You start by putting on lifebuoyancy aids and receiving a paddle. Next, you receive instructions at the kayak on how to paddle. Then, you get into a kayak with 2 or 3 people (I didn't see any canoes, perhaps they were all taken). You then head towards the aqueduct with your guide. Longboats also operate here; as soon as one approaches, you, as a kayaker, must wait on the side for a moment. It is a very special experience to paddle over the aqueduct. You can paddle even further on the other side. How far depends on how busy it is and how well you paddle. When the time is halfway through, you turn around and go back the same way, going over the aqueduct again. Fortunately, we had good weather and had a great time with our guide, Anthony.

This was great fun. Three of us had a lovely time seeing a different side of Chester from the river with our guide Ambrose who was excellent. Kayaks were safe stable and easy to use.
