Bao'en Temple in Pingwu, fully named "The Imperially Built Bao'en Temple," was constructed starting in 1440 (the 5th year of the Ming Zhengtong era) and completed in 1460 (the 4th year of the Ming Tianshun era). Covering an area of 27,888 m² with a building area of 3,518 m², it follows the traditional "Seven-Hall" monastery layout and was built using official architectural techniques from the "Treatise on Architectural Methods." It is one of China's best-preserved ancient wooden architectural complexes from the Ming Dynasty, designated as a national key cultural relic protection unit, a AAAA-level tourist attraction, and a teaching and research base for Tsinghua University's School of Architecture. The temple's "six wonders"—the revolving sutra library, thousand-armed Guanyin, myriad dragons supporting the roof, intricate bracket sets and mortise-tenon joints, Ming Dynasty murals, and exclusive use of nanmu wood—hold immense historical, artistic, scientific, and cultural value. They provide significant insights for modern archaeology, research, and the promotion of traditional virtues and gratitude.Pingwu · 2.2km from downtown

The Dujiangyan Irrigation System is located along the main branch of the Lancang River, west of Dujiangyan City. It was constructed in the Qin dynasty around 256 BC by Li Bing, Prefecture Chief of Shu County, and his son. It is one of the few ancient Chinese water conservancy projects that has remained preserved and intact. The project consists of three primary works—Yuzui Diverting Embankment, the Feishayan Spillway, and the Baopingkou Water Inlet, and two secondary works which include the Baizhangdi (the thousand-feet dam) and Renzidi (the y-shaped dam). They divide the Yongjiang River into an outer and an inner branch, the former of which is used to divert floods and the latter for irrigation. This has allowed the Western Sichuan plateau to become "the land of abundance" as we now know it.China · Dujiangyan

I happened to arrive during the temple's flowering season. It was raining in the city, but the sun came out once we entered the mountains. I recommend hiring a guided tour. After all, this temple has history and is worth seeing. Doing your research beforehand will enhance the experience. I suggest you explore Pingwu thoroughly. Most of the temple's beams and pillars are made of Phoebe zhennan wood and have been preserved to this day. The wooden prayer wheel is 11 meters high, which is very rare. I hope more people will visit it.

If the weather is good, the scenery is okay, but there are not many attractions to see, so the time spent there is relatively short. The round trip takes more than two hours, including the time spent on the sightseeing bus and waiting time.

The scenery was beautiful, and there weren't too many people during the National Day holiday. The wait for the bus was about 20 minutes. The main attractions are Ganhaizi and Baishagou, which take about 4-5 hours to walk. It's best to bring your own instant noodles. The supply points offer free hot water and grilled sausages for 10 yuan each, which isn't expensive. It rained on the return trip, and they provided free raincoats. The volunteer service was excellent; a sincere thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻

It is worth a visit. You need to drive by yourself. The road condition is still OK. Some sections are narrow and uneven. Tianmu Lake is very beautiful. You can ride horses in the ancient village scenic area.

The scenic spot is nearly three hours away from Pingwu County. February and March every year are the best time to see the wonders of the icefall. The scenery here is beautiful and the icefall is spectacular. It is highly recommended to visit here.

Tianmu Lake in Pingwu, Mianyang, Sichuan: Located in Wanglang Nature Reserve, Pingwu County, Mianyang City, Sichuan Province, near Yazhezaozu Village. On the way from Pingwu County to Jiuzhaigou by car, you will pass by Tianmu Lake, which is next to Provincial Highway 205 near Yazhezaozu Village. Climbing up to the observation deck, the lake area is clear at a glance, with blue sky and white clouds, green mountains and clear water, and beautiful scenery, which is pleasing to the eye.

Because of some unforeseen circumstances, we didn't enter the scenic area until after 2 PM. It was so cold for the Dragon Boat Festival; the wind was howling and it was raining. I hadn't brought a jacket, so I just took a quick look around. I thought it was a riverside boardwalk, but it turned out to be a mountain climb, which was too tiring, so we gave up. We only saw monkeys around the hotel in the scenic area, which was a bit of a disappointment, but the kids had a great time.

Jiuzhaigou is a fairyland left behind by the heavens on earth. It is so beautiful that it makes you want to cry. The Pearl Shoal Waterfall, the filming location of the 1986 TV series Journey to the West, is even more unforgettable. Its water either cascades down in thousands of strands with a graceful posture that makes people linger, or it gallops like ten thousand horses with a huge momentum that makes people feel awe. "After visiting Jiuzhaigou, you will not see any water again." It is indeed well-deserved!
