Since we were so full, we decided to just buy a bowl of five-fruit soup and a piece of horseshoe crab cake. There's plenty of seating near the shop, both on the first and second floors, so you can sit and enjoy your food. This is water cake, which I've had before in Chaozhou. It looks a bit like pot cake, but has a powdery texture. You need to top the water cake with preserved radish to eat it. I've had it before and it's just average. The horseshoe crab cake is more expensive than the Lao Ma Palace Zongqiu. A single horseshoe crab cake and five-fruit soup is already 17 yuan. The filling is slightly different from the Lao Ma Palace Zongqiu; instead of shrimp, it contains things like la chang (Chinese intestines) and mushrooms. This one is pan-fried, which makes it more fragrant and flavorful. The skin was overcooked and too tough to eat. The five-fruit soup is also their signature dish. It's essentially a sweet soup with five ingredients: snow fungus, lily bulbs, ginkgo nuts, coix seeds, and candied dates. I ordered a cold bowl, and it was refreshingly sweet, with a hint of osmanthus. After a while, I was tired of eating, and this bowl of soup instantly refreshed me.
