Cuopugou National Forest Park is located in Chaluo Township between Litang County and Batang County, and the Sichuan-Tibet Line of National Highway 318 passes through the mouth of the valley. Cuopugou is a collection of snow mountains, forests, lakes, hot springs and pastures, which is quite Swiss. With beautiful scenery and different seasons, it is a dazzling pearl on the Sichuan-Tibet line. Cuopu Valley is famous for its Cuopu Lake, which is surrounded by mountains, close to Zhajinjiabo sacred mountain with peculiar mountain shape, with Nitegangri Peak on the front, surrounded by virgin forests, beautiful scenery, and fish schools in the lake shuttle, which is an original ecology scenery. In the woods by the lake stands the Cuopu Temple. Around the temple, groups of Tibetan horse pheasants can be seen foraging here, without fear of monks and pedestrians. The monks in the Gein Temple fed and raised for a long time, and gradually the wild animals no longer feared humans, and even strung into the temple unscrupulously to look for food, which was a spectacle. Another unique landscape of Cuopugou is the hot spring group in Chaluo Township. Numerous springs are scattered on hillsides, in forests, in fields, under cliffs, in caves, and beside rivers. Intermittent fountains and long-flowing hot springs are rising with hot air, permeating the entire valley, and the hot air follows the sunlight. Flickering, thickening, brightening, darkening, the scene is spectacular. The exquisite riding skills of the herdsmen in the Cuopugou area are well-known in Kham District and enjoy the reputation of "the hometown of equestrianism". In June of the Tibetan calendar every year, in addition to holding horse races, Cuopu Temple also hosts large-scale mountain and lake sacrifices, which is very lively.China · Batang

Dege Sutra Printing Institute, also known as "Dege Auspicious Juhui Sutra Printing Institute", is located in Gengqing Temple, a Sakya sect temple in Dege County, Sichuan Province. The Dege Sutra Printing Academy has a history of more than 270 years. It has collected more than 830 various classics and more than 290,000 woodcut printing plates. Its classics are of high value for the study of Tibetan history, economy, religion, and medicine. The Sutra Printing Institute still retains the original manual engraving and printing method, and prints Buddhist classics such as Tripitaka, Ganyur, and Danyur. All have strict quality standards to ensure that the scriptures are clear and durable. Due to the climate, the Dege Sutra Printing Institute only prints scriptures for half a year, from March 15th to September 20th in the Tibetan calendar. During this period, people can visit and worship in the courtyard, which is called "Balchadong". Dege has become the birthplace of the Kham standard Tibetan language, which is not unrelated to the rich cultural accumulation of the Sutra Printing Institute. Dege Sutra Printing House and Gengqing Temple were originally one of Dege Tusi's family temples.Dege · 48.2km from Jomda

Ranwu Lake is a barrier lake in the headwaters of the Parlung Zangbo River, a tributary of the Yarlung Zangbo River, formed by landslides and debris flows blocking the river channel. The lake sits at an altitude of over 3,800m, and the narrow lake body stretches for over 20 km, consisting of three connected lakes—Yangcuo, Bangcuo, and Leng'anjia Bu—forming a chain. It is no more than 1–2 km wide at its widest point, resembling a string of pearls laid beneath the snow-capped mountains. Its end is adjacent to the Laigu Glacier group, and glacial meltwater continuously flows into the lake, providing a constant supply. The lakeshore is covered with vast meadows, the pebble beaches along the shore are colorful, and white waterfowl can often be seen swimming in the shallows. Each season here has its own highlights: in spring, tree shadows sway on the lake surface; in summer, the meadows turn green; in autumn, the forests are dyed golden; in winter, mist fills the air and snow-capped peaks stretch endlessly, and the lake water also shifts between azure blue and greenish-blue depending on the season and lighting.China · Basu

Genyen Mountainis located in the Shaluli Mountains, the watershed between the Jinsha River and the Yalong River. It is one of the higher peaks in this range, with an elevation of approx. 6,200 m, making it the third-highest peak in Sichuan Province. It stands majestically in the center of the Hengduan Mountains and is known as the Heart of the Hengduan Mountains. It is a sacred mountain in the hearts of the Tibetan people, and the tradition of circumambulation pilgrimage continues to this day. The mountain is part of a massive ancient ice cap relic on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The terrain is relatively gentle, with peaks such as Xiaozha Peak, Kemailong Peak, and others arranged in sequence on both sides. The Eye of Genie on the grassland at the foot of the mountain is a circular alpine lake shaped like a pupil, with the snow-capped peaks reflected on its surface. In the valley betweenGenyenand Xiaozha Mountain lies Lenggu Monastery, founded in 1164. This Karma Kagyu monastery, one of the earliest built after the Kagyu school was introduced to the Kham region, later converted to the Gelug school. Touring Genyen Mountainis generally done by self-drive or car charter along the Genyen southern route, connecting points such as the Eye of Genie, Lenggu Monastery, Zeba Village, and Reti Grassland; outdoor enthusiasts with plenty of energy can also choose a multi-day hiking loop.China · Litang

Eye of Genieis a seasonal alpine lake located at the foot of Genyen Mountain in Litang, at an elevation of 3,885 m, resting quietly amidst open alpine meadows. It is a circular pond with a diameter of approx. 50 m. The aquatic plants in the pond are distributed in concentric layers, forming a pupil-like shape. Together with the surrounding meadows, it looks like an eye opened by the earth when viewed from above, hence its name, and it is also known as the "Eye to Heaven." When the water is full, the lake reflects the blue sky, white clouds, and the snowy shadows of the Genyen peaks. Genyen Mountain, which guards it, is the main peak of the Shaluli Mountains and is known as the "Heart of the Hengduan Mountains." Local Tibetan people have revered it as a sacred mountain for generations, and "Genyen" means "lay Buddhist" in Tibetan. Eye of Genieis hidden south of Litang County, and generally requires a self-drive or car charter along the Genyen southern route to reach. You need to park your car in a safe place and walk to a higher vantage point to see the full view of this "eye." The water level changes significantly with the seasons, and the outline of the "eye" is less distinct during the dry season.China · Litang

Midui Glacier is one of the most iconic glacier views in southeastern Tibet. Here, towering snow-capped mountains, dense forests, and clear lakes create a unique and magnificent natural view as the glacier extends from the mountain peaks down into the forests and valleys. Pristine white ice and snow cover the peaks, shimmering with a crystalline glow under the sunlight. The glacier slowly descends from the heights toward the valley, with massive, layered ice formations where the glacier tongue meets the slopes and forests, creating a spectacular landscape of ice and snow. In spring and summer, the valley is lush with greenery, and wildflowers dot the forests; in autumn, the forest colors become richer, contrasting beautifully with the snow-capped mountains; while winter presents a purer, more tranquil world of ice and snow.China · Bome

Sertar

Sertar is located on the southeastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, in the border area between Sichuan and Qinghai in the northern part of Ganzi Prefecture. The town is the seat of the county government, located in Seke Town. The small town is not large, with several streets laid out in a grid pattern, serving as a common stopover and supply station for tourists entering the Sertar area. "Sertar" means "golden horse" in Tibetan; legend has it that it was named after a horse-shaped piece of gold discovered in Setang in the early years. Prayer flags flutter on the streets, Tibetan restaurants serve butter tea and tsampa, and locals wearing Tibetan robes walk among them. The town is at an altitude of approx. 3893 m, with long winters and no summer. The oxygen content in the air is lower than in the plains, so those arriving for the first time should slow down and prepare enough warm clothing. The town is surrounded by open alpine pastures. In summer, the grass turns green, and yaks and herders' tents are scattered throughout. On the outskirts of the town stands a nine-story demon-subduing pagoda, a stone-and-wood structure that is round inside and square outside, serving as a striking local landmark. The Sertar area is one of the birthplaces of the "Epic of King Gesar," and the Sertar Tibetan Opera is listed as an intangible cultural heritage. Traditional customs, such as the herders' annual Golden Horse Festival, continue to this day. Many people travel specifically to Sertar to catch a glimpse of the Larung Gar Buddhist Academy, located approx. 20 km from the town—the red monk dwellings covering the mountainside from the valley floor to the ridge are a spectacular sight.China · Sertar

The first big temple after Sichuan entered Tibet | Wala Temple, the eastern gate of Tibet The first big temple after Sichuan entered Tibet After driving National Highway 317 from western Sichuan to eastern Tibet, the first magnificent temple you see is the Wala Buddhist College on the top, which should be a branch of Seda. But the scale is not that big. It is one of the main temples of the Sakya tradition. It is called the "Eastern Gate of Tibet" Follow 317 and you will see Tibetans feeding wild monkeys on the roadside. . Take a whole box of biscuits 🍪 and throw them over. . . I got off the car to take a picture of the monkey, and the fat monkey kept staring at me, which scared me a little. . Because I didn't have any food in my hand. . It felt like his eyes were: take a picture of me, but don't give me food! ! ! 🐒 Better than the temple 🏯 hahaha [Scenery]

The moment the sun came out, it was all worth it. The scenic area still has room for further development; compared to other attractions in western Sichuan, it's relatively simple. Driving in is a pleasant experience, and on a sunny day, it's a place worth passing through.

Today we set off from Derge and arrived at Danba. Derge Scripture Printing House, Xinluhai, Queershan Snow Mountain, Kasa Lake, and the beautiful scenery of western Sichuan are no worse than that of Tibet. Especially the Derge section of 317, the scenery is beautiful, the road is good, and there are few cars. It is recommended to go there, even if you don't go to Tibet, it is worth it

Tibet! I would like to do it thousands of times! To see the most beautiful scenery of Ranwu Lake, you must go there in early spring in Tibet, around mid-to-late April, when the frozen lake surface has just melted, the azure blue water is exposed above the ice, and the snow-capped mountains are reflected in the water. After seeing it, you can't help but sigh: It's so beautiful!

Internet-famous Tree The alarm clock hit 6:35 AM, and I crawled out of the tent and showered with ice-cold water. All the sleepiness was gone! Breakfast was at 7:30 AM, and we set off at 8:00 AM sharp! Today's destination was the internet-famous tree! Honestly, without a guide, I wouldn't have known which tree it was. 😂 But the highlight of the day wasn't the destination, but the grassland scenery along the way. This was my first time exploring such a vast expanse of grassland! The mountain was covered in tiny toothbrush flowers, so beautiful! We naturally took tons of beautiful photos. I was even happier to capture the beautiful scenery and my companions than to take any beautiful photos myself! The snow-capped mountains, as usual, were shy, revealing only a portion of their appearance. We rested at a tree for a snack and waited for almost half an hour, but still didn't get to see the entirety of Genyen. Today's hike: 26,017 steps

The journey along the southern route of Genyen was absolutely amazing! Everywhere you looked was a delightful surprise: the magnificent glacial relics of Tiejian Mountain, the lush green grasslands of the Reti River Valley, and the picturesque scene of smoke rising from Tibetan villages mingling with prayer flags. The heart of the route, the "Eye of Genyen," was truly breathtaking—a circular lake like the eye of the earth, surrounded by aquatic plants, its reflection of the Genyen peaks clearly visible from a drone view. The entire route was a tapestry of snow-capped mountains, grasslands, and ancient temples, with few tourists and pristine scenery. Every moment of this self-driving adventure felt like stepping into a fairyland, a journey worth revisiting!

First of all, don't ride a horse when you go to Midui. Don't ride a horse. Don't ride a horse. Don't ride a horse. I'll say it three times. Reasons: First, the walking path is only 1.5 kilometers. Although the altitude is 3,900, the walking route is full of ancient forests. There is plenty of oxygen. Basically, you don't have to worry about altitude sickness. You can walk and stop and have fun. It's very easy to walk to the viewing platform. When I went there, even the old men and women in the sunset group who took the scenic area car walked to the viewing platform. Second, the round-trip price of horse riding is 100 per person. If you take another route, you will miss the scenery on the walking path. And it will limit your time to take pictures at the viewing platform. In addition, the horses are very dirty, not to mention the smell. Third, and most importantly, you can't choose the horse. You have to ride whatever is brought to you. There is no choice. Basically, 90% of the horses are pitifully thin. Those who want to take pictures on horseback advise you to give up this idea. And the local Tibetans who lead horses are extremely arrogant and bad, and even pull you. Because of this personal experience, I chose to walk. Now it seems to be a very correct choice, so I don't want to ruin the good mood of the trip, I advise you to get off the scenic area bus and go straight to the walking path. As for the scenery of Midui Glacier, I personally feel it is worth it. In addition, let's talk about the walking time. Three hours is enough for walking, stopping, taking photos, resting, taking photos at the viewing platform, and taking aerial photos. Don't worry about altitude sickness. I took my 70-year-old mother who has basic diseases such as hypertension and coronary heart disease, and she walked to the viewing platform easily. So finally, I advise you again, stay away from the horses in Midui and those villagers who are trying to cheat you out of money.

Approaching it with reverence is more important than bringing a camera.
