Still existing Kokubunji
It is one of Kokubunji, which was built by the order of Emperor Shomu in Nara Period. While many Kokubunji just remains its name, this one, though not an original of that time, is still surviving. It ...
Since it is Kokubunji Temple, it was naturally built at the request of Emperor Shomu during the Nara period. It is said that it had a 7 Dogalan at its peak, but it is a size that cannot be imagined. Even if you dive through the tower gate and see the Kindo built in the Edo period, you will feel that it is very large. Both the tower gate and the Kindo are important cultural properties.
This is great! About 1300 About a year ago, this was the political center of the Yamaguchi region. Kokubunji here is not just a "ruin" or a part of it like that in other areas, but here is a temple with a national treasure class Buddha statue, and there are more than 50, and the seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai of the principal image of Kokubunji is wonderful. It's also a corona disaster, and the viewers are only 3 people, such works of art, cultural properties, and so much can be seen so slowly (however, there is a charge) True bliss ...
Kokubunji was built in various parts of Japan by the imperial edict of Emperor Shomu during the Nara period. Suo Kokubunji was explained as a rare case in which the position of the Kondo at the time of its founding in the Nara period remains in the same position until now. I visited many national historic sites of Bunji, and most of them have only sites in large sites, but Suo Kokubunji here has magnificent Niomon and Kondo, which was spectacular.
Suo Kokubunji Temple in Hofu, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is quite a distance to walk from JR Hofu Station. I went by bicycle rental at the hotel where I stayed. I visited on weekday evenings, but there was no one and it was quiet. It was a historic temple built in 741 and had a strong presence.
