Heimatmuseum Warnemünde is the Warnemünde local history museum. The German word "Heimat" actually means "home," so you can truly get a glimpse into German life and immerse yourself in the old-world charm of this seaside resort. The historic fisherman's cottage shows you how people used to live and work. Surrounded by antique furniture, maritime artifacts, and stories of everyday life, you'll discover how Warnemünde evolved from a small fishing village into a popular vacation destination on the Baltic Coast.

Warnmunde hosts an annual sand sculpture competition, with the winning works exhibited. There are about ten sculptures, each with a theme, meticulously crafted with every detail, making them truly captivating. Clearly, these works represent the culmination of the efforts of artists from different countries. Each sculpture is accompanied by an information board explaining its features, and sometimes there's a mini-treasure hunt, making the exhibition a truly enjoyable experience. Moreover, all exhibitions are free, and if you disembark from a cruise ship and head to the city center, you'll definitely pass by them.

Construction of the Warnemünde Church began in 1866. Built with brick in a neo-Gothic style, its design is inspired by medieval architecture. This breathtaking church in Warnemünde leaves a lasting impression, both architecturally and spiritually. The exquisitely designed interior creates a serene and peaceful atmosphere. It's an excellent place to find a moment of tranquility and reflection. Additionally, the picturesque surroundings are perfect for a relaxing stroll after a service. Absolutely worth a visit!

I really enjoyed visiting the Warnemünde Lighthouse (Leuchtturm Warnemünde). It's been in use since the 19th century and is a city landmark. It's absolutely breathtaking. If time permits, you can climb the spiral staircase to enjoy stunning views of Warnemünde and the Baltic Sea.

The city is straddling the Warnow River on the north coast of Germany. It’s known for Rostock University, founded in 1419. Rostock Botanical Garden has an arboretum and alpine gardens. In the old town, the Gothic St. Mary’s Church features a 15th-century astronomical clock. Nearby is the cobblestone Neuer Markt main square and Rathaus (town hall), which mixes Gothic and baroque styles. The other main sites are the following: St. Peter's Church, Kröpeliner Straße, Warnemünde Lighthouse, Beach of Warnemünde, the 15th-century Kerkhofhaus (at Große Wasserstraße, behind the Town Hall). The Kloster St Katharinen (Convent of St. Catherine), is an old Franciscan monastery. The Brick Gothic Nikolaikirche (St. Nicholas Church), which is the oldest church in Rostock. Some parts of the medieval city wall, with four city gates, have survived to the present day. #europetrip #travel #harbour #church #citycenter #botanicalgardens

Ever since my sons were old enough to go to summer camp independently, my cruise life has been unstoppable. August 2024, Nordic itinerary, Denmark and Norway, MSC Euribia. Ocean view cabin, two days at sea. Departure port: Kiel, Germany. Take Flix train from Cologne to Hamburg. Stay overnight in Kiel the next day. Actually, you can skip Kiel altogether; it's a bit boring. The train station is a 20-minute drive from the cruise port. Avoid Flix trains in the summer or during heat waves; they lack air conditioning and a dedicated luggage storage area. Since they share the tracks with Deutsche Bahn, they can still miss their final destination if there's a problem. The upside is the super affordable price and no reservation fee. August 2025, Baltic itinerary, MSC Poesia, inside cabin, one day at sea. Calls in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Sweden, and Denmark. Purchase two tours and a transfer. Departure port: Warnemünde, northern Germany. As soon as I exited the train station, I saw the cruise ship docked at the pier. It's a lovely town, but the day before, hotels within a hundred miles were charging over 200 euros a night. The port, which is extremely difficult to reach by car, plane, or train, takes over seven hours. Even taking the ICE express train from Berlin still takes over two hours. I stayed overnight near Berlin Train Station on both the departure and arrival dates. This time, I took the ICE train from Cologne to Berlin, and it was delayed by an hour both ways. You can get cheap Deutsche Bahn tickets by purchasing a 25% discount card and booking at least a month in advance. This time, I booked too late and didn't get a good deal. Deutsche Bahn tickets, like gasoline prices in Germany, are priced on a sliding scale; the later you buy, the more expensive they are. My experience: The interior cabins slept incredibly soundly and were incredibly quiet, perfect for sleeping. Although the former cabin was large and new, and the entertainment was amazing, I had more fun this time around. Perhaps it was because I was forced to share a table with strangers. It went from awkward to engaging in conversation, and by the last day, the boat was filled with friends greeting me. Conclusion: Those who like scenery and new ships are suitable for the Norwegian fjords itinerary, while those who like city monuments are suitable for the Baltic Sea itinerary. #NordicCruise #BalticCruise #MSC

#summervacay Warnemünde is a beautiful seaside resort town located on the Baltic Sea coast, a district of Rostock in Germany. Warnemünde Beach is the perfect place to relax on a nice day, with its blue sea, white sand and cool North Sea breeze that will make you never want to leave the city again. 🌊✨ One of the local dishes that you shouldn't miss when visiting the North Sea in Germany is Matjes, or "pickled herring". This dish is very popular in the coastal city of Warnemünde because it is an old fisherman's food that has been adapted to last longer. It's also simple and delicious. #GetDiscountsWithoutLuck #TravelEurope

Opened up my experience in Germany. Had the opportunity to go to the Aussie sea... It was beautiful and the weather was great. Friends, if you have the chance, go and visit.

Warnemünde is part of the City of Rostock and is a Cruise Port, too. There are many festivals and markets worth seeing. Warnemünde is cozy but lively, has a town museum, picture postcard alleys and a lot of bars and restaurants and the widest beach of Germany! Taste some north german fish rolls - fishermen ships are selling them at the river. Or try the local beer "Rostocker" or its special "M&O". If you want to visit the city center of Rostock you can go by train or ship "Weisse Flotte". #germany #cozy #seaside #cruiseport #100waysoftravel
