The rainwater and snow water accumulated throughout the year in the park are gushing from the ground and are directly drinkable spring water. Local residents also come here to use it. The natural beauty of the park and the trail around the lake are refreshing. There are shops and restaurants near the park. The alpine plant belt of Mount Yotei in the back, or go to the nearby hot springs, or go to the Asahi Valley to enjoy the embrace of Hokkaido's nature. Its well-preserved beauty and coniferous forests are like a wonderland, and you can also go skiing in winter. In the famous water park, there are many spring exits made of bamboo, so that the public can use it directly or bottled water to take home. Rainwater and snow water have been filtered through the rock formations for many years and then flow out naturally.Kyogoku · 1.1km from downtown

Noboribetsu Jigokudani Valley is a volcanic explosion crater formed by volcanic activity and serves as a major source of Noboribetsu Onsen. The valley measures approximately 450 meters in diameter, with exposed gray-white and reddish-brown rocks, numerous hot spring vents, and fumaroles. Hot water continuously rises from the ground, releasing clouds of white steam and filling the air with a distinct sulfurous smell, creating a striking volcanic landscape. The valley produces a large volume of hot spring water daily, supplying nearby hot spring facilities. Walking along the wooden boardwalks offers close views of the rock walls, steam vents, and bubbling hot springs, revealing the geothermal activity beneath the surface. Tessen-ike, located in the valley, is a geyser where the water periodically boils and releases rising steam, highlighting the area's active geothermal features. An observation deck near the entrance provides panoramic views of the valley, where exposed rock formations contrast with drifting steam. In autumn, colorful foliage across the surrounding hills contrasts with the rugged terrain. In winter, snow covers the landscape, while rising steam stands out against the cold air, creating a distinctive seasonal scene.Noboribetsu · 45.6km from Kyogoku

The Otaru Canal is a popular tourist attraction representing Otaru City and Hokkaido. Along the canal, brick warehouses stand in rows, now repurposed as unique shops such as glass craft stores and cafes. On the opposite side, oil lamp-style streetlights line the path, creating a charming retro and romantic atmosphere. Especially on winter nights, the scenery becomes even more magical and beautiful. The canal opened in 1923 and once supported the prosperity of this area, which was called "Wall Street of the North," by being used for loading and unloading cargo. Today, part of the canal has been reclaimed and is used as a road. A stroll along the canal Taking a walk along the canal during the daytime is a very pleasant experience. One side features a long promenade lined with Victorian-style street lamps, creating a somewhat nostalgic atmosphere. Along the path, you can often see artists painting. On the other side, rows of brick warehouses create a picturesque spot perfect for photography, complemented by the blue sky and its reflection on the water surface. Gourmet and Shopping You can enjoy Otaru souvenirs and local cuisine at shops and restaurants converted from warehouses. The particularly popular "Otaru Canal Dining Hall" features retro interiors recreating the streetscapes of the Showa era, gathering famous ramen shops, Genghis Khan (Daruma) grilled lamb, crab dishes, and conveyor belt sushi. During meal times, there may be waiting periods. Popular photo spots The "Asakusa Bridge" at the southern end of the canal is a classic photo spot. The view extending from the bridge to Chuo Bridge is known as a representative landscape of the Otaru Canal. There is a tourist information center near the bridge where you can obtain maps and sightseeing information. Benches are also available, making it convenient for taking breaks. Rickshaw Experience You can also ride a rickshaw near Asakusabashi. A traditional-costumed rickshaw driver will guide you in Japanese, allowing you to enjoy the retro streetscape more deeply. Estimated price: · Approx. 10 minutes: ¥2,000 per person / ¥3,000 for 2 people Canal cruise Sightseeing by boat on the Otaru Canal is also popular. The departure and arrival point is Chuo Bridge, and the tour takes approximately 40 minutes to navigate the canal. Estimated price: · Daytime: ¥1,500 (Children ¥500) · Evening: ¥1,800 (Children ¥500) Nighttime Charm At night, the streetlights illuminate, creating a magical atmosphere as their reflections dance on the warehouse walls and canal waters. Especially on snowy winter evenings, the quiet and romantic scenery captivates many visitors. Noboribetsuonsencho is famous for its abundant hot spring resources and diverse water qualities. Hot spring inns, hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops are distributed along the streets, surrounded by mountains and forests, with a distinct geothermal landscape. The hot spring water mainly comes from the Noboribetsu Jigokudani Valley area, with a daily output of approx. 10,000 tons. The water types are rich and varied, including milky white sulfur springs with a sulfurous scent, as well as salt springs, iron springs, and sodium bicarbonate springs, earning it the title of department store of hot springs. The hot spring street features an ogre theme, with statues of red and blue ogres scattered along the street, adding fun to your stroll. Inside the Enma-do Hall, there is a statue of King Enma that periodically performs a show where its facial expression changes, presenting the legendary scene of the judgment of hell. The Jigoku Matsuri held in summer is also quite unique, with King Enma and various ogres parading through the streets, filling the hot spring street with a lively festive atmosphere. In addition to soaking in the hot springs, you can also walk through the forest along the Oyunuma River Natural Footpath to enjoy the stream and surrounding vegetation, and soak your feet in the natural foot bath, feeling the warm spring water slowly flow by. When it snows in winter, the steam rising from the open-air hot springs contrasts with the white snowy scenery, adding a unique mountain charm to this place.Noboribetsu · 45.8km from Kyogoku

Mt. Yotei, according to the introduction, is located on the shore of Lake Toya in Hokkaido, 1,898 meters above sea level, and is a conical active volcano. At first glance, it looks very similar to Mt. Fuji. I took several photos of Mt. Yotei, with the blue sky as the background, clouds floating on Mt. Yotei, and unmelted ice and snow on the top of the mountain, which is quite beautiful.

Fukidashi Park is one of my favourite spot to see autumn leaf amongst locals and visitors alike. Not only that, this place is also home to spring water that has been on the ‘Japan’s 100 Best Spring Water’ list since 1985. Damn Cool!!!! However i have not finished exploring this beautiful place cuz so many good photogenic spots. So dont let autumn go without visiting this place.

A Record of My Romantic Winter Trip in January 2020~ The first day I arrived at Lake Toya was a very overcast day; the entire lake was shrouded in a gray haze, and Mount Yotei was completely invisible, but I still happily took photos for a long time, haha. The second day, the sky cleared, and the scenery of Lake Toya instantly improved several levels. The clear sky, dotted with a few small white clouds, made the lake surface appear a beautiful blue, and many, many ducklings were playing and frolicking on the lake. The distant mountain ranges and the snow-capped Mount Yotei were clearly visible—such a beautiful scene, peaceful and serene. Just sitting by the lake, gazing into the distance, and all my worries would disappear.

Never thought we would enjoy a chocolate factory so much even though we didn’t try any chocolate during the visit! It was very sighftul and yet full of surprises we walked till they close! Don’t forget to get the parking coupon vouchers from them to get discount off the carpark. We bought our tickets from trip.com and could use them instantly, offsetting coins! Best deal ever! The 6-years old daughter even tried a simple 10mins snack making course for 900yen!

Odori Park, located near Sapporo Station in downtown Sapporo, isn't particularly large, resembling a typical garden or green space in Japan. However, the famous Sapporo TV Tower is right next to the park, attracting numerous tourists from all over the world. The area is packed with people eager to take photos.

The red brick warehouses on both sides of the Otaru Canal have been converted into glass craft shops, restaurants, cultural and creative shops and exquisite cake shops. It only takes about 50 minutes by train from JR Sapporo Station (680 yen), and it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the canal from JR Otaru Station! Before going, you can check online to see if the Otaru Canal has festive lights, especially for taking photos. Beautiful!

I came here for the hot springs and Noboribetsu Jigokudani. Since it is not the peak tourist season, the town is particularly quiet. The air is filled with the smell of sulfur everywhere, uh, it is very much like rotten eggs. Except for a few restaurants at night, shops, souvenir shops, etc. are closed early. Walking on the street, there is only the sound of feet tapping on the road. Only when you walk into the restaurant and hot spring hotel, you seem to be back to the bustling world. The town is not big, and it takes half a day to walk around.
