Spain Barcelona Antoni Gaudí's Fantasy World Casa Batlló Casa Batlló was built in 1877 as the home of the then textile tycoon Batlló. This building was not originally designed by Gaudí, who renovated it from 1904 to 1906. After Gaudí's renovation, Casa Batlló became one of the highlights on Passeig de Gràcia and was listed as a World Heritage Site in 2005. The Batlló family is a very famous textile merchant in Barcelona. Josep Batlló of Casanovas owns textile industries in several cities. The Batlló family also founded the newspaper La Vanguardia. Josep Batlló hoped that the architect would design a house that was bolder and more creative than the others. Josep Batlló and his wives decided not to limit Gaudí's creativity. He chose the style of Park Güell. The Batlló family lived in Casa Batlló until the 1850s. This apartment building with an unconventional appearance has a history of more than 100 years. The entire exterior wall of the building is covered with colorful mosaics, and the roof looks like dragon scales, full of magical colors. The walls are all decorated with blue and green ceramics, which look like the palette of an impressionist painter from a distance, but the colors are surprisingly harmonious. The main hall is the most essential part of the whole house, and modern crafts can be seen everywhere in the hall. ⏰Opening hours: 09:00-21:00 Admission stops at 20:00 🚖Transportation strategy: 🚎Bus: Take H10, V15, 7, 22, 24 to Pg de Gràcia-Aragó station; 🚃Metro: Take L2, L3 and L4 lines to Passeig de Gràcia station 🎫Ticket: 25 Euros 📌Small TlPS: The visit takes 1-3 hours.
