If Yogyakarta’s temples are the physical manifestations of history, then the depths of Jomblang Cave (Gua Jomblang) are nature’s most subtle yet awe-inspiring masterpiece! Many travelers hesitate because of the long drive, but this place is truly underrated—the moment you navigate the dark, slippery tunnels and step into the heart of the cave, all your fatigue vanishes in an instant. ✨ The Ultimate Highlight of the Trip Deep inside the cave, the view suddenly clears, and the once-dark rock walls are instantly illuminated by a vertical beam of light piercing through the roof! This legendary "Light of Heaven" is infinitely more breathtaking in person than in any photo or imagination. With dust and mist suspended in the air, it looks like a sacred corridor connecting heaven and earth. 📸 The Magic of a View You Never Tire Of As you wander the cave floor, everyone tends to aim their cameras at the same skylight beam. But the magic lies in the fact that whether you're looking up, captured in a silhouette, or opening your arms to embrace the glow, each shot radiates a unique sense of divinity and mystery through the interplay of light and movement. You truly can't take enough photos, and you'll never get tired of looking at it! This Yogyakarta adventure is worth it for the chance to stand under this light alone. 📸 Today’s Highlight Gallery: 🌌 Fig 2 | Pure Light: No distractions, just nature’s purest beam pouring down. 🙌 Figs 1 & 3 | Embracing the Light: Standing on the rocks with arms wide open—it feels like you're absorbing all the energy between heaven and earth! ✨ Fig 4 | Touching the Divine: Reaching toward the skylight, leaving behind a captivating light-and-shadow silhouette. ✨ Figs 5-6 | The Ultimate Light Corridor: The beam from above fully erupts, illuminating the entire dark underworld. 👤 Figs 7-9 | The Aesthetics of Silhouettes: Looking up or captured in profile—even with similar compositions, each silhouette tells a unique adventure story. ✨ Fig 10 | The Final Glow: A last look at the cave before leaving—no silhouettes, just pure light illuminating a silent world. 📍 Location: Jomblang Cave (Gua Jomblang) 📍 Photography Tips: The light contrast inside the cave is extreme, making it perfect for backlit silhouette shots. Pair these with looking up or stretching out to capture epic, sacred-feeling adventure photos!

Yogyakarta never runs out of exciting tourist attractions to visit. If you're strolling around the iconic Malioboro area and craving an aesthetic open sea view from up high, Obelix Sea View must be on your holiday itinerary! Located in the hills near Parangtritis Beach, this destination offers a magical panorama of the southern sea, Instagrammable photo spots, complete culinary facilities, and extraordinary sunset views. However, for first-time visitors, the journey from downtown Jogja to the Gunungkidul hilly area might feel a bit confusing. The distance is quite far, and the terrain is uphill. Here is the most complete route guide from Malioboro to Obelix Sea View, complete with estimated ticket prices and travel tips! The Best Route from Malioboro to Obelix Sea View. Administratively, Obelix Sea View is located on Jl. Yogyakarta-Wonosari, in the Purwosari hills area, Gunungkidul. The distance from Malioboro ranges from 30 to 35 kilometers with a normal travel time of about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on traffic conditions and the type of vehicle you use. Based on our recommendations, here is the easiest route you can take: Leaving Malioboro: From the zero kilometer point of Yogyakarta, head south via Jalan Parangtritis (the main straight road heading to the beach). Heading to the South Ring Road: Continue past the South Ring Road until you pass the Bantul area and approach the bridge before the Parangtritis Beach retribution post. Take the Uphill Route (South Cross Road): Before reaching the beach, take the left lane towards the paragliding hill or Purwosari area (Gunungkidul). This route is part of the South Cross Road (JJLS), known for its fairly challenging climbs and twists but with perfectly smooth asphalt. Follow the Directions: Keep driving along the hills until you find official signboards, or you can rely on Google Maps navigation to get straight to the Obelix Sea View parking area. Vehicle Tips: Because the route is dominated by steep climbs in the hilly area, make sure your vehicle's engine, brakes, and transmission (both motorbikes and cars) are in prime condition before leaving. After quite a long journey, all your fatigue is guaranteed to pay off immediately once you see the vast expanse of the blue sea. To enjoy the facilities and beauty within the tourist area, here are the estimated entrance ticket prices: Weekday Entrance Ticket (Monday to Friday): Starting from Rp30,000 per person. Weekend Entrance Ticket (Saturday, Sunday & National Holidays): Starting from Rp40,000 per person. (Note: The ticket prices above are standard rates for entering the tourist area and do not include fees for several paid premium photo spots or rides inside, as well as vehicle parking rates). Tourist Operating Hours. To avoid coming at the wrong time, make sure you note down the operating hours: Monday - Friday: 09:00 AM - 09:00 PM WIB Saturday - Sunday: 08:00 AM - 10:00 PM WIB The best time to visit is undoubtedly in the afternoon around 04:00 PM WIB. Besides the air getting cooler, you can catch the perfect golden hour moment for hunting silhouette photos with the ocean as your background. Well, there you have it, the complete driving guide from Malioboro to Obelix Sea View. Are you ready to step on the gas and enjoy the beauty of Jogja's sea from above this week?

If your Yogyakarta itinerary includes Jomblang Cave, Timang Beach is an absolute must-add! Standing on this coastline for the first time, I was completely awestruck. The "calm waters" you see in pictures are actually roaring waves crashing against dark volcanic rocks in reality, sending white spray soaring meters into the air! To reach the isolated rocky island across the channel, you have to take the most primitive form of transport: a manual wooden gondola. Even with safety nets, the thrill of dangling over the churning ocean as the local crew hauls the ropes is a total adrenaline rush! 📸 Today's Highlight Reel: 🌊 Photo 2|The Overlook: Standing atop the Jeep to take in the vast, rugged coastline. 🏝️ Photo 3|The Island: A distant view of our destination—Timang Beach Island. 🎢 Photos 1, 4-6|Team Adrenaline: Watching everyone take turns sliding across the ocean was as nerve-wracking as it was exciting! 🧗‍♂️ Photos 7-9|Island Exploration: We made it! Immersing ourselves in the wild, untamed beauty of nature against the crashing waves. 🤙 Photo 10|The Finale: Finally my turn! A peace sign from the cliffside gondola to wrap up this epic adventure. 📍 Location: Timang Beach (Pantai Timang) 💡 Pro Tip: Getting to the beach requires a 4x4 Jeep ride through muddy and rough terrain. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes!

A vacation to Jogja never gets old. There’s just so much to explore. Am I right? 😊 This time, I want to share my 3-day, 2-night itinerary from my recent trip to Jogja. Hopefully, this can serve as a little cheat sheet for anyone struggling to put together their own travel plans! By the way, FYI, I stayed in the Sleman area. 1️⃣ Day One We just grabbed breakfast at the hotel. Our first stop was Stonehenge Merapi. From there, we went to have some fun exploring Studio Alam Gamplong. After all that walking around, we were definitely hungry, and it was the perfect time for lunch. Since it was nearby, we decided to eat at Kopi Klotok. You can't really do a quick meal here because it’s always packed, but it’s totally worth it! Plus, the sightseeing around the area is great. After lunch, we headed to Tebing Breksi and hung out there until the late afternoon. Right before sunset, we made our way to Candi Ijo to catch the gorgeous views 😍. Then, it was back to the hotel. 2️⃣ Day Two Breakfast was at Saoto Bathok Mbah Katro. This spot is super close to Candi Sambisari, so it would be a shame not to stop by. I mean, we were already in the neighborhood, right? 😊 Next, we took a drive to Hutan Pinus Mangunan. Once we had our fill of taking photos and soaking in the pine forest vibes, we headed over to Pinus Pengger. Honestly, it has pretty much the same feel, but it was still a lot of fun. The weather started to drizzle while we were at Pinus Pengger, so we went on a hunt for some warm food. Sego Godog Pak Pethel hit the spot perfectly—it’s the ultimate comfort food for chilly weather. After eating, we headed straight back to the hotel. 3️⃣ Final Day We had breakfast at the hotel and checked out. Since it was still early, we went straight to Situs Warungboto. From there, we moved on to Geoforest Watu Payung Turunan. For lunch, we hit up Warung Kopi Panggang. The food was so good—they serve those classic, rustic village-style dishes. The atmosphere was really cozy, too. After lunch, we headed down to Malioboro to stroll around and shop for souvenirs while waiting for our train. From Malioboro, it was just a quick walk over to the station! 😄 And that wrapped up our 3D2N trip in the truly special city of Jogja 😍😍. Oh, and just a heads up, my friends and I rented a car while we were there to make getting around much easier. Hope this helps! 😉

South Shore Jogja is one of the tourist destinations in Gunungkidul, south of the city of Jogja, which offers a million charms that are not easy to forget. Has a variety of interesting photo spots and also exciting facilities. The location of the club and open lounge South Shore Jogja is in Kapanewon Tepus, Gunungkidul Regency. Which if taken from the center of Yogyakarta City using a vehicle will only take approximately 2 hours of travel. Even though it can be reached by motorbike, it's even more comfortable if you drive to the Gunung Kidul area by car. South Shore is located between Ngandong Beach and Sadranan Beach. #newyearadventure #tripblazers #mytripvlog #yogyakarta

Watu Nene Beach is the newest beach in Ngasem Hamlet, Tepus Village, Tepus District, Gunungkidul Regency, Jogjakarta. The beauty of Watu Nene beach will be felt in the afternoon or early morning because the air is very cool, the distinctive beauty of high cliffs like a large wall, and the sea sand of Nene Gunungkidul beach is very clean, not polluted with grass or chunks of wood from the sea.

lest go to gunung kidul, beautifull sea. very cheap you can happy cause this view very good. lestt gooo #tripblazers #bucketlistreboot #mytripvlog

Approximately 1,5-2 hours from the Jogja City Center, Mesra Beach has an impressive view and attractions. From my personal opinion this beach is one of the best Beach in Wonosari, you can treasure the beach through traditional wooden bridge that can bring you another experience and another angle of the beach.. The beach already equipped with good infrastructure, there has food stall where you can find some options of food with the reasonable price (noodle, fried rice, spicy chicken, etc), public toilet is comfy enough and clean, also they have safety guard.. But you need to carefully when swim cause the beach is rocky and wave is so big. #jogjabeach #exploreyogyakarta #staycation #beachlife #jogjahiddengem

Ng rumput beach is a beautiful and natural and green beach. This beach is new. More suitable for camping with its coral cliffs and many sea gewan and seaweed that can still be found. #beaches #beachlove #pantaingrumput #pantaipasirputih #pantaikarang

For those who don't know, the name Widodaren, which in Javanese means nymph, does seem suitable to be given to this quiet beach that has natural beauty. Because this beach is arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in Yogyakarta! Along this stretch of Widodaren Beach you will see a clean and beautiful beach, with natural white sand grains, combined with the cool air. This beach is also a beach of coral reefs around, giving the impression of a truly natural beauty. Gunungkidul turns out to have several collections of natural beaches, but they are very attractive to tourists. The potential that comes from the characteristics and conditions of the beach which shows a striking difference with the beach in general. You could say, Widodaren Beach is also a unique beach in Jogja! On this beach, you will also see for yourself the existence of a cliff with a height of up to 7 meters. Fortunately, you can climb this cliff through the available stairs. With this staircase, it is certainly easier for visitors to see the evening sky changing color into a holiday, with the orange sun enjoying to the west. In this coastal area there are also hills, the grassy and spacious Widodaren Hill. On the grass, tourists who stop at this hill can rest comfortably, while enjoying the sounds of nature which are dominated by strong waves hitting the rocks. taking time off from work, and on vacation to this beach, you can freely relax your nerves and thoughts. Resting on a quiet beach, while relaxing from the busyness of course feels comfortable. What you need to remember, because this beach is also still very natural and there are not many facilities available, you should come with enough food and drinks. And don't forget to collect plastic waste and leftover food in a bag before throwing it in the trash. It is feared that when you come only with money to stop at a stall that sells seafood, it turns out that even this beach has not provided the stall you want. #hiking#beautifulsunsets#beaches

#beaches

Luweng Sampang waterfall is one of the enchanting natural attractions in Jogja. There are many beauties and interesting things that can be enjoyed and are rarely found in other similar natural tourist sites. One of its uniqueness is the view. The cliffs are shaped like neat hill scrapes. In addition, the waterfall has a different flow and shape compared to other waterfalls. Both the cliff and the shape of the waterfall have their own process of formation and origin. The origin of the naming Luweng Sampang can be seen from the shape of the waterfall. The flow of water forms a hole which in the local language is called luweng. While Sampang is the place where this waterfall is located. Regarding the shape of the cliff, according to several tourists who have visited this location, this cliff is shaped similar to the Antalope Canyon spot in Arizona, United States. Because they are both in the form of regular scraping from the top to the bottom. It could be that some other visitors have a different opinion. But still, this part of the cliff is unique. The erosion is formed due to water erosion. In addition, the rocks are also not like many rocks that are often found. The rocks in some areas of Gunung Kidul are indeed rocky and almost like rocks. This area is located on the southern coast which is directly adjacent to the Indian Ocean. So that the unique atmosphere of the ocean so affects the nature around the location. At the base of the waterfall there is a small pool that can be used as a water play vehicle. Uniquely, this pool has at least two colors. Namely brown and turquoise blue. These colors do not appear at the same time, but depending on the conditions. During the rainy season, the pool water looks brown with the swift discharge of the waterfall. This can be caused by the swift water that makes the soil at the bottom of the pond rise to the surface. But it's different in the dry season. #naturalwonders #waterfall #naturalwonders

#summervacation#beachvacation#hikingtrails#urbanexplorer

I think this is the best beach environment in Gunungkidul. There are some religion that live in this neighborhood, such as Islam, Hindu and Kejawen. Located in Kaniogoro Village, Saptosari Sub-district, this beach has praying places for the religion I mentioned. So, it seems like it is a religion recreation for the visitors who come to this place. One kind of the job for the local people is seaweed seeker. It is not about seaweed, but lobster, starfish and sea-urchin are also  sold to the visitors by the local. Thus, there are still many more great things to do in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta Indonesia. #wintergetaway #happynewyear #tripinspired #wintergetaway#tripinspired#happynewyear

There's a café in Gunungkidul that makes you forget you're still in Java. Segara by Inessya sits on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, and the view alone is worth the trip. The food was genuinely good — generous portions, and the prices felt reasonable for a place with this kind of scenery. We ordered a mix of local and Western dishes, and everything came out satisfying. One thing to note: the location is down a set of stairs. For elderly visitors or anyone who has trouble walking, this could be a challenge. But if you can manage the steps, the reward is a front-row seat to the ocean. 📍 Segara by Inessya, Pantai Ngandong, Gunungkidul #SegaraByInessya #Gunungkidul #Jogja #CafeViewLaut #TripIndonesia

We visited On The Rock in Pantai Drini, Gunungkidul, and the place was packed — a sign of just how popular this spot has become. The concept is simple but striking: a cliffside destination built right on the limestone rocks overlooking the open Indian Ocean. Walking in, you pass through a dramatic limestone corridor that splits the hills. 📸 Instagrammable Spots Everywhere One thing you'll notice right away: this place was practically designed for photos. Every corner has a spot worth capturing — the limestone corridor, the cliffside terraces, the ocean backdrop, the gelato in your hand against the blue sky. We spent a good amount of time just walking around and taking photos at every Instagrammable spot we could find. 🍦 What We Did We grabbed some gelato — Rock Gelato starts at around Rp 25,000–30,000 per scoop, and it was the perfect cold treat in the heat. There's also a lower spot right by the water, down by the cliff's edge. But to sit there, you need a minimum order of Rp 100,000. Honestly, it was just too hot that day, so we skipped it and stayed up top. ☀️ The Heat & The Crowd The sun was intense, and with the rocky terrain and minimal shade, the heat really hits you. If you're planning to visit, late afternoon (around 16:30) is the best time — you get the golden hour and the sunset without melting. ✨ The Vibe Even without going down to the water, the view from above was worth it. You're literally sitting on ancient seabed limestone, watching the waves crash against the cliffs. It's the kind of place that makes you forget you're still in Java. Would I go back? Yes — but next time, I'd come closer to sunset, order something cold, and maybe brave the lower deck. 📍 On The Rock, Pantai Drini, Gunungkidul 🎫 Weekday Rp 40K | Weekend Rp 50K 🍦 Gelato from Rp 25K #OnTheRock #PantaiDrini #Gunungkidul #Jogja #CafeViewLaut #TripIndonesia

Yogyakarta ♥️ #indonesia

An hour-plus south of Jogja, past rice fields and increasingly narrow roads, Gunung Kidul's limestone coastline hides a string of beach clubs that most tourists never find. Here's my experience. The Spots ☀️De Rocka: The people-watcher's beach. Busy, sun-soaked, and made for lounging with a drink in hand. Not the place for solitude, but great energy if you like a scene. 🪨On Da Rocks: Killer entrance, even better views. Food is pricey and the menu won't wow you, and once you've taken your photos there's not a ton else to do. Worth a stop, not a whole afternoon. 🌊Puncak Segoro: The view alone is worth the trek. Just don't expect much beyond that, go for the ocean, not the menu. 🌅Oblelix: The standout. Excellent food, unbeatable sunsets, but swimming will cost you. Budget accordingly and time your visit for golden hour. Know Before You Go! 1. Entry fees everywhere. Every single spot charges admission - factor it into your day. 2. Minimum orders are the real tax. Most places require a minimum spend, which adds up fast (and gets annoying) if you're hopping between multiple spots in one day. Pick 2, maybe 3. 3. The roads are rough. Small, winding, and occasionally brutal (the road to Segoro especially). Think twice before self-driving; a driver who knows the route will save you a headache. 4. Tanning is a mission. Dedicated sunbathing spots are scarce. Beaches are built for swimming and playing, not lying out, unless you don't mind being the main attraction for curious stares.

If you thought Yogyakarta was only about temples and culture, it's time to head south. Gunungkidul's coastline boasts some of the most dramatic natural landscapes in Java. This one-day road trip will take you from jumping into an underwater paradise and chilling on a hidden beach, to chasing an epic sunset on a cliff edge. Here is a complete one-day Gunungkidul itinerary curated by a travel blogger that deserves a spot on your weekend bucket list! 🐠🤿🌊08.00 – 11.00 WIB | Ocean Adventure at Nglambor Beach. Kick off your morning by swimming with marine life. Unlike most south coast beaches known for their fierce waves, Nglambor is protected by two giant coral cliffs (Watu Kalong and Watu Belah). These rocks act as natural wave breakers, creating a crystal-clear lagoon that's super safe for snorkeling. Activity: Snorkeling with colorful sergeant fish, admiring coral reefs, and taking underwater snaps. ☀️🌴🛖12.00 – 14.30 WIB | Tropical Chill & Lunch at Watu Lawang Beach. Escape the midday heat by ducking into this relatively secluded beach. Named Watu Lawang because of a coral reef gap that resembles a "door", this beach offers ultimate privacy. It's the perfect spot to recharge after a tiring swim. Activity: Chilling in a beachfront gazebo, enjoying fresh coconut water straight from the shell, and having a hearty lunch of grilled fish or fresh squid with a killer garlic chili paste (sambal bawang). 🌅📸💙15.30 – 18.30 WIB | Aesthetic Sunset at HeHa Ocean View Cliff. Transition from raw nature to a modern destination perched on a cliff. Standing majestically overlooking the Indian Ocean, this spot serves up some serious Santorini vacation vibes. As the sun begins to set, the entire sky turns into a magical golden canvas. Activity: Hunting for aesthetic photos at various premium spots, hanging out while listening to live acoustic music, and soaking up the golden hour. [LOCATION & ACCESS]: 📍 Nglambor Beach: Purwodadi, Tepus, Gunungkidul Regency. (About a 2-hour drive from downtown Jogja). 📍 Watu Lawang Beach: Tepus, Gunungkidul Regency. (Right next to Pok Tunggal Beach, accessed via a small rocky road). 📍 HeHa Ocean View: Bolang, Girikarto, Panggang, Gunungkidul Regency .PRO-TIPS : 👉Use a Scooter for a Smoother Ride: The access roads connecting Nglambor and Watu Lawang Beaches tend to be narrow, winding, and steep. Riding a well-maintained automatic scooter is way more efficient than driving a car. 👉Maximize Your Underwater Shots: Snorkeling gear rental at Nglambor ranges from Rp35,000 to Rp50,000. This package includes a guide who will bring fish feed, so schools of fish will swarm around you when getting your picture taken. 👉Best Time to Hit Up HeHa: Try to arrive at HeHa Ocean View by 3:30 PM. The regular entrance fee is only Rp25,000, though some iconic photo spots require an extra fee. Showing up early helps you beat the long lines for sunset photos. 👉Bring Hard Cash: Cell signals in the beach area below the cliffs are often sketchy. Local warungs (food stalls) and independent parking attendants there only accept cash.
