When I graduated in 2016, I came to Lijiang to work for four years. I thought I had enough time to understand Lijiang, but in fact I only saw its surface. Unlike the slow life in Dali, Lijiang seems a bit secular. A steady stream of outsiders come to Lijiang to open inns, and it is becoming more and more commercialized. After two years, I came to Lijiang again, but my heart was a little empty, because I didn’t know where to go when I arrived in Lijiang. Fortunately, there are former colleagues and friends here. They are all a group of local residents. With their introduction, I came to Baisha Ancient Town. I thought it was like several other ancient towns and had been commercialized for a long time, but it was quieter than I thought. Unlike the hustle and bustle of Dayan Ancient Town and Shuhe Ancient Town, this is a unique place to escape the pressure of distant cities and forgotten corners. If no one leads, maybe you really can’t get there. In the winter in Lijiang, drinking a cup of warm fruit tea, the afternoon wind is not cold at all, listening to the sound of wind chimes in the yard, I thought I really met the legendary caravan. The melodious and soothing western music is playing indoors, and the snow-capped mountains outside the window seem to be getting closer and closer. I really want to take a nap in such an afternoon. This should be the happiest life in Lijiang. If there is another place in Lijiang that will still come to my mind when I come here next time, I think it is only Baisha, which makes me truly know Lijiang.
