The scenery by the water is really great, the wind is cool, the food is delicious, and the service is good
I recently moved to Orlando and am exploring - so happy I came upon this place near my home! The food is really good! The atmosphere is relaxing but festive... indoor and outdoor ..( right by the lake) The staff has been lovely! So far, 4 visits and all were great!
Colibri is located in Baldwin Park in Orlando, away from the attractions and the downtown area. It is a nice place to dine, with indoor seating, as well as outdoor seating overlooking Lake Baldwin. My friends a I had lunch there yesterday, because we wanted to sample the offerings. We started with an appetizer sampler which was very good. For main course, one friend had chimichanga, the other friend and I ordered 2 each of the select tacos (small tacos). My favorite was the taco with shrimp. We all enjoyed our meals. Service was a bit slow, but the waiter was very attentive to refilling our water glasses several times without being asked. At lunch there were several couples in business attire, dining outside. The weather was cloudy, but mild, still pleasant for dining outside near Lake Baldwin. Our bill, including a 20% tip, was $15.00 per / person. Colibri is a place we will return to for a good meal @ an affordable price.
We stopped here last Sunday after walking around the park with our dogs on a lovely day. We sat down at an outdoor table and waited for some one to take our order. Waited, and waited and waited. Note, over half the outdoor dining tables were empty and there was no way they were too busy to wait on us. Finally, after servers and staff completely ignored us I went and asked one if we could be waited on. His response was to ask if we had "checked in with the hostess??!!" Are you kidding me. There were more employees than customers. He then said he'd go check, and NEVER returned. I stopped another employee a few minutes later who either could not or wouldn't speak English but he did go find someone who eventually took our order. We both asked for two glasses of water and we ended up with just one. I also asked for a PINT of any Mexican beer and was a brought 24 oz. of beer. The server actually did not understand what a pint means........ Very very slow service and very frustrating. I just ordered chips n salsa and they were pretty good. She got an appetizer and said there was very little meat in it. We ate here two years ago and didn't have any problems but wow has this place gone down hill. Absolutely no excuse for this type of service. Too many other restaurants in the area to choose from. Next time we'll just go across the street to Osprey Tavern or Gators. This is a nice and safe area with several restaurants and bars and a beautiful lake.
