ALAIN DUCASSE AT THE DORCHESTER

The service here is quite excellent with the staff being attentive to the appropriate degree and so well choreographed. The cuisine is also quite excellent, the vegetable cookpot was a presentation of vegetables and fruits as a truly delicious dish which showed the admirable genius and expertise of the chefs.

There are only four Michelin three-star restaurants in the whole UK, and only two of them are actually in London. One is Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea, and the other is Alain Ducasse, which I went to this time, which is located in the old luxury hotel The Dorchester. Alain Ducasse is French and has restaurants in France and Morocco. He is also in charge of the world's only Chanel restaurant, Beige on the top floor of the Chanel Ginza flagship store in Tokyo, which is a Michelin two-star restaurant. Because there are only two Michelin three-star restaurants in the whole of London, although the price is expensive, it is still difficult to get a seat. If you want to go, you must make a reservation. The restaurant's official website accepts reservations. We ordered two different set meals, the Tasting Menu is 7 dishes for 140 pounds, and the seasonal menu is 7 dishes for 180 pounds. The dishes are completely different, you can try them all. In fact, there is no need to have excessive expectations. I think Michelin restaurants are more about the selection of ingredients, the creativity of cooking, and the layering and harmony of seasoning.

We were brought here by a local colleague, who is a real Londoner and very gentlemanly. The dishes were good, but because it was brought by a colleague, the waiter was very polite and the service was not at the same level as for tourists.

My friend and I ordered A La Carte, which together with white wine cost about 140 pounds. Let me comment on the dishes first. For the appetizer, I ordered carb, which was paired with caviar and celery root (what a weird name...). It greatly restored the most essential fresh and tender taste of the food, which is also the main feature of the dishes in this restaurant. My friend ordered guinea fowl mixed with duck liver, which was paired with edible rhubarb, and the taste was also good. The highlight was the main course. The lobster was particularly firm and tender, and the soup seemed thick but it did not cover up the essential taste of the ingredients. Sea Bass with cucumber is also a very innovative attempt. For dessert, because it was my birthday, I ordered a small berry cake and they were very considerate to help me light a small candle. Off topic, the service of this restaurant is particularly good. The waiter is professional and humorous, and has excellent photography skills (he is also very handsome~~) and the environment is particularly elegant.

The restaurant is near Hyde Park, and there are always sports cars parked at the door. It is very grand and has a very traditional aristocratic feel. There is a crystal curtain private room in the middle, and there are many seats around. There are many waiters, some of whom are Asian. There are also many Chinese people who come here to eat. The dishes are quite satisfactory, the taste is OK, but the photo-taking is very ordinary. For the same price, there are better restaurants in London worth visiting. Of course, friends who are rich and willful may wish to come here to experience it for themselves.

I think the three-star rating is a bit too much. The service is not very considerate but it is still OK. The dishes are indeed Michelin standard but not amazing. The steak is very good, the meat is tender and the sause is just right. Although I enjoyed the meal, I don't plan to come again in the short term.
