We had an excellent and informative day in the Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits with our knowledgeable guide, Fabien. The tour started with a helpful overview of the Côte d’Or vineyard, alongside maps and breathtaking views. We visited multiple producers—from small to large—all offering unique, terroir-driven examples and more helpful context. We tried close to 30’wines all together, mostly comprised of 1er and grand cru selections—even some barrel samples. A wine tasting experience unlike any other and well worth the price!

One of the most beautiful abbeys I know, set in an idyllic rural landscape. In 1098, the Cistercian order was founded in Cîteaux, born from an ideal of simplicity and a return to the Rule of Saint Benedict. In 1112, Bernard of Clairvaux, a 23-year-old from a Burgundian family, joined Cîteaux. His charisma and fervor gave new impetus to the community. In 1115, he founded Clairvaux Abbey, one of the first "daughters of Cîteaux," which became a radiant center. From it would spring several abbeys, including Fontenay in 1118. Fontenay is today the only abbey founded by Saint Bernard that has remained intact through the centuries. A rare testament to Cistercian monastic life, it still embodies the sobriety and harmony advocated by its founder.


