It was the first time I took a train to Montauk with a friend. I felt that the train was indeed less convenient than driving. The Montauk station was also quite far from the Montauk Point Lighthouse Museum. The Long Island Railroad Line needs to be taken at the Jamaica Railroad Station. The F line can go directly. If you are going from Midtown, you can take a small train at Penn Station to the Long Island Train Station
However, you don't have to drive yourself. It's quite comfortable to take the train to see the scenery along the way without rushing. And you can see the sea when you look out the window during a section of the train journey. The whole trip is very suitable for escaping New York on the weekend. Staying one night in Long Island, the train round-trip ticket does not need to be used on the same day, just activate the train ticket on the return trip. You can buy it on your mobile phone in advance. It will be more expensive to buy it on the train. There is no transportation at the end of the train, you can take a small yellow taxi to your destination
