I really like the peanut cake from this restaurant. Every time I go there, I always bring some for my mother.
I don't particularly like peanut cakes, they are a bit too sweet!
The taste is good, I will go there more often in the future.
This time, I'm featuring local recommendations and real-life food I've tried. I've shared both my recommendations and disappointments! Before leaving Kaifeng, be sure to pack some local specialties. We even spent half a day shopping for food, and we'll definitely be back next time! 1. Zhongxinglou - Zhongxinglou (Bianjing Road Branch): The "Forbidden City Imperial Kitchen" of Henan cuisine. Address: 43 Bianjing Road (next to Bianjing Park). Baked Carp Noodles: Kaifeng's signature intangible cultural heritage dish! Deep-fried Yellow River carp, drizzled with sweet and sour sauce, and topped with hand-pulled dragon beard noodles. The presentation is stunning, and even the kids love it! Fried Eight Pieces: Crispy skin, tender meat, and generously sized. Just fry four pieces; any more will be too much! Lamb Skewers: 16 pieces per skewer, but the skewers are generous and the taste is quite good. Don't order their Bucket Chicken; it's small and average in taste. The other dishes were excellent. 2. Songdu Heyuan Soup Dumplings (Songdu Heyuan Soup Dumplings (Laodong Road Branch) Dawangtun Main Branch) Address: Northwest corner of the intersection of Dawangtun East Street and Weidu Road. Hours: 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM; 5:00 PM - 9:30 PM. Traditional large pork soup dumplings: The skin is so thin it's translucent, and the broth swirls like an amber jar when you lift it with chopsticks. It's a must-eat while it's hot! Many locals come here for the soup dumplings. Fried Jelly: The first bite is amazing, but a bit oily towards the end. The crispy pork in sour soup is not recommended; it's a bit too sour. 3. Taipei Milk Tea (Laohe Daximen Branch) Address: No. 8, Tieta 3rd Street What's so great about Taipei? A must-try old-fashioned milk tea when you come to Kaifeng! The prices are fantastic, usually in the single digits. I'd love to have three cups a day. If you don't want to wait in line, takeout is recommended. Recommendations: Double Skin Milk Tea, Mint Milk Green Tea, and Lemon Milk Tea. 4. Pangji Yushengzhai Barrel Chicken (Simen Main Branch) Pangji Barrel Chicken Roast Chicken I love barrel chicken, and when I come to Kaifeng, I absolutely have to try the authentic one! I heard it's simmered in a century-old broth. I took it home and it was so crispy and tender, I regretted not buying enough. 5. Chuji Weidong Braised Duck Chuji Weidong Braised Duck Address: 50 meters north of the intersection of Huanghe Road and Songcheng Road, east of the road. It's said to be a local intangible cultural heritage! The duck meat is shiny and juicy, with a beef-like texture and a sweet, spicy, and chewy flavor. You'll never forget it. It's not just for tourists; locals love it too! 6. Baiji Peanut Cake Address: I bought it in a small alley. It's 2 yuan cheaper than outside. I was worried it would be too sweet, but it turned out incredibly crispy and fragrant. I kept saying I couldn't eat any more, but I couldn't stop. Cao Xiangzhai's roast chicken and barrel chicken were sold out when we went. There's also Xingshengde spicy peanuts, Zhangji Mahua (fried dough twist), and Shajia braised beef. There's so much to eat!
