Xunliao Bay
No. 18 of Best Things to Do in Pearl River Delta Area

Xunliao Bay

7.2
4.5/5
2.4k reviews
Xunliao Bay is located on the western end of Renping Peninsula in Huidong, Huizhou, by the Daya Bay. Known for its clear seawater and fine white sand, it is often referred to as the "heaven-sent white gold beach." As a popular coastal resort near the Pearl River Delta, it often attracts self-drive visitors from Guangzhou and Shenzhen on weekends. A coastline stretching over 20 km connects a series of bays, featuring public beaches like Xunliao Bay and Deze Garden, as well as private beaches affiliated with hotels, all with fine, soft sand and gentle slopes, perfect for wading and sand play. The sea is dotted with small islands, among which Delta Island is accessible by speedboat, offering snorkeling and sailing boat activities. Onshore, Mozishi Park is renowned for its "shallow sea stone forest," with giant rocks like Mushroom Rock and Sea Lion Rock scattered along the coast. The iconic "wind-eroded rocking stone," which sways but never falls, is a signature sight and a popular spot for sunset views. In the Tianhou Palace Lingnan Folk Culture Street, the white-walled arcade buildings of Lingnan architecture complement the Mazu culture, making it ideal for a leisurely stroll. The resort area also preserves a natural mangrove forest. The experience goes beyond beach strolls, shell collecting, and sunbathing. Joining local fishermen for trawling is a highly representative activity, where you keep the catch and can have it cooked at nearby stalls. Enjoy the fresh sweetness of the day's seafood with dishes like salt and pepper mantis shrimp, ginger and scallion stir-fried flower crabs, and steamed fish. To avoid crowds, head to the bays near Nanhai fishing village, where locals frequent quieter shores. About stay There are many hotels in Xunliao Bay. The advantage is that most hotels offer a direct sea view, have good locations, and relatively mature service facilities. Bay avenue has hotels and guesthouses of various grades. If you want to save a little, you can also consider staying in a homestay on Xunping road. Although you can't see the sea view, you can enjoy the farmland and green mountains, which are also pleasing to the eye. Moreover, it's not far to walk to the bay. About meals There are many seafood stalls here with very fresh offerings, such as salt and pepper mantis shrimp, ginger and scallion stir-fried flower crabs, and steamed fish. You can indulge to your heart's content. If you need to buy seafood, there is a hard-to-find market in Xunliao town. You can ask the locals for directions. Fishermen usually return in the afternoon and sell their fresh catch by the market.Huidong · 34.4km from downtown

Huizhou boasts two of the most beautiful coastal spots: Shuangyue Bay and Xunliao Bay. These two coastlines are also among the most beautiful beaches in Guangdong. While Shuangyue Bay might have a slight edge in terms of scenery alone, Xunliao Bay excels in its larger scale, more comprehensive facilities, and greater livability. It's also closer to Shenzhen, and the newly expanded highway makes travel much smoother. If you're simply visiting for tourism, you'll definitely want to explore both. If you're short on time and have to choose one, go to Shuangyue Bay. But if you're looking for a weekend getaway, to relax, enjoy seafood, feel the sea breeze, and not rush through tourist attractions, then choose Xunliao Bay. Many people choose Xunliao Bay for their winter getaways.

My first time diving was totally worth it! I got to experience the underwater world for the first time! The speedboat ride alone takes over an hour round trip, and some places aren't cheap, but they included hotel pick-up and drop-off – what a great deal! 👍

Luofu Mountain, known as the "Number One Mountain in Lingnan," boasts not only stunning scenery but also a variety of activities. Whether you prefer a relaxed sightseeing experience or a hardcore hike, you can find a route that suits you. 🏞️ How to Choose a Route? Luofu Mountain offers very flexible options, allowing you to choose based on your physical condition and interests. The main routes are as follows: - Easy Hiking Route (Approx. 5-6 hours) This is the most popular route, suitable for those who want to reach the summit but don't want to be too tired. After entering the scenic area, you can take a sightseeing bus to the lower cable car station and then take the cable car up the mountain. The cable car only goes up to Eagle Beak Rock halfway up the mountain. From there, you can start hiking, passing Hero's Slope, which takes about 2 hours to reach the main peak, Feiyun Peak. - Family-Friendly Leisure Route (Approx. 2-3 hours) This route is ideal if you are traveling with elderly people or children, or if you don't want to hike. The entire route is mostly flat, mainly visiting attractions at the foot of the mountain, such as Bailian Lake, Chongxu Ancient Temple, Ge Hong Museum, and Dongjiang Column Memorial Hall. You can experience Taoist culture and natural scenery in a relaxed and stress-free way. - Hardcore Hiking Route (approx. 6-7 hours) Suitable for experienced hikers. This route requires hiking the entire way, starting from the scenic area gate, passing Lion Peak and Eagle Beak Rock, and finally reaching the summit, Feiyun Peak. There are many steps throughout, requiring a high level of physical fitness; thorough preparation is recommended. ✨ Must-see attractions? Luofu Mountain boasts rich scenery and cultural landscapes; these places are the highlights and should not be missed. - Feiyun Peak: The highest peak of Luofu Mountain, at 1296 meters above sea level. It's an excellent location for watching the sunrise and sea of clouds. On a clear day, you can overlook the surrounding mountains with a very expansive view.

It was good time to visit on evening. But I had just 1.5 hours to visit whole place, I think if you take 2-3 hours, it’s better. Ticket price was 24 Rmb for each person. Better to bring your kids here as well.

A large area with many offshoots to explore. Ride a boat. Pedal one. Drink a cold ice lemon drink. Eat ice-cream. See the wild birds. Plenty of kilometres of wandering amongst the scenic parkland. Plenty of restaurants and coffee shops around the lakeside

We strolled around the hotel, enjoying the scenery built on the rocks and sitting in the coffee shop gazing at the sea – a true pleasure. It was a shame it rained that day, which was a bit of a disappointment.

Huacheng Fishing Port Seafood Restaurant (China Resources Xiaojing Bay Branch) specializes in seafood. Located on Xiaojing Bay beach in Daya Bay, the restaurant primarily serves seafood. The main selling point is seasonal seafood, emphasizing freshness, plumpness, thin shells, and thick meat. It's often paired with Coca-Cola, aiming to provide a "foodie's delight" dining experience. Although this restaurant is located in China Resources Xiaojing Bay in Huiyang, surrounded by the sea, the seafood may be sourced from other regions.

The overall environment is elegant and pleasant, with many private hot spring pools, both indoor and outdoor. The facilities and equipment have been upgraded. The only drawback is that the hot spring lounge only has two kinds of fruit, no porridge or biscuits, and the service is slow, so you have to cut them slowly by yourself.

When I first arrived at Xunliao Bay, I was almost dragged to three unknown islands by an aunt on the roadside. Fortunately, I decided to go to Delta Island. The environment was very good, the beach was very good, and it was a very good itinerary experience.
