This ancient town, hidden away in Jiangmen, Guangdong, feels like an old movie in slow motion. It possesses the allure of Nanyang arcades and the poetic charm of flowing water and small bridges, yet even the locals rarely mention it. What a shame! Today, I&#39;ll share my romantic two-day, one-night stay in Chikan with you from the bottom of my heart.

Let me break my defenses: This isn&#39;t an ancient town; it&#39;s a &quot;living Nanyang dream.&quot;

When I first arrived in Chikan, I stood by the Tanjiang River, stunned for half a minute. On the other side lay an old street lined with arcades, deep green vines clambering along the walls. A vintage tram dinged around the corner. Red lanterns hung beneath the eaves of the arcades. The wind blew, casting shadows on the bluestone pavement.
