Strenuous but worth it.
It is so good to come across a National Park in Japan. We took the cable car up to the top then walked back down, stopping at all the scenic or Buddhist places of interest on the way.

Wonderful hike - but snakes and lots and lots of stairs
We enjoyed the hike on Mt. Misen, but not the prospect of seeing the poisonous snakes - there are signs warning of them everywhere - and we did see two large snakes - no idea if they were the poisonou...
