Photos of Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy
Pingshan Academy is located in Andong City, South Korea. It was a famous private educational institution in the Joseon Dynasty and was established by the North Korean Confucian Liu Chenglong. In 1978, Pyeongsan Seowon was designated as Korea's No. 260 Historic Site. There are more than 3,000 volumes of literature in the academy. Every year in mid-March and mid-September of the lunar calendar, sacrifices to the famous North Korean Prime Minister Seiyaliu Chenglong are held. The academy is famous for its architectural style that is in harmony with nature. The Nakdong River, white sandy beach, cliffs, flowers in spring and red leaves in autumn create a wonderful scenery in front of it.
