot and decided to try it! The portions were huge, the food was delicious, and we were very satisfied with the big servings! In the evening, we visited Goryokaku and enjoyed dinner at a nearby restaurant.
Day 3: Went to the morning market. The squid fishing experience we were looking forward to started at 7:00 AM, so we woke up at 6:30 AM and went there right away. There was already a long line, and after waiting for about an hour, we finally got to try it! They prepared the squid on the spot, making it incredibly fresh, chewy, and delicious! When I went, it cost ¥1,000 per attempt. Since our flight was at around 5:00 PM, we spent a leisurely time at the morning market and left Hakodate around noon. By 3:00 PM, we returned the rental car at New Chitose Airport, had miso ramen at the airport, browsed for souvenirs, and relaxed while waiting for our flight.
It was a tough schedule, but I was very satisfied as I managed to visit all the places I wanted to go! Hokkaido has wide roads, and depending on the time of day on weekdays, traffic was light, making it easy to drive.
