Your professional guide will pick you up at your accommodation in Cuzco between 4 and 4:30 in the morning. Travel the 3-hour drive to Pacchanta warmly dressed in a sweater, jacket, hat and gloves, as morning temperatures in the area range from 5 to 9°C. Stop for breakfast and buy any last minute items you may have forgotten to buy in Cuzco, such as water and snacks.
From Pacchanta, take in your first views of the magnificent Apu Ausangate Mountains, which rise 6,384 meters above sea level. Take some time to prepare your backpack and then begin the 1.5-hour hike to the first of the Ausangate Lakes. Hike at a comfortable pace over the steep terrain with a small group and an attentive guide who will ensure your safety.
Then return to Pacchanta, where a comforting local lunch awaits. Once you've refueled, soak in the nearby hot springs and relax as you take in the incredible views of the surrounding highlands. Return to Cuzco between 18:00 and 19:00.
