Ye Olde Six Bells

There weren't too many people, so it was great not to have to wait in a long line. The experience was great. I ordered a lot of food, and the taste was really amazing, especially when paired with the store's drinks. The strawberry flavor was my favorite.

Dined at the Ye Old Six Bells yesterday with my husand, it was our 1st visit to the pub and tucked away down a no-through road overlooking the river this is a hidden gem. Characterful old pub (said to be the 2nd oldest in England) with plenty of parking we were welcomed by friendly staff immediately upon arrival and all the correct measures are in place to ensure our visit was COVID secure. We had a table right opposite the fire which was lovely and there is plenty to choose from on the menu. My husband ordered the Mushrooms on Sourdough Bread to start whilst I had the King Prawn & Mango Cocktail and to follow he had the Roast Lamb and I opted for the Seabass. The portion sizes are good but the prawns and the sauce in the prawn and mango cocktail lacked flavour and whilst the hot food was delicious, it all needed to be hotter and it's for this reason that I feel it is not 5 * however this would not stop us returning.

The food was excellent and service very good. We were seated next to a group of five who were swearing and being annoying. We discreetly asked to be moved and this was accommodated without fuss. Felt sorry for the waitress who had to continue serving such rude people.

Lovely pub setting. Great service. Food was very tasty. Rump of Lamb Skewer with Feta & Pomegranate Salad and the loaded burger. All cooked perfectly and super hot.

What really stood out was the wonderful service. Lovely chap who was so polite and attentive, so refreshing. Wish I had asked his name. If it helps he had a lot of facial piercings. He is a real keeper and deserves a raise. I work myself in catering and you don’t find many people like him anymore. Outstanding service.
