Museum Het Schip

The Netherlands was once the world's maritime power, so it has colonized many countries and regions in the world, in the ship museum can not only visit the history of shipbuilding in the Netherlands, but also understand the history of sailing.

The ship was built in 1914 as a cargo ship, and the owner transformed it into a houseboat, which later became a museum open to the public.

Built between 1917 and 1920, it's a representative work of Dutch architectural expressionism. The original intention of the building was to house the laborers. As a result, the designer created a dreamlike and emotional residence. The three buildings are surrounded by triangular buildings, red brick curved exterior walls with detailed decoration, high-hanging windows with different slopes of roofs, and tall spires, which are fairy tales. This work is praised and criticized differently, and many details are considered useless design.
