lulu0531With no idea what to eat, I found this seemingly famous restaurant on this app. It was our first meal after arriving.
First, let me be clear: while I don't like Western food in China, I still think it tastes pretty good. However, this meal really made me... "Haha."
I went with a friend, and each of us ordered a soup and a main course.
I followed the recommendation and ordered the split pea soup. The taste was barely acceptable, but there was a refreshing minty flavor in the soup, and some unknown green and brown floating on the surface. I bravely ate it at first, but later, when I only drank the soup, I spit it all out.
Next, I ordered the main course, a shrimp cream pasta dish. The Chinese menu clearly listed "cilantro." I've always hated things called "cilantro." I asked the waiter in broken English if they could make me a bowl of noodles without cilantro. He said yes, and I was looking forward to it. But... what came was a plate of clumping noodles... I think you can tell from the pictures... I only took two bites and stopped eating. The shrimp was delicious, though... When the check came, the waiter asked if I liked it. I told him straight up that I didn't... I couldn't say anything more, so I just showed him the clumping noodles. The waiter was very friendly and said he could make another one. But then I really didn't have an appetite, so I just let it go.
I came here to eat goulash, a traditional Hungarian dish. It's similar to yokgaejang, but has a unique flavor, so I guess it comes down to personal preference.
