[○] Preparation
- Transportation: Take Metro Line 1, exit at Dazhilu Station, and walk about 700 meters. You'll experience the urban atmosphere of old Wuhan along the way. Alternatively, take bus No. 559, 598, or 707, and get off at Lihuangpi Road Station. You'll find yourself right in the old street.
- Duration: 3-4 hours is recommended. Visit on a weekday to avoid the weekend crowds and enjoy the tranquility of the old street.
- Note: The cobblestone pavement can be a bit rough on your feet, so remember to wear comfortable shoes.
🗓Walking Route:
Starting at the intersection of Zhongshan Avenue and Lihuangpi Road, the first thing that catches your eye is a diverse array of old European-style buildings, including the former Russo-Asiatic Bank and the former Russian Police Station. Every brick and stone bears a memory of history, perfect for a moment of pause and admiration.
Going further, you'll come across the popular Ba Gong House. Built in 1910, this Russian-style building, with a triangular shape from above, was jointly constructed by J.K. Banov, known as "Big Ba Gong," and Zino Banov, known as "Little Ba Gong." Its distinctive red exterior and intricate carvings make for a stunning photo.
Continuing along Lihuangpi Road, the street is lined with arty shops, the aroma of coffee shops wafting through the air, and you'll find a variety of unique trendy brands and handicraft shops. When you're tired of browsing, find a cafe, watch the world go by through the windows, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon.
At the intersection of Shengli Street and Lihuangpi Road, you'll find the Memorial Hall of the Former Site of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. Admission is free, but reservations must be made on-site by scanning a WeChat QR code. Please note that beverages and food are not permitted. The hall boasts three floors of exhibitions showcasing newspapers and office documents documenting historical events, taking you back to that turbulent period of history. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with last admission at 4:00 PM. Closed on Mondays (except statutory holidays).
Exit the memorial hall and head to Tongxingli. Built around 1928, Tongxingli was originally the private garden of the comprador Liu Zijing. Later, it became a residential area, featuring a modern residential complex reminiscent of Beijing's hutongs and Shanghai's alleyways. It boasts numerous arty shops, clothes drying, and green plants in corners, creating a seamless blend of urban life and artistic flair.
After visiting Tongxingli, walk straight along Shengli Street back to the main street of Lihuangpi Road. This is a great time to slow down and browse those shops you missed earlier, picking up some interesting cultural and creative items as souvenirs.

48-Hour Solo Trip to Wuhan The moment I arrived in Wuhan, I immediately wanted to drop off my luggage and check out my hotel. 🏘Wuhan Jiangtan World Trade Center Fanxiang Hotel (Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street) The hotel is located at 1 Lihuangpi Road, Jiang'an District, right next to the iconic "Ba Gong House" attraction, the Wuhan-style Ba Gong Residence Hotel and Ba Gong Bistro (Lihuangpi Road). The surrounding houses are all very unique. The hotel is also right next to the river beach, offering stunning river views from your room. Eating is also very convenient. (The nearby Grandpa Bu's Tea is delicious!) The street near the Dazhi Road subway station is also full of food, so breakfast wasn't a problem. 🍜Since I was traveling alone, my appetite was limited. The hot dry noodles, tofu skin, and noodle nests were all good. (You can find directions from the hotel to: Sanzhen Minsheng Dessert Restaurant (Shengli Street Main Branch) Sanzhen Minsheng Dessert Restaurant) 📸Since I was in Wuhan, I couldn't help but visit the Yellow Crane Tower and the Yangtze River. Wuhan is a city perfect for city walking. Of course, I'm bound to take nearly 20,000 steps a day, but you don't necessarily need to climb the Yellow Crane Tower to see it. 🚇Metro Station - Pengliuyang (Exit B2) You can see the Yellow Crane Tower and its charming pink houses right from the exit (camera view p14, 16). After visiting the Yellow Crane Tower, I needed to replenish my carbohydrate intake. I searched for the Dacheng Road Night Market not far away. There's plenty of food along that street, perfect for breakfast or just about anything else. I wanted to enjoy the breeze by the river and see the river illuminated by the night lights. From the hotel, I took the bus to Qingchuan Pavilion on Qingchuan Avenue. After getting off the bus, a short walk brought me to the Guishan TV Tower, China's first TV tower. Not far away, I walked into the Dayu Mythology Park, which felt like a park. Walking along in the breeze, I could hear the words, "Clear river reveals the trees of Hanyang, fragrant grass covers Parrot Island." Watching the people exercising and strolling in the park, I felt like a local myself. As night falls and the lights come on, I gaze from the park at the illuminated nightscape of the river and the magnificent Parrot Island Yangtze River Bridge. I can't help but exclaim, "The Yangtze River is beautiful at night, its waves reflecting the starlight." It's gentle and brilliant. Wuhan is a city brimming with the vibrant energy of life: delicious breakfasts, elderly men swimming in the river, vendors selling lotus pods from carts on the street, and old buildings steeped in history. As you walk through this city, turning carbohydrates into energy, you also experience the warmth of the people of Wuhan. The Yangtze River Bridge carries the hearts of countless travelers, and the cruise ships on the river carry the hopes of countless tourists to their last moments.
Don't just visit the Yellow Crane Tower when you visit Wuhan! [!] This "Wuhan Little Europe" Bagong House, hidden on Lihuangpi Road, 🔥reflects the image of a "Downton Abbey" princess. Here's the most comprehensive photo guide online! [!] 🌟 Must-Shoot Spots 1️⃣ Panoramic View of the Triangle Building (across from Starbucks) With its red brick spires and curved corners, it's the only Russian-Byzantine building in Wuhan! Take this photo at 10 AM when the sun is slanting, and the brick-red walls have a natural retro effect. ✨ 2️⃣ The Third-Floor Terrace Railing Pretend to lean back lazily (a full skirt makes it even more effective in photos), and the photographer shoots from below, effortlessly capturing a still from "Romance in the Rain." 3️⃣ The Spiral Staircase (now part of the hotel) With its black and white checkerboard floor tiles and carved iron handrails, capture the hem of your skirt as you walk, for a truly cinematic experience! 👗 Outfit Tips ▫️Retro Style: Pearl Necklace + Lace Umbrella + Mary Janes ▫️New Chinese Style: Modified Qipao + Folding Fan (Beautiful contrast with the red brick) ⚠️Avoid all-black/sportswear, as the building's color palette tends to be dark. 🍰 Hidden Gems ✅ See old photos of Tsarist Russian aristocrats at the "Bagong Micro Museum" on the 2nd floor ✅ Buy Sakura soda as props at the "Hankou Second Factory" next door ✅ Take photos of the blues scene after the lights turn on in the evening, and it'll feel like you've traveled back to 1901 🚇 Transportation: 8-minute walk from Exit B of Dazhi Road Station, Metro Line 1 💡Tips: The interior is now a hotel; ask politely to enter. #The Place Most Asked About on WeChat Moments Bagong House is not just a unique building, but also a vessel of history. It has traversed centuries of vicissitudes, carrying the story of Hankou. Let me tell you about Hankou's character, its trajectory, its glory, and its inherent warmth and quietness. This house, originally built in 1901 and completed in 1910, is now the most expensive hotel in downtown Wuhan and one of the city's most popular check-in spots. During the Qingming Festival, I booked a basic room for a stay. The room rate was over 1,600 yuan 💰, including two à la carte breakfasts 🍳. Every corner of the hotel is beautiful for photos. The emotional value of my stay was substantial. #Monthly Special Plan
Stayed at Ba Gong Residence during the Qingming Festival 🏠 Luckily, I booked in advance. The holiday was fully booked. The only room left was a suite for 10,000 yuan a night. Ba Gong Bistro. During the day, it's used for brunch and afternoon tea. At night, it's a bistro. Every corner of the restaurant is a beautiful painting 🖼️ Get downstairs at 7:00 AM 🕖 and you can take photos of the original Ba Gong Residence, sans the tourists 📷. This building is absolutely stunning. It's my favorite part of my trip to Wuhan. #MonthlySpecialPlan #AfternoonTeaCheckIn
