Come for tourism, the taste is great. The good reviews are indeed good
A must-visit restaurant in Xining, very delicious
Summary: A self-driving trip for two people cost approximately 18,000 yuan (car rental and tolls 3,850 yuan; hotel 3,260 yuan; gas 2,234 yuan; transportation 4,523 yuan; tickets and SUV 1,242 yuan + 300 yuan (Zhejiang residents saved an additional 420 yuan); food and drinks 2,000 yuan). Figure 1: General Guide, Figure 2: General Route D1: Fly from Hangzhou to Lanzhou. Ate at Rehuishou and Mogouyan Ramen, both were average. Then, take the high-speed train to Xining. The kang shaved lamb chops at "Yifude Kangrou" were incredible, the best on the trip. I still miss them. The Lanzhou Jiangshui yogurt was also delicious! D2: There's no need to go to Menyuan specifically to see the rapeseed flowers; they're everywhere along the way. If the weather is good, I recommend driving to Gangshika Snow Mountain. The Colorful Danxia is more beautiful than the Five-Colored Beach, but again, we didn't get to see the sunset. The chaotic day ended with Qi Saozi Malatang. It was really generous and affordable; order less. Day 3: Departing from Zhangye, passing Jiayuguan, we found a side road and took in the distant views. Continuing on, we passed Guazhou and saw the sculptures of Emperor Wu of Han and the Son of the Earth. The Boundless is truly stunning. Arriving in Dunhuang, we headed straight to the Shazhou Night Market for a bite to eat! Avoid the B&Bs there; they were scammed by the photos, so we ended up switching to the Four Seasons. D4: Be sure to buy regular Mogao Grottoes tickets a month in advance. Otherwise, you'll end up queuing for an hour and visiting for just a minute, just like us. Even luckier, it rained in the desert, so we had to wait in the rain—it was unbelievable. In the afternoon, we rented a makeup shop at Mingsha Mountain and kept taking photos. We missed the chance to climb to the summit and watch the sunset, mainly because the dunes are so difficult to climb. The day's fatigue was soothed by the chorus of thousands of people. At that moment, we were all travelers embracing freedom. D5: Shortly after leaving Dunhuang, we bought some roadside Matt grapes. They were freshly picked and absolutely delicious! At the end of the main road is Sugan Lake. Heidu Mountain looks even more beautiful in photos, a true ink painting. We settled in Lenghu Town, a seemingly forgotten town. Those with the courage and time can continue west to Aiken Spring, the Devil's Eye. D6: Passing Nanbaxian, we headed straight for Dongtaijinaier Lake. Its Tiffany blue is truly stunning, but the container dry toilets are also unforgettable. The water-based Yadan, a wind-eroded landform, is worth seeing. Perhaps because we were riding an off-road motorcycle, we didn't notice the mosquitoes. The U-shaped road requires a telephoto lens for photography; up close, it's nothing special. Staying in Dachaidan Town, we enjoyed the excellent yak hot pot. D7: Dachaidan Lake is a vibrant, multicolored salt lake, only stunning from a drone. Xiaochaidan Lake is located along the highway and can be driven past. Qarhan Salt Lake is a vast expanse of apple juice, but the brine is stinking and not worth the detour. The scenery is at its peak at sunset, on the way to Delingha. Day 8: Don't go to Chaka Salt Lake if the weather is bad. Very disappointed. Because I was pressed for time, I didn't get to fully explore Qinghai Lake. Traffic was jammed all the way, so I just drove along the lake. The scenery was nice, much better than Chaka, but it was a shame. Summary: 1. The Northwest is best explored clockwise. My counterclockwise route was long and lacked many attractions in the first two days, which drained my energy. I was exhausted and didn't feel like exploring later. 2. Make sure to visit before Xinjiang, otherwise the difference will be huge.
This CityWalk route in Xining is so tempting! You can experience the history and culture while enjoying authentic local cuisine. This foodie and culture blogger is thrilled! 😋 🍜Food Recommendation: Marsa Beef Offal After arriving at the train station from Chengdu West to Xining this morning, we took a taxi straight to the restaurant. There was already a long line there. It was packed with locals and tourists alike. After exploring the sights, you absolutely have to try this authentic beef offal soup! This 20-year-old restaurant uses genuine ingredients, resulting in a rich broth. The beef tripe and beef are tender and tender, and paired with chopped scallions and steamed buns, it's absolutely amazing. Those with smaller appetites can order a small portion first. The white flour steamed buns are incredibly chewy and fragrant. 📍First Stop: Qinghai Provincial Museum This provincial museum in Xining is a must-see, showcasing numerous precious artifacts from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The stunning painted pottery, thangkas, and Tibetan Buddhist artifacts are truly eye-opening. Admission is free, but reservations are required. Admission is timed according to your reservation, so be sure to plan your visit accordingly. 🥘After touring the Provincial Museum in the morning, we had lunch at a restaurant recommended online: Qinghal·Ifude Kangrou·Qinghal Cuisine (Xining Main Branch). This Kangrou restaurant was highly recommended online. The meat was tender and juicy, and paired with the secret sauce, it was simply intoxicating! In the afternoon, energetic children can visit the Qinghai Wildlife Park. 📍Second Stop: Dongguan Grand Mosque One of the four largest mosques in Northwest China, it blends Chinese and Islamic architectural styles, and its magnificent dome is perfect for photo ops! 📸 We recommend visiting between 4 and 6 pm for the best light and the chance to witness the prayers (please dress appropriately). 💡Tips: 1. Xining has a significant temperature swing between day and night, so remember to bring a jacket. 2. Alcohol is not permitted in halal restaurants; please respect local customs. 3. Dongguan Grand Mosque is crowded on Fridays, the main day of prayer, so avoid peak hours. 4. In the plateau region, wear sunscreen and stay hydrated. 🚌Transportation Tips: Taxis are available between attractions, but public transportation is also convenient. #XiningFood #QinghaiTravel #citywalk #NorthwestTravel #HalalFood
A day trip to Xining! Hit the zoo and museums?! While I have some free time, I wanted to share my food and shopping tips!! Several places are very close together, within walking distance!! Part 1️⃣Xigege Yak Bone Soup (9am) 💵Small bowl 22r, medium bowl 25r, and large bowl available (lots of yak meat!! Girls definitely order the small) ⏰They usually sell out by noon!!! Be sure to get there early in the morning. Xigege is seriously the best yak bone soup I've had in Xining. My boyfriend and I both ordered small portions, which were completely enough...and they even give us free refills. The noodles are incredibly generous with the meat, and the chunks are huge! And here's the kick! ❤️❤️The pancakes and spicy meat sauce are delicious, and you can refill them as much as you want. Part 2️⃣Qinghai Provincial Museum (10am-12pm) 💵Free admission!! (Advance reservations required, ID required) ⏰9:00 AM - 5:00 PM The museum has a lot of exhibits! It's well worth a visit, with many unique highland artifacts! The "Thangka Secret Realm" is a must-see: the Qing Dynasty painted thangkas are incredibly beautiful and spectacular, truly admiring the exquisite brushwork of Tibetan artisans! The "Painted Pottery Kingdom" features many vivid pottery figurines! Part 3️⃣ Iford Kangrou (12:00 PM - 1:30 PM) 📍Jiaotong Lane (8-minute walk from the Provincial Museum) 💵50 RMB per person This is a Kangrou restaurant I frequent in Jiaotong Lane! A friend recommended it to me when I visited Qinghai two years ago, and I've been coming here regularly ever since. Their Kangrou lamb is a must-try! The meat is incredibly tender and soft, and not too pungent. They also offer hand-pulled lamb and grilled lamb skewers. Many celebrities have checked in. It seems like it's always packed and business is booming! 🤓 I went again this time and they gave me a gift of a cultural and creative product bag from the Provincial Museum. I had enough money left over for cultural and creative products, hahahahahaha 😂 This place was previously recommended by CCTV's "Three Meals, Four Seasons." Part 4️⃣ Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Wildlife Park (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM) 📍After eating the kangguo, take a taxi for about 8 minutes (starting price). 💵Admission fee: 30 RMB (I don't recommend buying the ticket for the panda park). ⏰Enter the park before 4:30 PM. I don't think you need to take the shuttle bus here; it's easy to explore at your leisure! I recommend turning left after entering the park, walking up the mountain, and then descending from the west. This way you can see all the animals! ⭕️Caracal⭕️Snow leopard⭕️Desert cat⭕️Tibetan antelope⭕️Yak... So many animals to see!! If you're looking for photos, I recommend heading up to the top. You'll get a panoramic view of Xining. It's beautiful and perfect for photos and check-ins, so taking photos from the bottom isn't recommended. 😍 #most-asked-about-places #Xining #XiningTravelGuide #FoodFestival #LocalFood
