Things to do in Menglian

Nayun Ancient Town is located in Menglian Dai, Lahu and Wa Autonomous County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province. It is the last well-preserved Dai ancient town in China, with a history of more than 700 years. There are many attractions in the ancient town, including Xuanfu Office, Menglian Shwedagon Pagoda, Shangcheng Buddhist Temple, Zhongcheng Buddhist Temple, etc. Here you can feel the strong Dai culture and historical atmosphere, and you will definitely feel a unique travel experience.

The Menglian Golden Pagoda is the largest golden Buddhist pagoda in southwestern Yunnan. The entire pagoda is composed of eight subsidiary pagodas surrounding a main pagoda. The center of the base of the pagoda is a circular hall with a large golden Buddha statue inside. The platform around the base of the pagoda is surrounded by statues of auspicious animals such as dragons, white cranes, lions, and unicorns.

The entire ancient building complex of the Menglian Xuanfu Office faces north and south, and consists of a government office, a meeting hall, a main hall, east and west wing rooms, a kitchen, a warehouse, etc. From a functional point of view, the Xuanfu Office is both a daily living place for the Tusi and an office place. The gate of the Menglian Xuanfu Office is a double-layer small Xieshan style flying eaves and arched gate hall. The golden doorposts are shining and dazzling in the sun. No wonder the Xuanfu Office is called "Hehan" in Dai language, which means "golden palace". Entering the door, the three-eaved Xieshan roof stilt-style meeting hall appears in front of you, which is very impressive. The ground floor is an open hall with a ground floor and a seat railing. It is a place for Tusi to watch singing and dancing and rest, and it is also a place for the integration of various ethnic cultures. Every year during major festive festivals such as the Spring Festival and the Water Splashing Festival, the Tusi Yamen will be open to the people for 3 days, and the ground floor has become the place where the Tusi receives the people.

Menglian Zongfo Temple (Exquisite) I have been looking for the Lower Buddhist Temple, and later I heard that the Zongfo Temple and the Lower Buddhist Temple are together! It is really beautiful inside, but I didn’t dare to take pictures

It's incredibly beautiful. If you're able to walk and don't mind getting tired, you could definitely spend a whole day there. But remember to wear sunscreen! The scenery is truly stunning, with a rich variety of plant species. This time I visited the west section; next time I might explore the rainforest and head to the east section.

Manting Royal Garden and the General Buddhist Temple are directly connected by a passageway, and the scenery in the park is absolutely stunning. There are also elephant shows, making for fantastic photo opportunities. Sitting by the lake feeding the fish and watching the wild ducks is a peaceful and relaxing experience, definitely worth a visit.

Highly recommended! The Wild Elephant Valley cable car was one of my favorite parts. The route is long, the natural environment is beautiful, and the cabins are well-ventilated and great for taking photos. We searched for wild elephants the whole way, and my child was lucky enough to spot monkeys! The staff were very helpful when getting on and off the cable car, which made us feel safe. Highly recommended!

云南普饵景迈山是新入选世界文化景观遗产的小众原生态景点。这里生态环境极佳，游人相对较少，特别适合慢游或旅居。糯干古寨全是有着较长年头的傣族寨子，比西双版纳的著名傣族村寨更原生态。古茶林里生长着众多古茶树。更特别的是茶树就生长在山林下。景区内的道路全部用石头铺就，感觉非常古朴。这里距离西双版纳景洪市比普饵市更近，亲们可以在游玩西双版纳后顺便到景迈出游览。

It's recommended to visit Xishuangbanna Primitive Forest Park in the morning to avoid the afternoon sun. Be sure to bring mosquito repellent, a sun hat, and non-slip sneakers, as there are many mosquitoes in the rainforest and the trails can be slippery. Don't miss the peacock release show; arrive early to secure a front-row spot. Do not touch wild animals, respect local customs, protect the rainforest vegetation, and stay on the designated trails for safety.
